Do you give this a 5 or a 1???? It is a totally disgusting and vile thing really. I hate the smell of it and it makes you a bit queasy. It however is a mark of distinction that we have such an odd thing encouraged and sanctioned by the city leadership. Some day there will be so much gum stuck up that you will have to turn sideways to go up the alley. If you are a tourist, you just cant miss a walk through this bizarre thing. You can contribute if you are busy with a wad yourself. Maybe some day scientists will clone all the people who ever left gum here from their DNA left in the gum. This might end up being the last bank of human DNA left after the Apocalypse! Come see the vault and contribute for humanity!

I cant believe that so few people have reviewed this little tidbit of local flavor. It has started many look a likes in other cities. I first ran into Bubblegum Alley in about 1970 and it continues to be a chuckle for all. I heard earlier this year that someone was pushing to get it recognized as a national monument, That is a bit of stretch for me, but I guess I could see it as a registered landmark, but that is another issue. Enjoy, giggle and add your own trade mark to enhance the art. -- Not everyplace where you can add to the art, Dont forget your double bubble!

We happened upon it by chance, as we Did San Luis Obispo, a charming little town. Lots of of "local color" in bubblegum alley and a sweet smelling curiosity to happen upon. Would love to know the story behind it began. But until then, it ranks with the largest ball of string in the world.but dont get tied up in expectations. Wander around wherever you are and find your own hidden gems :)

Una pérdida de tiempo y bastante asquerosillo. La ciudad es maravillosa y ofrece mejores opciones que esta callejuela llena de chicles masticados.

Expectation: bizarre work of art made by thousands of people. Reality: joining the array of chewed gum were condoms, condom wrappers, cigarette butts, and a sizable puddle of urine. People had their mouths and noses covered from the stench. I couldnt wait to get out of there due to the disgust and embarrassment.

Symbolic of so many things, either people love to love it, or people love to hate it…but at least it does not provoke disinterest. Bubble gum alley is a gem of a photo op and place to see at least once in your life. It has survived multiple clean up attempts for good reason, it is too cool to stop.

Iv posted at least 25 gums on this wall and have passed through its annals far drunker than I care to admit. bobbing and weaving my way home I sure hope I havent bumbed into the walls too much! no need to seek out this historic landmark, for it will find you!

I went for the first time 20+ years ago and there was a lot of chewed bubble gum people put up and as a kid it was cool. I went back on 7.17.17 and the wall is now black behind the gum...it looks grimy and gross now. Perhaps this is just me being picky.

This is one of a kind and a must see if you are in Santa Barbara. Bring your own gum to stick on the wall. The amount of gum stuck on both sides of the alley is impressive. Not a sketchy back alley. I would call this a family friendly attraction.

A true icon of San Luis Obispo. You have to visit the bubble gum wall at least once while in town. It is right in the heart of downtown and everyone around there is always having fun. I mean its just a wall of bubble gum.

Aside from all the colors of gum it is just a narrow alley that looks like drunken people slap their chewing gum against as they walk through. The smell is strong. Think of a sidewalk in an urban area but on your sides.

If youre downtown Slo for the first time, you should stop by and check out bubblegum alley. Its nothing amazing and its kinda gross, but it is a landmark that people think about when they think of Slo for some reason.

Dont go on rating, you dont want to visit an ally of 4 feet wide where youc an accidently touch someones spit and used bubble gum. I think this is more disgusting than historic 40 years of gums on the walls.

Callejón atípico. Aunque asqueroso de cerca, a una distancia prudencial es precioso

You gotta stop by this place just for fun, yeah, the walls are covered in chewed gum (and maybe other questionable things) but still, get some gum and leave a mark here on this famous alley.

Unique, beautiful and somewhat groce experience . There are thousands of chewing gums stuck by people on the walls of the alley. To walk in the fruity smell was an experience to remember

An Instagrammers dream! I highly recommending slapping some gum on the wall and snapping a few photos. One of those places you have to visit, if nothing else, just to say you saw it!

A nice random alley of bubblegum. Does not smell good, and isnt really anything that amazing to see. Would recommend for a quick 15 second view if you are in the area however.

This place is a staple in our community. I came as a kid and loved recently taking my boyfriend to gross him out. He was thoroughly disgusted, so job well done. Love it here!

My feelings for this place are really indifferent. Its crazy, gross, freaky but also really cool. Make sure to check it out if you are going to SLO for the farmers market

Love it. As a Seattle native and big fan of the Gum Wall, it was great to see the Bubblegum Alley in SLO. Double the fun :) A bit smelly and gross, but still awesome.

Its surprisingly upbeat considering the ridicules idea. I suggest taking your own gum with, the gum from the vending machine next door is exceptionally bland.

Its one of those things that you do when you have a few minutes to spare. You dont really know why you are there but you enjoy yourself when you do it.

Somebody actually started this at some point with one piece of bubblegum. now the whole alley is full of bubblegum. it smells sweet too. Funny to see.

Its a great 30 second stop just to say that you have been there and to take a photo of you and your loved one pretending to eat the gum off the wall.

This was fun to see for the sake of it. Dont expect more than a wall with chewed gum on it, though. Its downtown, so either way, youre in a fun area.

As disgusting as this sounds, really great history. They sell gumballs from the store next to the alley. If you want colored gum, bring your own.

Its an alley full of bubblegum. If youve seen it once thats all you will ever need. Really only interesting at first. Then it is just kinda gross
