I cant believe that Im giving a park a three star review but to me, this park isnt really anything special. The two main issues for me is the fact that there is little to no shade, and that the park isnt very natural. What I mean by "natural" is that the park doesnt have much foliage or wildlife. This park is pretty centrally located so its good for festivals and other kinds of events. It have a nice view of Hillsborough River, but this part of Hillsborough River is not the prettiest to look at. I guess the best times to go to this park would be for a walk when its either cloudy or cold out, or if theres some type of event going on, but dont go out of the way to come here.

Most great cities have huge open communal multi purpose spaces. Tampa aspires to create such a space with Waterfront Park. This is part of a more ambitious Downtown revitalization project: Riverwalk. Construction is ongoing. I was blown away by the wide open grassy area that people just sort of graze on a lazy Sunday. The Tampa Museum of Art anchors Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, with an interactive children playground and a dog walk. The wide inviting space offers a gathering spot for people to congregate. There doesn’t need to be an actual reason to go here, but once you are there this could be the jump of point for other fun things. Wish my city had this.

I frequent this park for photo shoots with models. You can achieve a lot of different looks facing in different directions and moving around the park. Pretty awesome! The only downside is that it can get crowded at peak times or when there are special events. But, if youre aiming for the golden hour at sunrise- youve got a lot of room to shoot. *Theres a moderately sized homeless population surrounding the park. So, if youre going to go down there and parade around with photo gear, be a caring citizen. Bring some extra, water, snacks, and small bills if you are so inclined to share. Dont miss an opportunity to help the less fortunate! :)

Curtis Hixon is a spectacular place to spend an afternoon. Theres space for children to play, to just take a walk, to appreciate the beauty of our Hillsborough River, and of course space to sit and chat with old friends. There is always some new event being held here evenings and weekends, within walking distance of downtown apartments and condos. The park is flanked by both the Tampa Museum of Art, and the Glazer Childrens Museum, and both of those are worth a visit as well! Downtown is so much better for the presence of this park, and it will surely only get better as more development goes under way in 2017 and coming years.

One of my favorite parks to take our family. Its right on the river and is beautiful at night.y husband and I also come here for dates. They rent bikes that are fun to take in Riverwalk. Theres a cool playground, fountains for the kids to run through, a dog park, public restrooms, public exercise classes, food truck rallys, outdoor concerts and so much more. Whenever we have friends visiting us from out of town, we take them here. You have to pay to park in the parking garage, but its a fair price. I took off one star because there used to be a huge green lawn but its dying. They need to restore it or replace.

Awesome place for all things outdoors. You can run, you can walk, even cycle. Or you can simply sit and watch the sunset over the river. There are outdoor events such as music and arts festivals. In the winter there is an outdoor Orchestra event, and it is located walking distance from the Tampa Museum of Art and the Glazers Children Museum. It is fun to sit and watch the children, all the adults play in the water fountains. And last but not least it is walking distance from my favorite restaurant Eddie & Sams Pizza. If you miss New York head over there for a bite and then come back and enjoy Curtis Hixon Park.

Great park along the Riverwalk. Its pretty much become the center of activity for many events. I recommend coming here and watching the sunset over the University of Tampa. The park also has a playground for kids and a dog park. Bathrooms are located on property as well. They have some fountains were kids or adults can run through. From the park you can walk the Riverwalk towards Channelside. They also have yoga and other events throughout the week. If major events are being produced on property, the main lawn area might close. With that said you should still have access to the Riverwalk and dog park.

I love that there always seems to be something going on at this park! Great place, but I wish there was more shade to escape the sun. Luckily there are these fantastic fountains for people and pets to splash in. Theres a lot of space with well kept grass for kids and dogs to play. There are restrooms and theres a small playground. A little further down toward the museum, theres a dog park. I love walking around here and looking out over the river.

This is one of my favorite spots to hang out in tampa. There is always something fun going on, whether its live music, Oktoberfest, yoga, margarita festival, etc. There is so much space to run around or have a picnic or photoshoot. A cool ampitheater tucked away. A playground and two fountains for kids and dogs to run through. Bathrooms on either side and water fountains. Right on the riverwalk and across from beautiful UT campus.

The park is beautiful and many weekends there is something fun happening here. My big complaint however, is that it is totally exposed to the sun. This makes it hard to stay here very long in the summertime or with young kids unless you bring lots of sunblock and water. I think the city could build some very artful shade providing structures that would go nicely here and make this place a five star hangout for the locals.

This park is great for walking dogs and great for kids since it is near the Childrens Museum. The have a fenced in area with a automatic drinking bowl for the dogs. If your dog is scared of running water the fountain stays full for a bit so they have enough time to drink. They have solar maps so it is really easy to find the walking maps. They keep up with the landscaping frequently so it looks awesome.

This park provides a great place to meetup and relax while waiting for a show at the Straz or after a visit to the adjacent museums. The playground is interactive and the kids playing on it seemed to enjoy. There are regular concerts and events and the food trucks that show up for these really add value. I like that the stage is at a low elevation so that people standing farther away can still see.
