I have been going here for years since I was young enough to identify a clown fish from a batfish, and have seen this business grow over the years. Honestly, this is one of the most trustworthy fish stores on bird road as it has been for years. I always loved the layout of the store as well, even as a kid I would love looking at all the saltwater fish in their tanks with their bright colors. Now I am old enough to consider myself more of a hobbyist (small tanks only for myself due to limited budget), and would always get the best advice from the different workers here. It felt like an episode of CHEERS with the familiarity you can develop of you give yourself time in the store, and really get into the hobby. Each worker has their own specialty and interests - I started off as a crazy betta lady, and am upgrading slowly to more. They are also one of the only stores I know that had someone with an actual educated background in fish biology (a man of asian descent, Lance) if I ever truly wished to know more about anything wrong with my fish, and/or corals and how to treat them, if its even possible. (A true rarity in ANY pet store in Miami.) Owning fish can be more delicate then a bird even at times with how fickle they can be - but this store honestly seems amazing to me, and always will be. Highly recommend it for freshwater (including koi, freshwater plants, decorations, and ponds), saltwater (corals, obviously fish of all types that change with each new shipment), and for fish tanks and all things needed for it. I found it amazing they were even affiliated with another company that builds fish tanks, and are usually so kind that if anything happens to your tank, they would help you repair it at low costs too - and these are quality, custom, glass tanks. I personally come here for my fish hobby, but from the familiar and friendly attitude of the workers here I got to know best (Javi, Ray, and Frank Jr.), I would find myself here on offdays just to see what came in new every week. =)

Where to start... 1. Upon first entering the hobby I had an issue regarding some clownfish that were purchased from this store. I was advised on a "Reef Safe" ich treatment by the guy with the bowl haircut which wound up nuking my invertebrates...thanks. Apparently he just wanted to make a sale rather than tell me about quarantining measures, etc. 2. I was sold a Cynarina coral but the same guy which happened to be dying but again me being to the hobby I was unaware. I assumed the coral being opaque white was natural. I even asked about the coral and was told it was fine, healthy and natural looking. Turns out this "clear" color was the expulsion of the photosynthetic algae needed to keep the coral alive. 3. I went to purchase a fish and asked the same clerk: "Excuse me, do you have a minute?" He replied "No" and walked away from me. 4. The prices for goods at this store are also ridiculous. Specimen traps for example are 200% marked up over other places. 5. One of the "custom made aquariums" this place makes recently sprung a leak and had be to completely redone. This tank also cost the individual thousands of dollars and failed which calls into question the workmanship of the individual who created it along with the ethics of the company that markets it (Exotic Aquarium). 6. It seems all of hired help here were obnoxious and didnt have the patience to assist individuals interested in the hobby. It appeared as if they refused to condescend themselves to assist individuals that wanted guidance with the hobby. The only guy in there who was willing to help was a long red haired gentleman who was patient and professional. As this hobby involves live animals, Its amazing to see people as callous as this towards living creatures. It borders on being unethical. I will NEVER shop at this place again.

I visited Exotic Aquariums today for my second time. Overall, I think Exotic Aquariums and Aquarama Inc are the "go-to" for aquarium products and livestock in Miami. First off, the store has a really good selection of freshwater/saltwater fish, and saltwater coral. The fish all look in reasonably good health (some fish stores can be like deathcamps). The store didnt smell like a pet store, which in my opinion, is a clear indicator that the store takes care of itself. The prices were pretty outstanding. Im new to florida, but I have never seen livestock prices so low. I saw $6.00 blue chromis, $20 yellow tangs, $40 bluespot jawfish etc. The prices are endless! Lastly, the customer service was pretty great. Usually fish stores have a good crew of guys, and this store was no different. The staff (even though half of them were on lunch break) were eager to help customers. The store was busy, with a good atmosphere of families all buying their first fishes;) The staff were all friendly and courteous, offered knowledgable advice, and werent trying to sell you anything (which most stores do). DEFINATELY consider exotic aquariums if your considering anything aquatic!

Exotic aquarium has been around for years and ive been going there since i was very young. The store is the biggest fish store i know of in Miami. Although, i only buy my water their. never had a issue with the water , they have great quality water. however dont go here for anything else. Fish always seem stressed , prices on fish are also on the pricey side. Corals are way over priced and they dont have a big selection on small frags for small tanks. The employees there are sometimes rude and dont want to help. sometimes they make me feel like my business is not important to them unless im wasting lots of money. DO NOT BUY THEIR LIVE ROCK! repeat do not buy their live rock, their rocks bring alot of unwanted pests that kill and harm livestock. Ive lost lots of money on corals and fish killed by the worms and gorilla crabs that come on their rocks. ive had to tear down the tank several times to remove the rocks that were infested with worms. i broke one of the rocks in peices and there was about 8 worms in that rock alone. Ive seen euncid worms, pistol shrimps, gorilla grabs, brisstle worms and all kinds of unwanted pests in their rock

a really bad customer service,, they have like 4 guys playing around instead of workers and they always are in a bad mood.the only one person who know what is doing is the owner..she is really nice....and i dont know why she doesnt change the bad team..maybe they are families, but this is not the first time that the customer complaints about this...... almost the half of their tanks have death fishes..and nobody cleans that.... really bad, bad, bad.. if you want have sicks fishes in your tank this is your place... but is you want have nice fishes and be trated as a human ..RUN AWAY and find another place...

Been coming to this shop for past 2 years. Super friendly and knowledgable folks. A excellent selection of aquarium supplies, especially if youre looking for something a bit one of a kind. They have salt water fish of all sorts. As well as a great selection of fresh water fish. Including a small collect of fish suitable for nano aquariums. Its also the only store to my knowledge that has fresh water shrimp (Bee Shrimp black & red, Cherry, Amano, ect.) Best of all, all the supplies needed to for aquascaping. If you have or have been thinking of getting a tank, come here. These people will help you out.
