I returned on August 15 to the Regal after my egregiously bad visit shortly after the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 early this late Spring. For any other occasion I would plan on going elsewhere but the Fathom broadcasts of Rifftrax Live only shows near me in Bowie and Columbia (which is too unpredictable with traffic patterns). Though I enjoyed the content of the program I continue to be disappointed by the theatre, in three different respects. The first issue has been a persistent one since I started going more than two years ago for the multiple broadcasts of Rifftrax. The broadcast start after a series of funny facts and jokes with music and usually is accompanied by some trailers before the show, however once the starting time is reached things take a strange turn. The picture and/or sound fails to play and this can continue for an indeterminate number of minutes, both longer and shorter in duration. This fact is equally perplexing in that only one screen, Room 14, always plays these live or repeat broadcasts. Only one time has management ever apologized. Usually the loyal fan base waits and periodically goes out to seek assistance to address the issue and see the remainder of the show. The second issue arose only this evening. For a thursday night, when new movies appear and option the ticket kiosks at this location are malfunctioning there was no one at the ticket stand nor an usher near the door to check your ticket. Instead, i had to wait in line and wait and see as displaying the rf code and info for the broadcast and the attendant is dismayed how to allow me entry when this technology has long been common practice. After waiting several minutes, I was motioned in to have missed a few minutes of the film so pre-ticket purchase was a waste for about 15 dollars. The third, and apparently common, issue is the room itself. Though I usually am engaged in the programming to care when the show is visible and audible, I was shocked to discover two new problems on my arrival. First, there was a moldy, mildew smell near the sets of several rows near the screen across the aisle. This seems to have persisted according to other reviews. There is even a dehumidifier, which seems essentially worthless considering its collection and/or drainage capacity and the shear dimensions of the room. However, the scent and atmosphere may have been more noticeable on this occasion for the second problem with the room, the air conditioning. The air conditioning was not functional. Had it not been the fact that an usher had blocked the entrance with a trash can so a minuscule amount of heat could be redirected and it was dark outside, I would have unable to stay for a price of a movie purchase on Amazon or Itunes. Suggest planning in advance for the next show. If it is impossible to keep up the quality of the experience perhaps let the Regal in Waugh Chapel pick up the sack and start showing these broadcasts there.

One of the worst theaters Ive every been to. The chairs smell. The ceiling is falling apart. The workers go out of there way to look uninterested and rude. My most recent experience: I went there to see One Piece Film: Gold, a special release from Japan that will only play in theaters for a week. The movie was said to start at 7:30 and play for 2 hours and end at 9:30. I had serious plans that night at 10:30 so I figured I could see the movie beforehand, since its only in theaters for a week. I had to make it that day, only opportunity I had. I get there at 7, grab my overpriced ticket and head to the theater. The movie thats suppose to start at 7:30 ends up being delayed until 8:30. Im already pissed because I wont be able to leave before 10:30 to head to my more serious endeavor. But the movies was important to me, so I stuck around to see it, accepting that Ill be late and will most likely have to make up an excuse. Im watching the movie and enjoying it, disregarding the fact that Ill be late for my other plans that night. Half way through the movie the projection stops and ads start playing. This of course pisses me and the other viewers off. Im already more than late and now I have to wait for someone to restart the projection and figure out where to resume the movie and a bunch of other nonsense. I decide to get a refund for my overpriced ticket and leave. As I left I swore to myself that Ill never see another movie at Regal Bowie again.

Staff is often polite but the location was not the cleanest of Regal Theatres. The police acting as security tonight had to be called when a couple arrived later during the movie trailers, talked the whole time, moved multiple rows down to mine and continued to talk and use their phones. Even after Guardians of the Galaxy 2 started the customers continued to talk. When I calmly asked if they might be quiet -with the movie playing for several minutes- they were aggressive and vulgar. I left for the last time, getting a refund and a pass, which I plan on using at the Waugh Chapel location -which is much cleaner and possessing of a better clientele. In addition, the staff on call during the days Fathom events are held, appear to be technologically inept for multiple Rifftrax shows suffered technical errors which lost or impaired whole segments of the footage and audio. I would have normally chosen Columbia as it has a theatre conveniently located for my purposes, but traffic and/or weather often impair making it by 8 so I have been forced to go to Bowie in the past. I guess I will have to leave earlier for Columbia now for broadcasts. Take my advice and go to nearby theatres in Anne Arundel County or make a night out and try one of the amazing venues in Silver Spring. That way everyone will enjoy themselves and also avoid the embarrassment and discomfort of a vandalized car like several of my relatives have in the past.

You must arrive at least 30 minutes before your movie starts. Theres only one register to buy tickets! Then you stand in another line for an additional 15 minutes to get your snacks. Managers just walk around and dont assist with long lines. Once we asked for tickets to a 9:15 showing and recieved tickets to the 8:30 showing! Not sure how they managed to do that when the time was about 9:10pm when we ordered???? We saw the end before the beginning, which sucks! We spoke to a manager who didnt care at all! He rolled his eyes and was more concerned with heading home! Did not apologize once! After bugging them for a few minutes, we eventually recieved a readmission pass(to see the beginning). We werent offered a refund, was told it wasnt possible at that hour.

I have never been more let down and disappointed by a movie theater. We tried to see rouge one today. We wanted to see the regular non-3D version. Once the trailers start something was amiss and we were told on screen to put on our 3D goggles. First movie theater says they are going to change it to the regular version. Second, 5 minutes in to the actual film which was incredibly blurry and giving people headaches, they say they cant change it but offer 3D goggles. Then the 3D doesnt even work and with the goggles its still blurry. We get a refund, people who paid cash were given a voucher instead of cash. No apology. I was looking forward to this movie all week. We just moved here and this was going to be our go to movie theater and now I will never go back.
