1-21-16 LET ME START OUT BY SAYING THAT 3 YEARS AGO I KNEW PRACTICALLY NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT I KNOW TODAY REGARDING FRESHWATER TROPICAL FISH. MY NAME IS MARSHALL MALLIE AND 3 YEARS AGO I MADE MYSELF A SMALL CYLINDER AS AN AQUARIUM TO SEE IF I WANTED TO RESURRECT AN OLD HOBBY FROM 42 YEARS AGO. WELL, I LIKED THE IDEA AND GRADUATED TO A 37 GALLON. THEN OVER A PERIOD OF A YEAR AND A HALF I EXPANDED TO THE FOLLOWING SET UPS IN THE ORDER LISTED: A 55, 56, 55, 120, 150, 120, 210, 75, 150 AND NOW THREE YEARS LATER I AM IN THE PROCESS OF SETTING UP MY LATEST ADDITION, A 375 GALLON 10’ AQUARIUM. I HAVE SHOPPED EVERYWHERE FOR FISH. HOWEVER I WAS MISSING THE KEY COMPONENT WHICH IS KNOWLEDGE. THROUGH MY EXTENSIVE SEARCH I VISITSED SEASCAPE AQUARIUM HERE IN SARASOTA. I MET WITH THE OWNER, RICK, AND FOUND HIS MARINE BIOLOGIST BACKGROUND AND KNOWLEDGE WAS INVALUEABLE. OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND MANY VISITS TO THE STORE I BECAME FRIENDLY WITH HIS SON DANIEL AND HIS INSTALLATION FOREMAN WESLEY. IT WAS DUE TO THEIR EXPERTISE AND FRIENDLY DESIRE TO HELP ME THAT I GAINED THE CONFIDENCE TO EXPAND MY HOBBY FROM THAT 1ST AQUARIUM TO OVER 12 AQUARIUMS UP AND RUNNING SIMULTANESOULY. I HAVE INVESTED PLENTY OF MONEY IN THIS HOBBY AND WOULD NOT HAVE IF IT WASN’T FOR THEM AT SEASCAPE AQUARIUM YES I DO SHOP ELESEWHERE AND HAVE MADE MANY FISH BUDDYS HERE. BUT ALL BEING SAID WHEN I NEED ADVISE I GO TO THE GANG AT SEASCAPE BECAUSE THEY KNOW FOR SURE. WESLEY AND HIS CREW HAS DELIVERED SEVERAL OF MY TANKS FLAWLESSLY. AS A MATTER OF FACT THE LAST TANK AND HIS CREW DELIVERED TOOK EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE TO BRING IT AND THE HEAVY STAND OVER AND WESLEY IN THE PROCESS OF DESIGNING A CUSTOM FILTRATION SYSTEM FOR IT. I COULD NOT AFFORD A NEW SET UP AND I AGREED TO LET WESLEY FIX AND SET UP AND DESIGN THE MOST EFFICIENT FILTRATION POSSIBLE FOR THIS TANK. I AM VERY FUSSY WHEN IT COMES TO QUALITY AND CLEAR WATER AND HEALTHY FISH. IN CLOSING I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE STARTED THIS GROSS UNDERTAKING OF A 375 GALLON TANK IF IT WASN’T FOR WESLEY. IN A STORE LIKE SEASCAPE THERE ARE A HANDFUL OF EXPERTS TO GO AROUND. BE PATIENT SARASOTA, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL MAKE A FRIEND.

Ive been going to Seascape for quite a few years and they really know what they are doing. They carry a very good selection of plants which is great! I do planted tanks and its not easy to get good quality ones in our area. They also carry quite a few products which I use such as SeaChem and Chemi-pure. I also found that if you need something and they are out they are more than willing to order what you need. Ive always been able to get really great advice from them on fish purchases. Their fish are very healthy. Theyve upgraded and have a fantastic selection of saltwater fish. I dont have saltwater but they are cool! Basically, they are my favorite local store because they carry the better products while basic stores like Petco and Petsmart carry lower end equipment. If youre serious about the aquarium hobby, Id go to them as theyll give you good advice. Its a busy store but that just shows that they know what they are doing. If you have a question, wave a store employee over as they arent very intrusive when youre shopping so youll feel able to really look at stuff without the over the shoulder feeling. Recently Ive noticed some people posting things about this store that are just not acceptable and frankly - dishonest. Ive been shopping with them for over five years and Ive never gotten any diseased fish from them - not one case of ich. The only time I ever got ich was from shopping at a big box store like Petsmart or at a store where they dont maintain their water systems which can cause sick fish. Also, they are fair on their prices. Ive looked up costs on fish online and they are not overpriced. This store is one of the few that carries some higher end fish [like Discus and even Blue German Rams that require special water requirements and even some unusual river stream loaches] which you cant buy in the big box shops. I am not related to the owners so this review is based on my experiences with the shop. Ive never found them to be anything but nice and honest so youll enjoy your experience here. If you have questions about a product - flag down someone and ask. They will help.

Dear Brandon Urban, I dont know why in the world you feel so wronged by myself or our company. As I tried to tell you before, I was trying to look out for your Oscar when I told you to wait until I had sold off the 5 other large Oscars other customers brought in a week before, because big ones often fight & I didnt have a lot of extra space for them. I didnt want you to bring him in until I had room for him. I said I would offer a lot more once I had sold off some of the other big ones. Im sorry you took offense to a lower offer, with patience I would have taken care of you as I do everything I can to accommodate everyone. Although spreading ludicrous and vindictive lies might make you feel better, it does nothing for public interest. We pride ourselves on having the healthiest stock, we handpick, we prophylactically treat all of our fish, and we check all of them multiple times through out the day. Please stop spreading malicious lies about our company; if we are in the wrong or make a mistake, we will own it. The ludicrous lies you have posted however only showcase petty dishonesty. By the way, when I approached you a couple days ago, I was trying to let you know on a personal level the only thing important to me when we had last spoke was first and foremost the health of your Oscar, it was not about how much I could get or how much it cost, or about your inconsequential review. P.S. - no one here has ever tried to get $30 for any Oscar no mater how large or beautiful. Even the biggest of what we had before your first review were marked down to $15, hence why you were offered $5. We offer 30% retail value in credit, just as we always have, although supply and demand might affect this, as it did in your case.

Used to be a great store. They have removed a lot of their stock of fish and the atmosphere is unfriendly and unprofessional. They used to be fair on prices when trading in fish. Now they are cheap. They offered me 5 bucks store credit for a large oscar and said we cant give you anymore because we cant sell them. They then make the attempt to sell large oscars for over 30 dollars. No wonder they cant sell any. Be prepared to spend some time in the store as well. Help is hard to come by. I refuse to support this store and will look elsewhere for any of my pet needs. Also to note most of the fish i have purchased from here over many years have brought ich into my aquarium. So be aware that if you do buy a fish from here it may have dieseases that will harm your aquarium. Would like to update my review. I decided to give the store another chance and I went in and bought one red Oscar and 2 silver dollars. Low and behold both silver dollars have ich. They say its my tank. Well they obviously dont understand ich. If your tank doesnt have ich and cannot get it unless it is introduced by an outside source. Anyway the owners son also confronted me about my review when I was in the store. I will not be taking my review down. If you want good fish I highly recommend Father Fish in Venice. I knew better than to try this store again and years later the result is still the same.
