it was my adult sons birthday. He is mentally disabled. Keeping the ball on the lane is a challenge for him. He can barely throw the ball. But he loves to bowl and I had arranged for family to come and bowl with him for his birthday. Ive been taking him bowling since he was 8 yrs. old. He is 29. He has NEVER been denied the use of bumpers!!! NEVER!!! Plaza Lanes denied him the use of bumpers. I was told that only children could use their bumpers because there had been too much damage to their bumpers in the past. My son posed NO THREAT to their precious bumpers. The manager tried to make ME feel guilty for upsetting the girl behind the counter. Im the one who was upset and the manager took no concern for my sons bowling enjoyment. She said if I was unhappy I could leave. We STAYED! I wasnt going to let this insensitive manager spoil our time. If we had left, this insensitive manager would have succeeded in discouraging a Mentally handicapped adult from having a fun time on his birthday. Shame on you, Melody Gray (manager)!!!

Im a wheelchair user and have been here a couple of times. I even bowled once and accommodations were made for me to get to the lanes nicely. That said being a wheelchair user I was amazed that they have handicap parking at the front door with a 6 inch step so no way to get in how stupid can ya be???. The restrooms were NOT handicap accessible just way to small and I almost got my wheelchair stuck in the stall. I did have one of the best burgers and fries I have had in a long time but in order to get one had to flag down the waitress like I was trying to land a plane. I would recommend the bowling and the food but be ready to wait for service DONT GO IF IN A HURRY. I didnt check out the bar area but Im reading other reviews and service was always slow.

We went bowling at Plaza Lanes and that was great, but once we decided to eat there at the restaurant (Trophys), things went downhill fast. The waitress took our order and had to come back later to confirm it (for example, I ordered a chicken quesadilla and she came back to ask if I wanted beef or chicken on it), she brought tartar sauce when I asked for sour cream, they had created three different tabs for us, and to top it off, the MANAGER lost our credit card. Eventually it was found on the floor after a fairly long wait on our part. After all of this trouble, we still ended up having to pay for our meal.

This is one of my familys favorite places to enjoy great food and family friendly activities too. Located in the Lower Beaver Neighborhood on Des Moines NW side of town, Trophys & Plaza Lanes are a great place for the entire family. From bowling to sand volleyball, arcade games, big screen sports viewing and more. Theres always a lot of fun for everyone. This business is locally owned, well managed and a good fit with our neighborhood. If your discretionary $$$ need to go a long way, this is the place to go. Just look for the neon bowling guy on the roof!

We thought we would give this place a try......mistake. We literally waited 15 minutes for a waitress, we had to flag one down to come take our order. One person in our group ordered cheeseballs as an appetizer, they took another 20 minutes to come out and there were maybe 7 of them on a tiny plate. We were so upset by the lack of service and everything we didnt order anything else and left.

Had the worst experience ever. Sat down one Saturday evening in a rather quick fashion with a group of my friends. When we got our table we waited 25 minutes for just one waiter to help us or even acknowledge our existence. When the lady got to us she said she would get menus. Well we waited 20 minutes and never got those menus so we left. Somethings obviously wrong with this place.

I witnessed a very unfortunate experience at Plaza Lanes recently in involving an incredible lack of professionalism from management. From afar, I witnessed management not allowing a mentally-disabled young man to use bumpers while bowling... they made no exception from the group of people with this young man and seemed to be acting very rude. Not a business I want to support.

Cheap Bowling, Plenty of Lanes, Great wings, and although the service tends to be a little slow the staff is pretty nice overall. They also have a few sand volleyball courts outside they have leagues at during the summer. Along with a full bar and restaurant. Its definitely my favorite bowling alley in the greater Des Moines area..

I like this alley due to location to me but there needs to be better weekday specials. I called on 2/1/17 to try to get in on their narrow 3-5 pm discount window and was told nothing would be available. I went elsewhere for my mid day, weekday bowling because I was not going to pay over double per game at 1pm

The bowling on weeknights after league is very reasonably priced and always a good time. The drinks and food are decent but a little over priced for what you get. The only real complaint I have is the music during open bowling is way too loud. Cant have conversations without shouting to be heard.

T.vs everywhere!..Food is good, beer is cold, however, service is extremely slow! Rowdy crowds and a lot of cussin. One Sunday evening I actually watchd an all out brawl in there and it took managemnt about 20 minutes into the fight to show up! Glad I didnt bring my son that eve.

The prices they advertise on the website are not what they charge you for. Once I showed them the online prices the manager got upset and threatened to ban me from the alley. I will not be going here ever again.

Restraunt area was dirty and the food I ordered took 45 mins for them to prepare and was cold. They bathrooms are filthy, pee stains on the walls and the toilets wouldnt flush. This place shouldnt be operating.

I love the Bowling League. It is a great way to meet new people and have tons of fun with family and friends! The prizes at the end of the league are totally worth it too! Plus, its relatively affordable!!

With the remodel the lanes work perfectly. Bowling is not overly expensive, and the people are very friendly. They also have a reasonably priced snack bar with delicious food.

Great place to bowl or just hang out! They have a small arcade as well. Trophys next door is also a pretty good place to eat. Check this place out as soon as you can!

Best bowling alley around, but food service is a bit slow and overpriced for the quality. I recommend calling ahead on the weekends as lanes fill up often.

Great oil pattern with a pretty straightforward line to play, full restaurant, benches to sit on right behind the approach. I love this house.
