The overall service and design of this place is horrific. The doors open at 7:30 for a show, so we got there at 7:30, as we only had general admission tickets. Well, we, along with about 90 other people, were all shoved into a tiny location for about 45 minutes as they were apparently running very late. The "holding place" for the entire audience is a tiny area that shares the waitressing bar area, the bathrooms and the general walk area for the bar patrons. It literally couldnt be designed worse. To add to it, the employees seemed to just "expect" this kind of delay. So, we knew they were known for their pizza, so we figured we give that a try once we got to our seats. Only to find out, you cant order food from within the venue, but you can go out and order it, then go in and out of the venue to check to see if the food is done. This is no easy task, not to mention ridiculously annoying if you are trying to watch the show in any respect. Further, only about 2% of the people get a table, so once you get your pizza, you are left to awkwardly hold it while the packed room attempts not to knock it out of your hands, etc. The final straw, is that the actual venue itself is completely oversold for the space they have, with almost no AC and/or ventilation. We will literally make sure to avoid this place, no matter how good the music is or how cheap it is to see them. Its a shame, with just a little effort this place could be pretty cool.

Came for dinner and then concert. Pizza was very greasy. Extremely poor planning on the layout of where line forms for the venue. Right in front of both bathrooms, in the walkway between tables so servers have to say excuse me and people lean over your table to let them pass, and then out the door onto the patio. Found out by chance when talking to the waiter that concert was standing room only. Knew gen admission, but no info anywhere in web, in confirmation or even in venue to say that. 8 months pregnant...not exactly my idea of a good way I spend the evening. Got here @ 5:30 for dinner before concert that said it was @ 7, turns out wont start until 8. Only to now be seated at the back because thats the only place they would accommodate me with a tall stool. If you need ADA accommodations, youll find it very difficult here.Performer may be great, but I wouldnt come to this place again. Too disorganized and greedy...just trying to get as many people ($) as they can.

I live and work near the Walnut Room on Walnut Street. That’s why it hurts me so much to rate this place so poorly. I’ve been there about 30 times total, and have ordered nearly everything on the menu. The food is good, the pizza is great, but the service is quite possibly the WORST IN THE WORLD. I’ve waited over an hour of a cheese flippin’ pizza!!! I and many of my peers have experienced drunk, lazy kitchen staff, apathetic bartenders, and an overall miserable crew. The last (and final) time I was there (3/2010) I sat down with my girlfriend, and we waited over 20 minutes for someone to wipe down the table, much less acknowledge us! We walked out without ever having been approached or acknowledged as patrons. I wish the owner would pull his head out, and either revamp his staff or have them take a basic course on customer service. The pizza is good but definitely not worth all the trouble and irritation.

I frequent The Walnut Room often and always get the best service. Being a Chicago girl and loving hot sandwiches, I am SO grateful to have found The Walnut Room. As of recently, they have been making their own bread and its AMAZING!!! Combine it with fresh meats and their basil pesto spread and its the best sandwich around in my opinion! The Cranberry Walnut salad is my go-to as well:) I ordered delivery the other night and knew the bill was just a bit higher than normal. The driver was actually the chef (that made my dinner!!) due to an employee being sick and unable to do deliveries for the night. He had noticed I had been charged just a bit extra and provided me the difference. So kind and awesome!! They have also dropped their delivery charge which totally helps and allows for a bit more go towards tip!

I have never been compelled to submit a restaurant review. Tonight changed it. I ordered online, showed up when the order was projected to be ready (20 minutes for a cold sandwich wrap). I was told the order hadnt even been started yet. When I talked with the MOD, he was proud that he had a 27-minute ticket time on a Friday night. I dont care at all about compensation for bad service but when i challenged the MOD what he would do to make it right, he said, "Nothing. 27-minutes on a Friday is pretty good." (Again, cold sandwich wrap) This is the mediocrity youre striving for? Ive had bad service and sense of urgency here many times before but have overlooked because the food is good. After tonight, no more. Fix it.

Really great pizza and all my dining in experiences have been good. I really dislike the change in procedure for ordering take out. What was a two minute phone call has become a time consuming nuisance. One must create an online account to order and it doesnt have a cash payment option. There are many times when I am working or do not have easy access to the internet for various reasons, which limits my ability to order. I understand encouraging people to use an online app but not offering a phone option seems unnecessarily restrictive. I know that I will not order takeout at this point because I really hate the process and find it to be frustrating and inconvenient. I hope you reconsider this change.

I just dont know how a neighborhood bar can keep this guy on staff for more than a year. Forgive me for not knowing his name, but its probably because hes never introduced himself to me in the 50 times Ive been there. I call him sunshine. Hes the guy who always has the fitted hat on sideways/backwards and hasnt smiled since his 3rd birthday. Youll either find him out front smoking or behind the bar not making eye contact with anyone. If there are less than 4 people in the bar, rest assured hell be texting and icing the customers. My only thought is this guy is the owners sisters loser son who needs a job from his uncle.

Did not eat the food, but went for a show. The venue for the show doesnt make a lot of sense, because theres room for a few dozen people to sit at tables, but they sell twice as many tickets as that. If you get there when doors open, you might get a table, but then you wont be able to see the show because theres nowhere out of the way for the rest of the folks to stand. The bar wont let you stand by the bar, so that means your choice is to stand in front of people at tables. Genius arrangement. Need to either only sell as many tickets as seats, or do away with the silly table arrangement.
