I give this five stars. I was pleasantly surprised at not only the size of the portion but the taste of the food as well. Everything is pretty much homemade and is served what they call “family style.” The main course comes on your plate, but the sides come to your table in bowls, so you dish up how much mashed potatoes and gravy, rice pilaf and green beans you want. Dessert was a cherry cobbler. The wait-staff, who are also actors in the play, are friendly and attentive and kept our coffee and water topped off the whole time. I judge places by how they take care of my coffee cup and these guys were top-notch. We didn’t use the bar. We were seated by some of the characters, our seats being in the very center of the very front row. The “rules” are simple enough, when the villain comes onstage, you boo and hiss loudly. When the hero comes on, you cheer. When the heroine comes on you say, “oooooh-aaaah” and when the softhearted vamp comes out you say, “hubba-hubba.” You also interject “aw” at appropriate moments and other things that might fit. These were talented people who could sing and dance as well as act and most importantly, have fun with it. The melodrama is only the first half of the show, however. During the intermission we were treated to singing by a lounge-style singer who also led a sing-along of some old ragtime melodies, such as Shine on Harvest Moon and Let Me Call You Sweetheart along with others, including Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary. Not only were we celebrating our 35th but there was a young couple there who were celebrating their 10th. This all segued nicely into a 1980’s style olio. They entertained us with a selection of songs from the eighties and timeless old jokes. It was a rather jarring fact to realize that music from the eighties is qualifies as Oldies. I really enjoyed this part a lot. The cast had been watching me all evening and I am a good sport so at one point the girls in the cast brought me onstage, sat me in a chair, put Mickey Mouse ears on my head and sang “Oh Mickey you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind…” etc, to me. I was laughing and enjoying myself. I mean, what’s not to enjoy with three beautiful girls singing to you, right?

What a great night out! The dinner was home style chicken or pot roast. Our waitress Britt was polite and full of energy. Our meal came out hot and delicious. The bar tender was quick with a smile and service. In between dinner and the show we took a lovely stroll down by the river. The experience continued as the actors and actresses seated us and began ramping up the crowd. After giving the audience instructions on shouting, caterwauling and clapping for the heroes and booooing the villain, Marys peril was a rip roaring side splitting western nail biter. Intermission was a great sing a long and the Disney olio finished out a great evening. As the actors and actresses pulled people on stage or strutted the aisle it was a non stop success. If you are in Colorado and dont make time for the Iron Springs chateau Melodrama you are missing out on the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Bravo team!

I attended the Iron Springs Chateaus Grand Opening under new management on March 15, 2013 for dinner and show. I tried both the chicken and beef dinner, which started with a fantastic salad, I loved the crisp freshness of the greens and large chunks of red cabbage. The chicken, rice and fresh green been dinner was perfectly seasoned while the beef was so tender and flavorful combined with mashed potatoes & gravy with green beans. I highly recommend the meal and my compliments to the chef. Keep up the good work, I look forward to their vegetarian dinner. The managers have a wonderful wait staff and bartenders. I really had a lot of fun at the show, enjoyed the variety of acting and singing, melodrama effects of engaging with the audience, the piano accompaniment, I loved it all! I wish Iron Springs Chateau a successful year and want tourists and locals to know that the days of lousy food is over!

We went there for a birthday/anniversary/family night out. The Dinner Theater is under new management and they have done a GREAT JOB! The food (we had the baked chicken) was very good and so was the rice pilaf and mashed taters. The dining room has a very rustic feel to it with stuffed animals on the walls and shelves. The entertainment that evening was great. The actors/actresses seemed to genuinely care about their performances. The comedy was very appropriate for our 2 sons (10 and 6) and a few jokes for the adults as well. This is where I really think the 5 stars comes into play. As a side note I forgot a bag there on a Saturday night and called/emailed the dinner theater when i realized i forgot it. The owners called me back on Sunday morning and met me to return it. The owners did. They took time out of their only day off to make sure i got my bag back. Thank you very much.

Get away from the doldrums of fast food & movies. The Melodrama-Dinner Theatre is most definitely great frivolity for the family. For me this made for a awesome and arousing date night where we actually looked at each other talking and chuckling. The ambiance of the Chateau was charming and the victuals served were delightfully delicious. There is nothing better following a hearty meal than laughter-after. I have to say that at the end of it all, I really did enjoy the show or (melodrama). The actors and actresses were energetic in there roles, with great singing voices and spot on comedic timing. There is a bit of novelty being served by your actors. I say go for the day around Manitou Springs, but end it at Iron Springs Chateau.

We recently attended family night and the Grand Opening under new Management at Iron Springs Chateau. The food was absolutely delightful with roast beef or chicken, vegetables and homemade cherry cobbler. The show afterwards was awesome! Second half of the show was hilarious and I havent seen my husband laugh so hard in years! The price is excellent and the service outstanding! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs or from anywhere in the United States to visit this very old and extremely entertaining dinner theater for a great night out! The staff went above and beyond for my family. My father in law is disabled and has a very hard time walking. They sat us right inside the door for dinner and they made special accommodations for us during the show for easy access seating, along with a wheelchair and escort to and from the theater. Delores was just a wonderful employee and made our experience even better with her kind and friendly personality and her eagerness to help plan a last minute birthday gift for my mother in law. Will go back and highly recommend the experience!!

Not only were we the sole spectators under the age of 55, but the performance was so embarrassing and so first-year-of-drama-school (not to mention sexist and of course heteronormative) that we wouldnt go back if someone paid us. You might like it if youre white, old, straight, middle class and severely culturally understimulated, but I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.
