Although we were only able to walk around the grounds since its only open on weekends this time of year, it was still well worth the trip. Although the little cabin is a recreation, it gives you a feeling for how the Ingalls family lived back then. The well that Pa Ingalls dug by hand is still there. And although I know the area has changed a lot throughout the decades, there is still enough open land around to give a sense of the wide open prairie that Laura and Pa so loved. The wind was blowing through the trees, and if I closed my eyes, I could hear Pa laughing as he hoisted two little giggling girls onto his shoulders, and Jack leaping and barking happily. I could see Ma smiling sweetly as she stands at the door with Baby Carrie in her arms, and tantalizing smells from a simple home cooked waft around them. Yes, for this Little House devotee, it was well worth the trip! :)

A delightful family outing! Several authentic buildings on the very spot where the second Laura Ingalls Wilder book is set, and where the original events which inspired it took place. The vast, lonely prairie is gone now, with rural homes and farms occupying the once empty skyline, but its still an exciting place to visit for fans of the series. The gift shop has lots of cool stuff you wont find anywhere else, and the staff are very dedicated to the literary legacy, and enjoy answering all your questions.

This is a charming Little museum on the prairie (pun intended). It is very informative, and located on the land which Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family actually lived. Several buildings, many quality artifacts, some livestock, and very reasonably priced. $3 for adults. Show up in the cool of the day because only the Farmhouse/gift shop is air conditioned. Dog friendly, restrooms available.

We were so excited to take our daughter here because shes reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder books! We checked here for the times they were open but apparently they werent posted correctly! We were very disappointed! We were able to walk around the grounds but not go inside any of the buildings! Thats the only reason I gave it 1 star...Im sure well enjoy it when we actually get to see everything!

Smaller attraction for Laura Ingalls Wilder fans, on the original Kansas site, but no original buildings. Replica cabin; post office and school moved here from nearby.
