I attended PPAC for the first time on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 to see one of my favorite shows, Wicked. Traffic was snarled half an hour before the show and it cost $20 to park at a nearby garage which seemed outrageous. Parking is free at The Bushnell in Hartford and even for events downtown, it costs $10, which seems reasonable. Double that seems exorbitant and blatant price-gouging. The theater itself is beautiful, however, does not have the adequate space or facilities to handle a sold-out show. Overcrowding was apparent and a larger space would definitely have made the experience more comfortable. The acoustics also seemed poor. I have seen the show multiple times and my boyfriend who never sees shows, both agreed the production seemed very quiet. It was not so much a problem for us as we were relatively close to the stage, however, it must have been frustrating for those seating further away. All in all, despite the theaters archietectural splendor, the overall experience was disappointing because of the expensive & chaotic parking, issues of overcrowding, and poor acoustics.

I am giving this venue 2 out of 5 stars not because of quality but because it is time for people to take a stand against stupid extra fees that occur at the end of an order. I spent $200 on tickets but does it end there? No. Each ticket needed to be charged with an extra $15 service fee. What service? Me filling out all the forms online and figuring out the convoluted seating chart? I should be charging that fee not them. Oh and then at the end of it all... $7.00 to have the tickets emailed to me. Where is the free delivery option? Usually email is the free one and tangible mail incurs a fee. I honestly get disgusted at this petty money grubbing that occurs at the end of every ticket order I make. I essentially got upcharged 20% on my tickets for all the work they had to do to digitally process my order? Honestly. I would prefer that cost just get lumped into the ticket price, that way I could pretend I wasnt getting screwed out of an extra 20%...

Ive been here twice, to see Wicked both times. Its a great venue. Absolutely beautiful ambiance. I have sat in the 2nd balcony both times and have had a great view at a pretty decent price. Sign up for the mailing list and get discount codes every once and awhile. Everyone working at PPAC, from the ticket takers to the ushers and food/drink vendors were super nice. During intermission, we found the lounge at the bottom of the stairs from the left balcony to be perfect. Its kind of tucked away from everyone, so it was a lot less crowded than the other vendors. Theres a convenient garage across the street from PPAC or there are plenty of lots lining the same street. If you want to grab a bite to eat before or after the show, Blakes Tavern is less than a 5 minute walk from the theater and their kitchen is open late.

I have never written a review of a show before but was so impress with the dress rehearsal of "Beautiful" last night I have to comment. GO SEE THIS SHOW....This was best experience I have ever had at a broadway type show ever, anywhere!! The content, songs, acting, writing, sound, lighting,ETC was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I dont know if it was just me, baby-boomer, but I had tears in my eyes most of the time. The Carole King songwriting period was at a crucial time in my life and I was in the music biz here then in L.A. so the Don Kirschner, Neil Sedaka connection really resonated with my sense of nostalgia, This is a MUST SEE show for anyone who loves & misses the sixties and knows Carole Kings songs!! FANTASTIC SHOW!!!

We come to the Providence Performing Arts Center as season ticket holders. We know the productions are great! PPAC has been around for a VERY long time. The architecture is beautiful. The sound quality is great. There are refreshments available. I, personally, love the chocolate chip cookies they sell. They are so good! I just wish the womens bathrooms (one downstairs and one upstairs) were bigger. Dressing in casual clothes us very common. There is a parking garage across the street or you can try to find street parking. You can purchasing season tickets or individual shows. There are also a series of shows for children. Check PPACs website for details.

Beautiful theater, as my mom observed when we brought her here for a birthday gift to see Cabaret. Maybe it was the company; but she said she liked it more than when she saw it years ago in NYC, where she lived. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater did a performance here (with Revelations) a few years ago. Back when Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace came out, a couple of us saw it here months before public release (due to connections at Hasbro). Providence and the state need this theater.

I cant say enough for how accommodating these folks were with my disability. I recommend this place for anyone who is disabled. Unbelievably friendly. Definitely will come back, perfect date night place thats affordable with much wow factor for the lady. It was a great show and just a great GREAT time we had. Again words cant express how great the staff was and the show was. You dont see this very often anymore but outstanding facility here.

I was about to order 6 tickets to see the Rockettes. Then I noticed a $66.00 "convenience" fee. I called the box office and it is a "bargain" of only 9 each ticket if you order by phone. That is outrageous. I refuse to pay that!! I guess Ill take my chances with going to box office and see what seats are left. Sinful, there should be a law against all these fees for what? putting tickets in the envelope? How much could that cost, 2.00?

I was able to attend the Jeffrey Osborne Comedy Show on August 9th with a large group of people. The box office was closed so I sent an email and I received a call back within the hour. Over the next few days, I called 7 different times to keep adding seats and the staff were so helpful and patient with me. They were able to put us all together so we can sit as a group. Stephanie, thank you very much!

Gorgeous theatre with a generous rush policy. Hampered by a notoriously rude clientele. Loud conversations, flash photography, and blatant cell phone use are all par for the course during shows here. During todays matilda, a lady in the loge took a flash photo in the middle of the show then proceeded to work with the photo on her phone full brightness for a solid 3 minutes

Fantastic venue. Have been here to see RENT, The Lion King, and West Side Story and all three were great experiences. The venue has done an amazing job of renovating and maintaining the classic theatre feel while incorporating modern technology and accommodations. Food/drink is overpriced as youd expect, but the staff is very friendly. Best theatre in RI in my opinion.

The chairs are a little small, so it can be a pain in the ass to attend a show in the winter time when everyone has their big coats and scarves and stuff, but the performances are always fantastic. The warm cookies at intermission are delicious, and the beer and wine selection is decent.

Beautiful venue, good visibility from all seats. Comfy seats. Seats arent that big and dont have that much leg room but those arent issues for me. I wouldve given 5 stars if it wasnt so expensive. Parking is also either hard to find on the street or $20 for the near by lots.
