A group of us weekend warriors play here about once a month for 2 reasons. One its the easiest place around to get early morning weekend tee times. 2 it is also the cheapest course around. The course has alot of really dumb redundant holes but also has a handful of decent ones as well. The fairways are missing so much grass you will not find any markings for ground under repair (that would cost way to much for the paint) you just have to be willing to move your ball to any grass you can find if you hit the fairway. The greens are usually in really good shape though and are very receptive. Unfortunately 75% of your approach shots are blind due to so many elevated greens. The GPS is very accurate and a welcome addition to this budget course. If this course were any more expensive or didnt now have GPS it would be 1 or 2 stars. But with the GPS and being able to get early times on the weekend with a warm up bucket in the low 40 dollar range it is deserving of a 3 star rating. (TIP: Do not park anywhere near the tall net (it is not tall enough) it is protecting the parking lot from a 100 yard par 3 and I hear a car get drilled almost every time out.)

One word, terrible. The drained remains of the SA river run through the course and most of the long holes are set up in or across the banks of the river. This means most of the holes feature elevated tees and/or elevated greens, and a lot of blind shooting. Sure, its a challenge, but it gets repetitive. Fairways were in terrible condition, and too close to the roped off brush and sand that is/used to be the river. The holes were so cramped together, very dangerous! The greens are supposedly the greatest asset of this course, which is fine and dandy except when youre playing right after they cored sanded them, which I was. The only positive aspect of this course was the relatively cheap price. If youre in the mood to play a "quirky" course, sure, but thats just not my style. Next time, Im going to bite the bullet and fork over a few extra bucks to play real, quality golf somewhere else.

Decent, cheap course. If you come for twilight dont expect to finish your round, both times Ive been here they pull the flags out before dark. There is some dirty looking guy who drives around before it is dark and kicks golfers off the course; he must be in a hurry to go home... He does not do this in a nice or courteous manner and simply tells you that youre done and to return your cart. He was even too lazy to get the flag himself and had my buddy pull it for him. We could have played atleast 2 more holes before it got too dark but he wouldnt let us. This coupled with the unfriendly fellow at the pro shop who always seems to be having a terrible day is enough for me to spend my money at courses that want my business and provide decent customer service. There are way too many courses around to put up with the staff at riverview....

I played River View for my first (and last) time this weekend. This course was doomed from day one by its location. No course should have been built here, plain and simple. It would barely be passable location for a public park. The only positives I can muster are nice greens and nice management. But on the whole, this is the most poorly designed golf course I have ever played. 80% of the course is on the the river banks. Literally on the banks. Numerous holes on the back nine feature galleries of homeless people heckling you while you putt. Not only did this course play 5.5 hours on Sunday, but there was no (visible) marshall to move players along. Unless you are very desperate for a tee time, go somewhere else. Anywhere else.

This is a fun course. No, this is not a "challenging" course with all the fancy frills that some OC golfers might be missing from the $100+ courses in the area. To these entitled golfers, heres a suggestion: keep playing your over-priced glory courses and quit taking tee times from people who might truly appreciate killer greens, long ball holes and an occasional hazard to avoid. If you want to have a good time and save a couple bucks, there is no better course in the OC than Riverview. DO NOT listen to the reviews from haters apparently slumming in our hood. This place rocks- you will not be disappointed.

This really is a fun course! The greens are maintained very well. My buddies and I golf the course at least twice a month. They also have the best putting green Ive ever seen which includes a 18 hole putting course which is a blast. Great service and freindly staff makes the experience so enjoyable that we make a 20 minute trip there about two times a week to just hit balls and put. On Fridays @ 4pm and Sundays @12pm the local high school golf team hosts 1 hour golf lessons for $10 (plus the cost of balls which is purchased seperately).

Course is fine, but tee time management is awful. Had a tee time set for 9am on a Friday morning and there were 3 other 4-somes with the same tee time. We teed off 20 minutes past our tee time and were waiting on every shot. Before we teed off we tried to get a refund but the manager refused in a rude manner. This is the first AND LAST time I will golf here due to the atrocious management and customer service. Their management/manager needs to be retrained.

Great fun especially for the price. Greens are always beautiful. Fairways are growing back now after the winter rains, some are still sandy. I personally love the elevation challenges the river presents, but it may be too much for those used to flat courses. People are friendly and the snack bar makes a great grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onions. Check out the putting practice area, 18 holes there too.

Though the price for a round (riding) was very reasonable, the surroundings made it hard to enjoy the round. A public park is located by the first tee, where kids were sneaking onto the course. Then the course is surrounded by constant traffic noise. The holes are located on the edge of the river banks or more specifically a large drainage ditch where it narrowed the fairway. Course conditions were pretty dry.

Nice driving range and very cool 18 hole practice putting course. The course itself is somewhat unusual in that its built over the Santa Ana Riverbed. Lots of uphill/downhill tee shots. Greens were typical of a municipal course . . . only fair condition with lots of un-repaired ball marks. Come on people . . . fill your divots in the fairways and repair your ball marks on the greens.

Very fun course, unlike any I have played before. Elevated greens and tees, fairways lower elevation on most holes. Play crisscrossing over riverbed. Greens were in great shape, fairways just OK, but with drought to be expected. Play was relatively quick, finished in under 4 hrs on Sunday. Will definitely play again if in the area.

The course is generally in good condition but the layout is just bad due to its location. Youre basically hitting down the river into the fairway and hitting back up to elevated greens on every single par-4 and 5s. The price is fair, but I still wont play here again.
