I have been to Flix Brewhouse several times now after relocating to Carmel. Ive been disappointed the majority of the time. Tldr I started a campaign for an Alamo Drafthouse in the Indy area. Its everything Flix Brewhouse wishes it could be and more. Flix Brewhouses only redeeming moments are the reserved seating and clean establishment. You can order your tickets on-line and reserve specific seats. I love this about a theater as it prevents getting the chiropractor-money-making-seats in the front. I dont like their refund policy. If you order your tickets weeks in advance (as I did with Guardians of the Galaxy 2) and then suddenly had to leave town in an emergency I am not guaranteed a refund. According to their website it is the managers discretion for "extenuating" circumstances. Ive experienced similar set-ups elsewhere where all I had to do was call them up, say I couldnt make it, and they would refund the money to my card. Honestly makes a customer want to give business to a place like this since sometimes weird things can happen (like a wreck on the way to the theater, a sick kid, explosive diarrhea, you know.) They get +1 star for this. The establishment is clean and well-kept. Including the bathrooms. +1/2 a star. The picture quality is great, sound is decent, and the seating is fairly comfortable. +1/2 a star. I am sorry to say it goes down from here. Their menu is "meh" at best. Little variety to the menu and the menu is quasi confusing. They have appetizers but dont exclusively list them. They are under the "Favorite" section which also includes entrees. Ok, whatever. We are intelligent and figured it out but why didnt your design department or whatever pick up how weird this is. Also, the food quality is "meh" at best. Hatch chile queso is meant to have some kick, not a bland cheesy soup. My Pulled Pork Sandwich tonight was cold. The toasted bread was cold, the BBQ sauce ice cold, the bacon cold cold cold, the pulled pork lukewarm. Kinda a turn off right. My husband says their pizza is cold as well. Their shakes are unremarkable (I mean it is about as good as what I make at home at best) and their chocolate cake is boring. The best thing I have eaten here is the Baked Pretzel. -1 star They only serve beer and 3 ciders. No cocktails or anything like that. I dont drink beer and only one of the ciders is worth a nod. -1 star. Go get a full liquor license and a bartender if you want this star back. The service at Flix is awful, abysmal, atrocious, apocalyptic. (No seriously it is pretty bad.) Story 1 of 2: Flix Brewhouse prides itself on being a "no texting, no talking" type a theater. Normally I would give 2 stars for this but after my first visit I realized this isnt really enforced. The people to the right of me and in the row above me were talking so loud after the movie started I could hear the whole conversation. Plus the kid sitting next to me was playing on his phone. 15 minutes into the movie a waitress came up to hand him his root beer. She had a hard time getting his attention for the game on his phone while she desperately tried to ask him if he wanted a straw or not. And yet, she said nothing about his use of the phone and instead handed him his drink and walked away. I was stunned. Right in front of them and they did nothing. They did ask him to stop after I complained. Story 2 of 2: Tonight, I ordered a water. I waited 26 MINUTES for my water and that was only because I SAID something! (26 minutes is only when I started clocking it not when we actually ordered it!) I wish I had walked out. Upon reflection, I realized that on all of my other trips the water I ordered along with my cider never came out until after my food arrived and the movie was 10 minutes in. Nope sorry, not okay. My husbands beer arrived in 5 minutes, the people next to us had their soda arrive in about 8 minutes. But I have to wait @30 minutes for the cup of water you already have filled ready to go 4 rows. I got a very weak apology for this one. -1 star. Seriously, get better at this.

Ive been three times, the first time the theater was about 50% full, the second time about 25%, both times the drinks took at least 20-30 minutes to arrive. And they never arrive for the entire party at the same time. We have 2 kids and 2 adults in our party. Youd think that if the wait staff is entering the orders on an iPad they are immediately transported to the kitchen and someone could be preparing drinks immediately. We have even received a couple of food items before we got all of our drinks, and a kids meal before they brought our popcorn. Whenever wed inquire about food or drinks, the waitstaff just stands there with a blank stare and shrugs their shoulders (and that is at least 4 different people, during two different visits.) How hard is it to go ask someone the status of an order? On our first visit, everyone else was almost finished with their meals when I finally asked where my meatloaf sandwich is (a full 45-50 minutes into the movie). She had no idea of course, but went and placed a second order, which I figured out when they delivered a second sandwich about 10 minutes after I finally received the first one. The food is better than other theaters that serve food, but the service issues just arent worth the hassle. It can also end up being very expensive. We spent over $80 for four people (not including the show tickets.) Thats one soft drink each, popcorn, and one entree each, two of which were kids meals. On our second visit, I received my "margarita" comparatively quickly, my kids soda and chocolate milk arrived about 20 minutes later, and 20 minutes after that my husband had to ask why he hadnt received his beer yet. We got smart on our third visit and had lunch before we arrived at the theater.

I love Flix. Every time Ive visited has been a great experience. Weve gone on opening days for films, last days for films, seen stuff on the small screen, big screen, 3D...weve done it all. The sound and screen is of fine quality. Ive never had an experience where I thought the sound was too loud or too soft. The food is pretty damn good, and reasonably priced for the portions (though Id stay away from apps. because the price to food ratio is a bit skewed). The drink situation is good, though they serve Pepsi products which is weird for a movie theater. The beer selection is vast, though there is a tendency for a special brew to go out fairly quickly. Also, Id honestly just come for the french fries. The seating situation is awesome. Even if youre seated next to a stranger, the experience isnt too bad. If someone is talking behind you, its difficult to hear. The fact that the seats are plush and spaced out makes your viewing experience pretty singular, which is perfect. The service here is pretty solid, though the ticket taking at the beginning is usually a mess. Food service is quick and friendly. They can be a little harried, but Im patient because its like seating an entire restaurant at once. When you press your light for service, they do arrive quickly and get you what you need. Weve been here so many times that I honestly only like seeing films here now. If youre a big movie goer, Id suggest signing up for their reward system because it can result in food discounts and the occasional free ticket.
