I attended my first and last show at the Summit recently. About 1/3 of the way into the main acts set, a security staff member (white male, tall, graying hair, late 30s) rudely accosted me and accused my party and specifically myself of smoking (weed, I guess?) and would not leave me alone, yelling at me for 2-3 minutes despite my repeated denials that I or anyone in my party (which consisted of my husband, my 23-year-old son and his girlfriend) had been smoking. I happened to be recovering from a cold that night, my voice was barely working and was audibly impaired, and my drug of choice was Ricola cough drops. He continued to insist 5 or 6 times that we (and specifically I) had been smoking, and then he changed tack to a different argument -- he didnt actually care if it was us; we were somehow responsible for the behavior of everyone sitting on the balcony and if we didnt "spread the word" (direct quote) and somehow force all of the strangers who were sitting and standing near us to stop smoking, he was going to "kick everyone on the balcony out of the show." Questionable logistics aside, this is a completely absurd request and reveals a truly appalling lack of professionalism, and the whole interaction completely ruined the vibe of the show for me. On a side note, theres also a nearly intolerable level of douchey hipster try-hards in the place.

Awesome sound. Awesome venue. With both of those being said I truely wish there was an area for the disabled to sit. Granted I was using crutches and could kind of get up the stairs there was no real place I could go to actually see any of the bands. Security told us we could put some stools against the sound board area. We could see kind of through the wall of people standing in front of us. That was until a group of tall people stood right I front of us. Not entirely their fault since that is standard etiquette at most venues. I kind of wish they had not ignored the fact that we couldnt see past them. Left early because we did not get to SEE the show we paid for. Made me mad that disabled people wont get to see the same show unless they are able to get seating up top before everyone else. Still the best venue for the sound hands down. Just dont go if you are disabled.

This was the first time Ive been here since it became the summit. I had no problems with the security guards - in fact, they were friendly which usually isnt the case at most venues. The price for beer is actually average for the location theyre at, so no qualms there - It was easy and dare I say pleasant to get a drink. I originally thought the bar was really understaffed with two people for a packed show, but they did an excellent job of getting drinks served very quickly...Impressive! The sound was OK, but only if you are right in the middle of the floor in front of the stage (seemingly the best spot for sound is right at the sound booth...go figure). I normally stand off to the sides since I hate crowds, and at most venues I can at least understand the words, but not so much here...Oh well. Over all, a pleasant experience, and thanks for the good show.

Absolutely deplorable ada policy here, no designated ada seating area, had to leave before headliner came out because i could not see anything but peoples asses in front of me not to mention drunk people climbing up on the back of my power chair. Completely impossible to navigate with a chair in this venue. Bathrooms not even close to accessible when its busy same for the side bar. Filing complaint with ada hopefully will force changes. Unbelievable. Also they use the wheelchair entrance ramp for the box office line so that wheelchair patrons who already have a ticket have to wait in the ticket purchasing line anyways which was bs. I was advised by management that handicap persons should show up 3+ hours early next time to sit up front. Not acceptable , total discrimination. Summit you suck.

Go here if you LOVE the artist. If it is not an important show/concert to you, dont make yourself go here. Service amd security do not care. Security lets everyone do whatever they want, but when they get bored they come and get rid of someome they are annoyed by. I am not talking about my friends. I am talking about random people who did nothing worse than anybody else in a 3 yard radius. They dont care, they get paid. One star for the artists, and another star for the alright sound system. Good bass. The ambiance is that of the sticky back areas of Costco that only employees can access...but they painted it black. The interior decorating is D E A D. Dont go here for an uplifting show. It would be like listening to Beethoven in Compton(just a comparison, Summit isnt that dangerous).

Love seeing metal shows here-- Big bar and separate eatery/food area* Really hate the stage set-up and small floor space~ really limited standing and viewing (ie.: large stair-cases blocking a lot of potential viewing space and awkward angles. Expansion of stage-access and standing-room would be key,~ itd be good if they could figure out a way to utilize the massive staircases~ to either incorporate additional viewer access/seating~ and/or blow em out and drop the upstairs space (whatever is up there) out, OR make it available balcony seating, etc. ~ Pretty cool venue, tho. SodaJerk does a great job putting on the shows

I saw Stiff Little Fingers at this place. I dont know what people are expecting for a bloody punk music venue,,,the Taj Mahal? I dont drink, so dealing with the bar staff is not an issue for me,,,and quite frankly I am not impressed by anyone who tries to prove how punk rock they are. You can get a burger there at a reasonable price, and the guy working that area was very friendly to me,,,as was the security guy very nice to me also. Maybe you should drop the "I am a punk" chip on your shoulder, and grow up! I was a punk back in the 80s in the UK, so spare me the wannabe crap. Posers!!

The theater is a little awkward, set up a lot like Cervantes. The bartender staff was horrible. They are on a power trip and very rude to the customers unless your a scantly clad attractive female. The bartender literally told me I could ask him 3 questions about the drinks they have and their specials. What a way to make money in an establishment. The actual show was good but the people running it seem like they dont know what theyre doing or just complete assholes I dont know. Go see your band if they come here just dont have high expectations for anything but the music.

Ive been to the Summit for numerous shows and never had a problem with the security...the security guys seem pretty standard to me. The sound is definitely way above average. You can see the stage from everywhere--even the bar. Killer views from the balcony too. Compared to other venues this size, definitely the best way to get up close to the bands. 6 bucks for a PBR tall boys not bad--its Lodo. Im sure rent is not cheap on Blake Street.. As someone else said, the bar is HUGE, so its always easy to get a beer. Cool place.
