Figured give this one a try. Showed up for a 1pm showing....at 1pm. Figured I had time to get a drink and the like before going in, as every theater everywhere else starts the credits at showtime. Walked in the theater it self at 1:05....to find I had missed previews....and 5 minutes of the movie. Theater was comfortable, but the screen has to be the smallest in town and the volume was so low that I could barely hear anything quiet (Ive got great hearing) and the person I took to the movie (whos deaf in 1 ear) could barely hear anything outside of explosions. To top it off, the movie constantly had little white splotches popping up on the screen and every time they popped up, the speakers popped loudly. Ended up paying to see the same movie again 3 days later elsewhere. Had been looking forward to checking this theater out and walked away with maybe the worst movie theater experience I had ever had. Never again.

I think it is a gr8 theater for the price and they have lots of amenities to accommodate different strokes for different folks. I dont drink but they have alcohol if your going to see a show and want to relax and unwind and watch a movie.I love how they have the $2 movies for the kids for the summer with free popcorn and a drink,I mean a drink and popcorn cost more than $2.00. I love the special shows they have. Some ppl were coplaining about the seatsyou have to realize this is an older theater. Anyways we love this theater for price, unique showings and great looking out for the kids and parents wallets at times.

A plucky community effort to keep the venerable Marion Theater open has been a definite plus for downtown Ocala. It provides a good reason to go there. The Marion was handsomely renovated several years ago by a private developer, then nearly closed before a private-public rescue kept it going. First-run features now play in the main auditorium and in a smaller upstairs theater created out of old balcony space. Ocala offers few movie venues (basically two other sites and a drive-in), but none with more old-school charm. Refreshment options include wine and beer, not something you find at the typical megaplex.

I really wanted to love this theater as it is convenient for me. However, the seat rows are far to close, I kept banging my knees on the chair in front of me. The seats are not comfortable either. The walkway lighting is far too bright and high - its distracting and you cant get way from it. Even daylight scenes on the movie screen looked like you were watching through dark sunglasses. The audio system started out wonderful, but then I realized that voices were only coming from the front and were overpowered by surrounding sounds. But its cheap ($6 for a matinee) so I guess you get what you pay for.

This place is good with movies and reasonable with prices. However, I swing by sometimes and see the same people working 10 hour shifts or more, with rarely any days off. This place needs to hire more people, sick of seeing the same folks there all day! I also heard from an old employee that whoever the manager is, pays under the table unless the employees requests checks. Out of all the times I went there, even once or twice for an famous event, I NEVER seen the manager give her employees a break. This theatre is bad for business...

The Marion is absolutely beautiful. From the screenings of classics, to the Ocala Symphony Orchestra events, to local independent movie premieres, and stunning variety shows, this is just, all around, a perfect setting for an unforgettable experience. The lobby is stunning and is full of neon. This theater is a living example of what going to the movies in the golden age of Hollywood mustve been like. So, enjoy a classy experience at the movies, get a glass of wine and settle in at the historic Marion Theater.

Beautiful vintage theater right off the downtown square. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Lovely seating, great staff, well priced concessions and even beer and wine available for adults at night. They run several opening night events during the year. My favorites were the events for Harry Potter and The Great Gatsby. This is definitely a wonderful contribution to the community and an enjoyable place to see a movie! Id choose it over the big theaters any time!

Best prices around, good bar a block away, tastey popcorn you get alot for the price with is better than anywhere else, reasonably priced beer. Only have two complaints.First, I feel like the movie was a bit blurry, thats probably why its a cheaper place but it bugged me a bit. Also halfway through the movie the concession stand was closed! Couldnt get a refill, popcorn,or another beer! However I still liked it and will definitely be back for a matinee some day.

Have been coming to this theater since the renovation and love it. The employees are great, the prices are great and the whole vintage atmosphere is well done. If there is one complaint is the picture quality on the bottom floor. Most regal theaters have installed 4k projectors and this one cannot come close but hopefully that will change. Other than that a great local theater.

I wish there were more spaces like this still around. Marion Theater is a treasure in Ocala. Both for its aesthetics and for its support of local arts. Marion at Midnight is held at this theater and for that reason alone Ill always support this beautiful theater. For standing up and saying that burlesque belongs, freedom of speech belongs and our art history belongs.

Love Love LOVE the Marion Theatre. Prices are fair, even on drinks and popcorn, staff is friendly and helpful, and love the history of the place, and the downtown location. This will always be my favorite spot to see a movie, and we ALWAYS check there first for whats playing.

I come here as often as I can. The Marion theater as an excellent alternative to the big theaters if you want a place with a more laid back and friendly atmosphere. Plus they serve beer and wine and who can argue with that?

My sons and I saw star wars over the weekend and we enjoyed the movie and the theatre! The prices are reasonable for the movies and food. Just wish they offered free refills on large popcorn and sodas as most places do!

I love this little theater. In todays cookie cutter America, where I weary of chain businesses duplicated in every hamlet, Marion Theater is a breath of necessary fresh air.

Nice clean theater. Order a beer. The theaters are small. The seats and rows seem a little tighter than other places. But still a nice experience.
