Food wasnt bad but for selling itself as upscale it really doesnt meet those requirements. You have to ask for the menu with the sandwiches on it during dinner which if you dont know they have it, would never be offered to you. We had a large group (9 people) and they took a good hour to finally get the food out to us. Some food of our groups food was not hot when it came out which was unimpressive. Our waiter was attentive at least and filled water and replaced the bread quickly. Our one group member had a messed up order so she asked for a different item. When she asked for crab meaning the crab cake sandwich since she had ordered a sandwich originally they brought her the crab cake meal and she did not find this out until the bill came. I understand she did not specify but logic would follow she meant another sandwich not a meal. It felt a bit like upselling at her expense. All and all a nice establishment as we have been there before they just dont handle groups well. Still I would just as well save some coin and go to a friendlier place like TJ Rockwells.

We bought a Groupon and drove out an hour to try something new. I have no idea why people have complained about this place. The food is amazing and if possible sustainable... The rarebit is probably the best appetizer in the world. They have an awesome beer list, although I was bummed the hard pear cider was sold out. The waiter was nice, though I wish the waitress who was walking around with a pitcher would have filled our glasses too, even though we werent her table. Other than a party at the other side of the restaurant, there was only a couple and then later a group of four in the restaurant. We got there at opening. Their bacon wrapped petit filet is AMAZING and I love the family style veggies! :) The Kobe stuffed pepper and twice fried potato chips were good too. I was so full I didnt have room for dessert. Well be back when the summer menu change comes... I just wish we lived closer.

Hostess was very friendly and polite, as well as the waiter. I paid $11 for a crab melt that came with overly salty french fries and lump crab cake dumped on a hard piece of bread topped with WAY too much cheese. I also ordered a sex on the beach which came in a glass that was half the size that I would normally get anywhere else. $6.50 for a pint sized glass. My boyfriend ordered baked macaroni and cheese with stewed tomatoes. For $7, he received the tiniest bowl EVER of just that. And frankly, I couldve made a box of macaroni and cheese, squirted ketchup on it - and it tasted better than what he had. My crab melt was OK, but definitely was not worth the price, AT ALL. The portions were small, and the prices were completely outrageous in comparison. Needless to say, we wont be going back, and I dont recommend going there.

Black Gryphon is the best this area has to offer, hands down. Check them out and learn how they support local farms and businesses with their fresh, seasonal menus. You wont find a more passionate chef eager to educate the masses about slow food than Toeny, and the special events, fundraisers, and pairings are a foodies dream. They are always stocked with the most interesting craft beers and have the best cocktails - you wont find a better bartender in the area than Dave. Some of my menu favorites - chocolate wings, dueling dogs, mussels, and the seasonal creme brulee. If you are in E-town, put down the pizza and try something different. If you are from elsewhere, its worth the drive.

The best restaurant in the area. Great service and delicious food. Most of the food is locally grown as well as the meats, so you know the food is as fresh as it can be. The daily special is their crab cakes which are ALL lump crab meat with a light mustard drizzled on the plate. Theyre to die for. They also have a wonderful rotation of weekend specials and change the menu every so often so there is always a reason to go back. For being a finer dining restaurant the surprise is their chicken wings. Baked and fried with an amazing sauce. Plus they have a weekly infusion and a wide range of beers and wines. If you have not been there before, do not miss it.

This is the best dining experience Ive ever had; the service is exceptional! It is a welcoming environment with personalized customer service. Even the other customers are friendly! The menu rotates so theres always something new and always something for everyone. Unique menu items are great if you like to try new things, or you can stick with something like a burger and fries. I guarantee it will be one of the best burgers youve ever had. The cocktails are smooth and perfect, the beer selection is unbeatable.. they have anything you could want from Coors Lite to a large selection of craft beers. Check this place out, you will NOT be disappointed!

I love it here. The menu changes every 3-4 months. This includes the cocktail menu, which may change more frequently. Personally I am a beer lover and they always have something I like, or something new I want to try. Not sure what you are in the mood for? Ask Dave the bartender and he will help you choose a beer, cocktail, or mix a custom drink you describe. Very conversational atmosphere. The food is interesting, unique, and delicious, if you are not afraid of new things.

The Black Gryphon never ceases to please! The menu changes about 3 times a year, and Toenys creations always astound. Tonight I had the cold ramen small plate, and words cannot describe the flavor! Favorites like the wachos and the artichoke and bitter greens dip will always be on the menu for regulars to enjoy forever. If you are a fan of fantastic mixed drinks or a wide variety of unique beers, hit up The Black Gryphon for happy hour and enjoy!

I cant believe I havent yet reviewed Black Gryphon (pronounced similar to "siphon") yet! Toeny always has fantastic beers on tap, and excellent cellared cans/bottles are always available. Toeny prides himself on using the freshest and most local ingredients possible in his dishes, which are great. He also rotates his menu seasonally (hint, get whatever pierogi he currently offers!). Great place!

This is the best restaurant around. The atmosphere is great and the service is wonderful. The food is made to order so it is always fresh. They are very kid friendly and have a good kids menu. My kids love their homemade mac and cheese. Having tried many different dishes, I can say everything has been good. If you have a salad, try the 5 herb vinagrette - it is so good.

The food was very good and unique. The beer list, extensive. The best part of the experience was the interacting with the owner. What a cool dude. He came and sat at our table while explaining the beer he has (which is not your run-of-the-mill brews). He is very passionate about beer and his business and is very creative. Visit! You will not be disappointed.
