I have just had what is by far one of the worst customer service experiences in my life over the past 45 minutes. I called Horseshoe Chicago (Hammond) to get information about a show this coming Friday at The Venue. After being told I needed to hangup and call another number by the lady in another country I called that number. That 219 number put me with the info desk (which I learned is actually in Vegas) who had none of the info I needed so they would transfer me to the person who would know. I reached Security (in Hammond) who had no information either. When I asked who I needed to contact for this information I was then called "Maam". I corrected the gentleman on the phone and then he repeated, "hold on Maam while I get someone who can assist you." I then asked to speak to a manager. Security then radioed a manager who said over radio they were on their way and asked if everything was ok, when Mr. Gentleman responded "depends what side of this phone call you are on." I was then told it will be a while and I was put on hold. About 10 minutes later I was transferred to a phone that rang for 7 minutes with no answer or voice mail option. I called back again and reached Dewan and after a brief (read 5 minute) hold was told they were going to find a manager for me. Came back on the phone 3 times and was told to call back in 15 minutes. I called back 15 minutes later and got the same operator, Dewan, who placed me on a brief hold again while trying to get a supervisor for me. Supervisor Sherry then came on the line and was somewhat helpful considering the complete lack of "legendary" assistance I received previously. She really did nothing for me other than tell me she will look into who was in the security office and remedy the situation and gave me another number to call tomorrow to get more information from their Total Rewards desk. The last call was somewhat helpful but the overall experience was far less than stellar and even worse far below helpful. As Mr. Binion himself would probably say, it was way less than "Legendary!"

This from a confessed light weight gamer. About the most gambling Ive done here is penny slots. Theres much more here, tho. The place is not small. Theres probably a football field of slot machines. The family and I go occasionally for good concerts at the Venue, all you can eat at the buffet, and a few plays at the slots to see if we can leave with more money than weve spent. We do, dont, or break even. Were entertained. Wed be in favor of the entire place going no smoking. Theres complimentary soft drinks and were not into bar drinks, but Im sure one could find alcoholic beverages to suit, typical of most casinos. As you would expect, prices for anything can be a bit luxurious. Service is above average. I would play more here if table games had lower limits and the card room catered to slimmer wallets with more general card games. Im more of a 5-card poker player than Texas Holdem and its popular variants. With popular events it can get crowded, causing long lines for parking both in and out. The rewards program seems practical. Make sure you join. Still, its a casino and you capitulate going in that the "house" is going to win. They are profit oriented and most every decision, market driven comp, and everything about the place drips with it. Im no expert on the financial organization of the place, the return it makes, the taxes it pays, or its charity, but a more warm fuzzy feeling that the entity is an outstanding community contributor would make me more generous with my rating.

i just move from california to indiana so i went to horseshoe hammond casino it take me 2 hrs drive to get there , at first i was treat like first class player , but now they are not treat me right at all , i ask for a casino host and she came down then i ask for cigarette she give me 1 pack and i told her 1 pack is not enough for the whole night then she reply u have alot of r c comp why dont u go buy with it .i was so piss and ripoff that coupon she give me .another word she want me to quit my game and go buy it , and i am a 2nd highest tier scores player there in a month of july 2014.everyone else is very nice except that host .now i go over to blue chips and they treat me like king with respect .anyway i am very happy now with a best host i ever had during my gambling career, and her name is katrina bui she take care of all my issue i had, even better than most host in vegas that i have. if u dont have a host or need a better host try her out.and i stop going somewhere else and come back 4 times a week. good job katrina bui keep up the good work .also the supervisor her name is pam she is very fair and helpful, if there is any issue that is unsolved by the pitboss try to get a overrule from her and she is also the best

This place is the worst dump. Im honestly suspicious of the good reviews. My experiences is limited to the high limit Blackjacks. I only went a few times. I asked for a no mid shoe block and was told I have to have a Players card. That is standard for any casino, Im betting 200 a hundred and I dont want people jumping in and out on my game. I dont think Im coming back so why would I get a Players card. I was playing for about 30 minutes asked for a diet coke and this female pit boss gave me total attitude. "What do I look like a cocktail waitress to you" Actually you look a welfare mother with no class in my opinion is what I thought. "Can you call someone" I asked. I went an entire hour waiting for a diet coke. They have one waitress for the poker room. Even when no one is playing poker, she cant get you a drink if youre playing Blackjack. Manny is by far the worst Pit Boss, he will keep trying to talk to you, when youre playing. Its pretty rude to ask someone questions, when the cards and being dealt. I asked him if he reminded, total attitude. They Dealers will not call out the cards. I asked several times and one dealer said, whats the point, we will know at the end. Nice, real great service. Avoid this dump.

I love going to the Horseshoe Casino. It may not be in the nicest looking area but the drive to get from Chicago to the casino is so easy that even someone with no sense of direction could understand how to get there. I dont understand why people are calling it a rip off just because you had some strokes of bad luck. You need to know when to walk away or the casino will take it all. Thats how every casino is. Casinos are the only places that still allow smoking indoors, so I wouldnt complain about it when everywhere else is smoke free. The dealers are always nice and the several times I have been (weekends and weekdays) I manage to find a seat at the tables pretty quickly. I love the video poker and bar in the back. I could just play some video poker all day and watch sports with a cold beer. I have never had the food so I couldnt comment on that. Parking is easy, no fee for the garage. The tables start at 5 dollars. Very nice place overall!
