As an attempt to rate the entire Greektown / J.A.C.K. establishment, my average is about 2.5 stars - brought down considerably by the result of a terrible stay at the hotel. Ill round up to 3, since 1/2 stars arent available. I won’t rehash the full hotel story here, but you can go read it under the separate “Greektown Hotel” marker in Google maps. As I’ve said in that review, I question whether or not Greektown has any real policies in place to effectively deal with disorderly conduct in the hotel and to protect their guests. Now on to the casino - I’ll admit my experiences have been hit or miss. I play table games, primarily craps, and there are some fun, energetic dealers that make the experience worthwhile. Some of them will share some crazy stories and keep you laughing, even when that bitter 7 keeps popping up on the dice, washing away your chips. Theres some bad mixed in with the good. In fact, I’ve encountered a couple dealers that were downright callous, and would be better off counting money in the back or performing some function that doesn’t require pleasant customer interaction. Especially on Friday or Saturday nights, the tables get crowded, feathers get ruffled, and from time to time, a little table game scuffle will break out. I have to applaud casino security for their efforts, because in every case I’ve witnessed, they’re on the ball, immediately escorting the instigators out of the room (if necessary) and preventing the situation from escalating out of control. Synergy is an excellent, recent addition to their gaming options. I have friends and colleagues that will want to visit Greektown just to play a few rounds at the Synergy station. On busy nights, the hosts do a pretty good job of helping you secure a seat, and even keeping your group together if possible. The drinks? Not much to say, but I can’t say I’m impressed. A bottle of “cheap” (non-craft) beer is going to be $4-5, which isn’t shocking or outside the norm in any way. I don’t generally order hard liquor here, because the plastic cups they serve it in isn’t especially enjoyable, and for the prices, I’ve seen some pretty stingy pours. That takes us to parking - Not bad. They get some credit for the convenient entrance off of 375. Typically, I can find a spot fairly easily on the 6th through 9th level. However, I’ve also been here on weekend nights where the entire lot is jammed - right up to the very top of the roof - and you can find yourself in a long, miserable game of Stop N’ Go. I don’t often see security patrols in the north east garage, but I’ve never felt particularly unsafe either. I’ll end by saying I hope staff continues to keep tabs on the upper level slots area - especially the video poker room. I’ve been approached by multiple, suspicious people that bluntly ask for money. My neighbors on other machines have made frustrated comments about being “sick of beggars bothering me in here,” so I would have to assume it’s not exactly an infrequent situation for Greektown patrons.

Greektown (a.k.a. J.A.C.K.) has been undergoing some serious renovation, and the place is looking better all the time. The comps available for multiple restaurants right down the street is a nice touch as well. Unfortunately, they are falling short in a couple areas that are starting to make the gaming area and bars quite unattractive. It seems every time I visit the craps area on the weekends (and were talking several occasions), its nearly impossible to comfortably join a normal table. Theyll often have 2 "Crapless" craps tables with a bit of open space and then a single, packed-like-a-wall normal craps table. Okay, I get it. The Crapless games have a considerably higher house edge, so if people are willing to throw their money away faster, might as well let em ride all night long, right? In the meantime, they have 3-4 empty normal craps tables, several people looking to get involved in a normal game (such as myself), and no one able to meet the demand. Some advice to management (since it appears they read this) - Be aware, this isnt just my own grievance. Nearly every time Ive been to Greektown this year, I hear other, random patrons grumbling about this. This is turning into a deal breaker for me and my weekend crew. If you dont find a way to turn this around relatively soon, well have to take our future entertainment gatherings to MGM. The only other immediate issue Id recommend looking into is your long pours at the bar. Theyre quite stingy compared to your competitors and other local bars. If I drop $10-14 for a middle shelf liquor, I expect more than a couple sips in a plastic cup. Hoping to see J.A.C.K. rise to the top, but theres still some holes to fill. Cheers!

I live pretty close to the city (15 mins or so) and have visited the casino several times. Most times Ive had a mediocre experience. The most recent time I visited was just last weekend. My company hosted an outing where we attended a Tigers game and had the option to stay at the Greektown Hotel. The stay was a pretty average experience on par with other stays at the hotel. After I checked out and returned home I began to unpack my bag. I realized I forgot my Bose Soundlink Color Bluetooth speaker in the room. The speaker was a gift from someone very near and dear to my heart and was a piece of a very sentimental gift giving experience. I called immediately to have someone go up to the room and grab it. The person I spoke to (who gave me a fake name) said they did not locate the speaker in the lost and found and said they also checked the room with no luck. The staff member said they would call me the next day to provide an update after they looked into the situation. After waiting most the day for my return call and not receiving one, I decided to call them. The staff member I spoke to this time said the name the previous staff member gave me was not on file. So they began the search again. Again, my speaker could not be located. And again this staff member promised to look into the situation and give me a call the next day. Two days have passed and I have yet to receive a call. Im going to contact them again today ( Thurs. Oct. 1st) so well see if I have any luck. I cannot believe a business like this would openly shelter a thief without showing any real concern.

Myself and some friends booked some rooms at the hotel on a Friday night. First off as soon as we entered the room it reeked of cigarette smoke. But we all came down to celebrate my birthday so I was not going to let something like this ruin the night. Well after our night in Detroit we came back to room to refresh, and when leaving a friend in my group broke one of the lamps in the hallway. Now we COMPLETELY take responsibility for this and understand that we would need to pay to replace it. We did not understand why we needed to pay $230 to fix it!!! I have seen the same exact lamp at IKEA for $20, so we just could not understand where they were getting their numbers from. After asking to speak with the manager about the issue we were told that they would not come down and speak with us (blatant lack of customer service) but that they would be back in on Monday and we needed to call and discuss the matter then. And do you think when we called 3 times, and left 3 messages on Monday that we ever received a call back? Nope, we didnt. What is the point of even having a manager if they do not respect when a PAYING customer would like a simple conversation. Now I understand some people may think we deserve to have to pay this price, but when my group spent over $1000 in rooms, I think we at least deserved a call back. So moral of the story if you stay at Greektown hotel, do not have ANY accidents what-so-ever or you will definitely "pay" the price.
