Ive been to this venue multiple times, and have seen some great bands here. Some of the performances Ive attended had perfect sound; at other times, however, it couldnt have been worse. Now, Ive been to many venues and understand that technical difficulties are often unavoidable, but when I saw some local bands perform here a little over a week ago, I was EXTREMELY displeased with the quality. The guy running the sound booth had the bass overwhelming the guitar--which was already quiet enough--for the first three bands that played. Ive seen each one of those bands play before without any technical difficulties, so I know that the venues sound guy was doing it. I would look over at him and he would be in the booth, texting--it didnt look like he was doing much. Simply put, this venue is a cool place, but some of the staff could be nicer and do their jobs better.

One the best venues in Colorado! Every concert is intimate because of the size of the venue even if the show is sold out. The workers and management are some of the nicest people you will find at any venue. Sometimes it is amazing the type of acts that they pull into a such a small club but that just speaks for how amazing the management is. If I could see an artist at the black sheep or red rocks, hands down I would pick the black sheep and the crazy thing is that has happened. They have even had artists play the Pepsi Center and then play the black sheep the very next day. Cant get better than that.

Arguably the best local venue in town. They attract good artists, regardless of your musical tastes. The bar is sparse in selection, but not terribly overpriced for a venue. The atmosphere varies from night to night, especially depending on the size of the crowd. Have had some great shows that ended up being intimate performances due to low turnout. The biggest drawback is the lack of a real solution for parking. Parking is free along the street, and usually isnt a huge problem, but it is inconvenient and can be a longer walk than anticipated.

Right, update from previous review: I will rescind my aforementioned "assholery" comment because when I went back tonight the staff were helpful and actually wanted to hear what I had to say, which is good and I give props. And while Im sure theyre reading this review again, Im afraid I do have to stick to my convictions on this one; you guys should reconsider your "no re-entry" policy. I get your wristband policy, its just not my favorite. Your establishment is not the cleanest. But thanks for putting up with my grump.

Enjoyed this small dive last night. It was my first time at Black Sheep. We went to watch Tribal Seeds!!!! Being that the place is small it made the experience that much better. Love the vibe and the look. Got to chat with some of the musicians. The bar was quick and consistent. The staff wasnt uptight. We were front and center , got several awesome photos of the band! The parking isnt the safest or grestest but who cares, the venue is what youre paying for. Will definitely be returning!!!

Every time I step in The Black Sheep, I think, "Has it always been good small?". This concert venue offers a unique experience compared to others in the state. No matter where you are in venue, youre VERY close to the band (which I think is awesome!). It does get warm due to the amount of people in such tight quarters, but its never bugged me too much. Parking here can be a pain. I would definitely recommend showing up early to accommodate this.

Have been here a few times.... if youre into moshing and small, crowded venues, this is your spot! If youre looking for a decent bathroom, look much further! Glad to see that they recently fixed the parking lot, now just gotta work on the inside. Lighting is terrible and the floor mainly sticky and dirty. Id say pick another venue, but this place is pretty popular despite the lack of outside appearances, so go with the flow in the mosh pit.

Its kind of a small, dirty venue. The bar is fairly well stocked, the staff is friendly, and the sound system is solid. I enjoy coming here because there is no pretention, prices are solid, big name bands play here, and the small size lets you get right next to the artist. Its also a great place to meet the artist, as they usually hang out and have a drink after their set.

Its what weve got in the Springs. Nothing special, but Im glad weve got it. The show I went to was just fine. The music playing before the act was appropriate, the the place was clean, and the sound was good. Local beer on tap for good prices, which is more than I expect from most venues.

A good place to see a small show, make sure you dont mind standing if you buy tickets for a show. The bar service is good and fast. Biggest drawback is bathrooms are small (2 stalls) but clean. But the crowd is friendly so the close proximity to others enhances the experience.

Parking can be a pain at times but Id say this venue brings in some of the best bands. Good chance that if your favorite band is going to be in town that this is where they will be playing, unless they are a really big band that has to play in a stadium.

Great venue. Be careful when you buy tickets online though. Theyll tell you the delivery is free to print your own tickets then charge an $8 service fee. Cheaper to have your tickets mailed to you or pick them up. Otherwise, great venue.

This place has it all, amazing bands, great drink prices, cheap tickets, friendliest staff in town, a laid-back atmosphere, and a sound system that blows everyone else out of the water! Hands down my favorite venue in Colorado Springs.

Staple of Colorado Springs, bands of all genres have played at the black sheep for years, and have gone on to do some big things! New parking lot in the front is a major plus! If you havent been to a show at the sheep, the time is now!

Basically a cinder block box with a bar and a stage. They get pretty good acts, a lot of local bands plus bigger bands usually on their way up or on their way down. Drink selection is good and not overpriced by music venue standards.

Ive never had the bass so loud at a concert that it made me ill and want to leave early. I couldnt even hear the music over the bass, or the singing for the matter. Not a good place for a concert where you want to enjoy the music.

Small venue located on Platte. Parking sucks but overall its good that it small. Having a sold out show is amazing here. Its personal. And intense. Definately bring hearing protection to not have ringing ears the next morning.

Considerable improvement in the sound quality here as its basically a concrete box. However, not only do they feature national acts and several fairly well-known artists, but they also provide openings for local artists.
