Ive been a patron Ive the Avenue Cafe since it opened as Gone Wired and was a coffee shop and an awesome study place for us students. Really love the evolution of the business over the years and glad that the hard years of figuring it out resulted in a really cool music spot with awesome staff, patrons, and food. Im looking at the reviews though and seeing several by folks commenting on the guy that works there. Im a fairly observant person. Ive never really seen him do much outside of sit quietly at the bar when not working and go smoke once in awhile. I dont believe Ive seen him drink either. I would think that the best course of action one could take when you feel as though youve been harassed by an employee would be to go the management or owner. Both are extremely accessible. The fact that several negative reviews about the same incident leads me to believe this is a personal attack. The point of a complaint or review is to receive some sort of resolution, which its pretty clear they arent looking for. The best thing now is for these folks to simply take their business elsewhere to the relief of literally everyone Im sure. I love this place and have never ever had an issue. If I wait for a drink its for a damn good reason. Its BUSY! Otherwise a drink is pretty much set in front of me by the time I get my jacket off and situated in the bar stool.

Bad news! I cant believe how unfair a so called professional business treated me, my little sister, my brother and his girlfriend we never got the water we ordered it was 80 degrees that day from the waitress who rolled her eyes at all of us and stomped around with an attitude, my Michigan drivers license was called a fake by all the employees I even showed them my credit cards that have my picture and name on them also they still didnt think the photos looked like me, what a joke Im 23 years old and never have I been denied from buying an adult beverage, so I wrote a bad review at how mediocre the service was on FB and how we didnt deserve to be treated in such ways and then they wanted me to apologize?! They even tried to intimidate me by having a girl come up to me and asked for my name and other things, like who are you?! Wow never have I been so disrespected, belittled and humiliated shows how unprofessional they are and how much they care for their customers and business...

What a find in downtown Lansing- The Avenue Cafe- right next to The Green Door. A fabulous and spacious listening room for great music. The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and drinks a decent price. A comfortable, relaxed vibe. Lots of cool people everywhere. Ive really enjoyed seeing some of the local and touring talent play at this club. Theres a nice big stage with a good clear sound system. Good views of the stage. Lots of comfy booths to chill out in. Wireless internet and great coffee. A must see and visit in downtown Lansing.

very terrible, a worker named Nick Gage kept harassing my Girl friend and made unwanted sexual advances toward her, he smelled and looked terrible, he attempted to grope her. i am very shocked the Ave would hire a pervert like this, and it turns out this guy is a wanted felon out of Ionia for assault and burglary. I will never go back to his cafe as long as he works there, also i will be speaking with an attorney about this issue

Concerned about a worker named Nicholous gage , I was at the cafe last night and was noticing that he made many unwanted advances toward at least 5 different women, he wouldnt take no for an answer and kept putting his hands on women and people didnt feel comfortable being there and many people left, I cant believe the cafe hired a creep like this, he had very bad hygiene and looked terrible, I will no longer attend this cafe

A lot of the older reviews are no longer relevant. And keep in mind that the food thats available from the kitchen rotates occasionally. The staff here are great people and I love that the Avenue always has plenty of live music and various events. From benefits to art shows to live music, this is my favorite bar AND favorite venue in Lansing. Every city needs a place like this.

Went here for a burlesque show. The bar itself is a little rundown. Not sure what type of crowd comes on the regular nights, bu this a good night to go. The show was very entertaining, the women who performed were all polished and professional, the thoroughly entertained me. The bar itself could use some newer furniture, without losing its quaint charm.

An eclectic experience is sure to be had by any patron here. The bar staff is friendly, the entertainment is plentiful, and a different business sets up shop in their kitchen every few weeks. Between the drink specials, the open mics, karaoke, and live bands, The Avenue is bound to have something for everyone.

The Avenue is a fun place and they have all kinds of great event there. The food is pretty good and the beer selection is nice too. They have a bunch of old-ish video games to play when there isnt a band or a burlesque show and the bar staff is super friendly.

Rude staff and rude management, somebody dropped a cup and i slipped on it and fell, i ended up breaking 3 fingers. was told by the manager that i was faking it and that i was a scammer, then they booted me from the place and i went to the E.R afterwords

90s karaoke night. Decent venue, good staff, decent drink prices. Karaoke was fun, but DJ wasnt so great. Kept moving song order around for his friends. Same people over and over and over again. Other than that, pretty enjoyable.

Staff was friendly but the food was not very good. Drink prices were terrible as I asked for a well whiskey and my waitress decides to not tell me that their well whiskey was jack and at $8 for a drink a piece on a Sunday night!

Nice craft beer selection thats fairly priced. The ramen as dumplings are great. Its a very causal setting with a couple pool tables, pinball machines, and wide open spaces. They host live music and events.

The food is delicious and the bartenders are awesome! I like to come here to read a book, meet up with friends, play pool, and hear great music and spoken word. Open mic nights and karaoke are lots of fun.

Ive played at the avenue a handful of times, the staff has always been super cool and made it easy for the event to go off well. I played a body painting show there one time... that was a blast!

great food... rotating pop up style kitchens... great people... unique drinks created in house off the top of the bartenders head ;) ask for a blueberry lemonade or green tea shot sometime!
