Fair warning: this is a long, detailed review. Skip it if you cant handle it. I go to a lot of movies and this is my preferred cinema. Clean, bright screens with excellent sound (rarely too loud). Comfortable, semi-reclining seats. Stadium seating in all rooms, most obviously in the IMAX room. The friendly staff does a great job cleaning up after the jerks that leave their trash behind. I cant remember the last time I encountered a sticky spot on the floor. And I often see the staff trying to help after a show when someone is looking for something they dropped. There is plenty of parking (it is a mall!) and the third level of the rear parking garage is basically just for the cinema. The cinema could do better about people on their phones or talking to each other during movies, or people that bring kids that are too young, but these are problems common to many cinemas. While of course it would be nice if it wasnt needed, there are often people in the seats that will warn the troublemakers about their rudeness, rather than saying nothing and letting them ruin the movie for everyone else, so feel free to do the same. But it would be better if they had a staff member monitoring from the top row, especially during the most popular movies. Didnt theaters do that in the past? They have a great variety of concessions with prepared foods, ice cream, and more in addition to the usual popcorn, candy, and soda. Yes the concessions are very expensive, but again that is typical of nearly all cinemas. You know they dont make (much, if any) money from the tickets, right? And of course the mall has plenty of restaurants and the food court if you have time to go before or after your movie. Some even have discounts or specials when you show them your movie tickets. The cinemas front desk will hold your leftovers container if needed so you wont have to toss it to go into the theater. For the movie buffs out there, I am aware the IMAX room is not true IMAX, but for that youll have to go to a science museum and they rarely show mainstream movies. This is about as good as it gets outside of that or the gigantic screens in Manhattan. I have not been to the new IMAX room in Manchester, CT but this one in Milford is way way better than the pathetic screen Manchester had the last time I was there. If you have a problem the staff or a manager will listen (some places wont even do that), and they will try to rectify the matter if possible. For the most popular movies the lines can be long, but usually theres no issue. Just dont be that young couple that shows up late to a nearly full room and then asks people to move so they can sit together.

I recently went with a friend to Rave Motion Pictures at the Milford Mall. Usually we give our business to a smaller theater in Seymour, but on this particular occasion we were seeing The Dark Knight Rises, and wished to see it in the best quality possible, which we were under the impression Rave could provide. At a pricey $11.50 for my movie ticket, I expected a quality movie going experience. Unfortunately this was anything but. During the previews, my friend and I agreed that the volume was uncomfortably loud even for a theater that size. Upon viewing the film, we noticed a crackling sound coming from the speakers which got progressively worse, particularly during scenes with shoot outs and loud bass. Obviously, a speaker had been blown. We notified management, who sent an associate in to observe the issue. His solution was to literally pause the movie to "reboot the sound system," which did absolutely nothing. The crackling seemed worse even, to the point when Batman first emerges, the crackling was so loud it literally hurt the ears, as many people had to cover them. Amazingly, only my friend and I got up to get an immediate refund, urging others on our way out. We of course had to go threw the usual BS in justifying our refund, being offered another showing... etc. When we definitively demanded our money back the woman who worked their gave us this outrageous excuse that theyd been sent a bad digital copy with peaking audio levels. If this had been opening week, I might have bought it... but considering that this was 2 weeks into screening, youre charging 11.50 a ticket, and you think its ok to cheat people out of their money? Shut it down until you fix the problem, dont take advantage of your patrons like that. Of course, I know that their speakers were simply blown because of the ridiculous volume level. In the end, we ended up going to the Seymour theater which was 2 and a half dollars cheaper, perfect sound quality, and a great movie going experience all around. Will never come back to Rave, and should have charged them for my ringing ears walking out.

This probably isnt the place to go if youre hard of hearing or deaf. The closed caption devices dont work and the manager (Robert Lilien) and staff are not attentive to proper accommodations. I havent been to a movie in ages due to my hearing but decided to give it a chance for the new Star Wars flick. A potential memorable good time was quashed. Device didnt work and no one could give any direcrions about what to do, so my wife and I left 20 min into the film. Then we got bounced around from line to line when trying to get a refund. It wasnt a total loss as Ive discovered that a movie theatre is the perfect excuse to eat a tub of popcorn and not feel bad about it! :) Seems like a nice place to catch a flick, though, with a bar to boot!! Just not if you have a hearing disability.

With all due respect to peekaboofatty, rating this theater 2 stars based on the ticket machine is like panning a restaurant based on the fact that its ATM machine is faulty. Ticket machines (and ATMs for that matter) are owned by other companies and youre putting your credit card info at risk using any public machine of that type. That said, lets talk about the theater which is lovely and clean, bathrooms are spotless, plenty of people at the concession stand so the lines are never long. The directors hall is luxurious in that the seats are great no matter where you sit and having snacks delivered to your seat makes you feel like you own the place. haha I give it 5 stars and no I dont work there nor am I related to or friends with anyone who does.

I had visited Cinemark on Saturday (26th March) with my wife and 2 kids (7yrs and 1.9 yrs). I had taken child ticket for my 7 yr old kid and didnt take for my 2nd kid as she has not completed 2 yrs but the Manager has forced me to buy the ticket for the little one also. He said it is the policy of Cinemark kids above 1 yr need to avail the kids ticket. I didnt see this any where in Cinemark website and I have asked him show the same but he had so rude and didnt show me the rule and asked me to contact the higher management. I have been going to so many movies in different Cinemas no one asked me the ticket for my little one. I would not prefer this cinemas with little kids.
