As a resident of Baltimore, I couldnt wait to show my best friends an amazing time in the city that often sadly gets such a bad rep. I was so excited to show them the GREAT parts of the city that I love. I brought them here, where Ive previously had great experiences and spent an unnecessary amount on overly priced drinks. I enjoyed the country theme in a city since Im from rural Connecticut originally. I bragged to my friends about how this place felt homey. With signs inside that say "shoot first ask questions later" I thought it was a real joke as they turned me away in front of my friends as I was standing in the pouring rain wearing boots. Shoes that I got in the little boys section of a DSW. They turned me away and cited their rules against work boots and when I asked the door man why he laughed at me. When I told him that this was a matter of legitimate discrimation he laughed again and told his manager that I wanted to call him a racist...as a white female social worker in Baltimore city wearing boots often worn by my African American friends, I was appalled that someone literally wouldnt be let in based on their shoe of choice. If this was a high rise bar in Manhattan, totally appropriate. A country bar in Baltimore? Ridiculous. These types of rules are meant to keep certain people out for a reason. I was ashamed. Embarrassed my friends had to witness this. And listened as a group of women behind me questioned the doorman about how I was treated. As a woman, I am judged on what I wear constantly. On a night I wanted to show my friends a good time, paid an uber to take me to a place that was "low key" and country themed, I was publicly humiliated by two ignorant employees who laughed at my expense. I asked why specifically timberlands and was told the owner wants this to be a "classy place" as I looked in the window to see people looking extremely less than classy. Then went to the website and noticed that the bar is allowed to let in who ever they want based on their discretion. It wasnt the fact that I wasnt let in because of my shoes. (Trust me Id never return and neither will any of my friends) it was the fact that when I asked about why, there was no valid reason. If they were steal toed or going to be harmful, I understand. If they looked filthy, I get it. But its just another form of discrimination to keep certain people out. As a social worker in this city, I see this ALL of the time in different forms. Policies and laws that keep certain people out without making it seem like theyre targeting certain groups. They did the same thing in the south when segregation was legal and people were told "being at a restaurant isnt a right" that may be true but keeping certain groups out based on rules made by private owners that perpetuate discrimination is disgusting. I was ashamed that my friends had to witness this and had to witness 2 grown men belittle and humiliate me because I questioned them. As a advocate for social justice in this city, my heart breaks. Not because I was turned away because of my boots, but because of each "rule" this place has to keep certain people out. Go anywhere else! fells is beautiful and I went to 4 different bars that night after this. This is the type of stuff that perpetuates division against people in this city. It seems minor but its a much bigger picture. Fed hill is sweet too and Mt Vernon is underrated, check those out, too!

If I could give zero rating I would. Terrible service, stole money for no gain. My experience went as follows- walked in looking to celebrate friends birthday, so I got up the the bar and requested a beer. Bartender told me itd be $5, so I took out $6, and handed her $5, then waited for my beer. 20 minutes went by, and Id have assumed it was too packed if not for the fact that several people around me were helped, and left, in that timeframe. So I started trying to get her attention, and she made eye contact, ran over, and said "no tip no service" I told her *waving extra dollar* that I cant tip on services that arent rendered, and requested that I just have my beer, its been 30 minutes now (looking to get a Budweiser by the way, not even worth $5 for a single beer, but it is a bar). So after about 40 minutes, having asked 3 other bartenders, and seeing if anyone else was seeing this happen, she had security escort me out (which I have to say was a pretty nice guy, didnt get aggressive or unprofessional, simply sighed and came to walk me out). So while walking out he apologized, and said I probably shouldve tried to hit another bar. Unfortunately, its a bar, so Im going to rate it based on services rendered, and food/drink quality. Well I was never given the opportunity to sample food or drink, and the only service rendered by any of the staff was being escorted out so the one bartender could steal my money. So at the very least, the security showed compassion and professionalism, while the rest of the staff seemed pretty stuck up and unprofessional. *Note- I hadnt even been able to check out the other bars or rooms, all of this happened trying to get my first beer of the bar right off the bat. So I cannot speak for the attitude and service rendered in the other bars inside, only the first one*

I went into the bar at around 1:30 pm on June 6, 2017. When I went in, two guys were setting up the band and no one was at the bar. A little while later the bar tender comes and asks me what I wanted to drink. I told him a crown and ginger ale. He proceeded to make a very weak drink. At that point, I was some what offended. After a few minutes, I guzzled the drink (because it was that weak) and asked for the check. This is where insult was added to injury. The guy charged me $12 for the drink. After I gave him the money he goes to a different part of the bar and one of the guys who was setting up the band follow him into the back and comes back immediately with a smirk on his face. My take on that, yeah, I think he was being racist. The funny thing is, I was referred by a friend, who told me later that the drinks range from $5 to $8. I guess the bar tender felt as though he had to over charge me, a black man, to ensure his tip. To management: the bar tender was a short white guy, with a large beard and a lot of hair on his head. He also wore a baseball (style) hat. Lastly, I own my own bar.

Ive been a bartender for years, and have worked with over 50 bartenders. My friend with me tonight has also been a bartender for years. The short, bald bartender with chicken legs tonight must have had Napoleon complex; because his demeanor was not someone you would want behind the bar. He was impatient, crass, and short with us. It took 30 seconds too long for our female friend to take out payment, so he took the shots away she ordered. He was sooo rude, she didnt leave a tip and wrote a note explaining he had horrible customer service. And said he was the worst bartender shes ever seen. I agree. He read the note and kicked us out the bar. Had he given mediocre service we wouldve all given at least 25% tip. His service was sooo bad, this is the first time in my 8 year restaurant career Ive not given a tip. Damn, its embarrassing. Also, the shots she payed for were taken away before they hit anyones lips. And I also counted the pours. It was short. Id be fired in my own job if I consistently poured shots incorrectly. Please retrain him.
