Stayed here at the Hilton San Gabriel for a wedding at the hotel. This Hilton is right across from the San Gabriel Square/99 ranch market and is a convenient location for visitors to Alhambra and the San Gabriel Valley. The hotel is older, but compared to other hotels in that area I would say this is a better one unless you start to go further away like downtown. The front desk was small, but staffed with quick and friendly receptionists. They also give you plenty of water bottles and a goodie bag for being a Hhonors member. This is a smoking hotel so there are designated smoking rooms, i.e. the second floor. Make sure to request room far enough away from them. There is also a smoking area outside the lobby. I stayed at the fourth floor out of six facing the west side. Although there was no part that side does seem to face where the patio and restaurant are where they have wedding receptions. Lucky for us the only wedding was the one we were attending and that was located at the ballroom on the first floor. The room was big and we got a king bed. The bed was comfortable and A/C is a bit noisy, but strong and kept the room well cooled. The room also had plenty of working outlets which seemed to be an issue lately at other hotel rooms. The bathroom was decent sized with a long counter. The shower head had weak pressure, but hot water came immediately. The toiletries were nice. One of the towels had a cleaning agent smell to it, but everything else was fine. Overall I would stay here again based on its location and convenience compared to other hotels in this area. Overall as a Hilton I would say it is great in service. Upon my checkin to my room I was visited by cleaning staff to offer me more water bottles and towels. As for the hotel room and area in general I would say this was average for a hilton.

Ill start of by saying I am a strict Marriott chain fan; but visiting this area, this Hilton was the best choice as the nearest Marriott chain was over 30 minutes away so I reluctantly booked this hotel. Boy was I shocked. First the rooms were $159.00 a nice which is beyond reasonable for the area. When you walk in, the entrance is very grand well lit, and very clean. The front desk clerk was very friendly too. Elevators didnt take a long time either. The rooms were very clean too and didnt have those typical musty smell (or some places use Fabreeze or Lysol). The refrigerator was cool and not like the ones I use elsewhere. Its actually a refrigerator/freezer. If you turn the inside knob all the way to the right, it changes it to freezer mode (I found out the hard way). They had a basket of fresh fruit in the room, as well as room slippers; I thought the carpet was clean and didnt need it but it was a nice touch. The soap and shampoo in the bathroom were not those cheapo ones too; they give you the massaging bar soap. Everything is within walking distance of the hotel; you can literally walk across the street to a nice Sushi spot (they have oyster special happy hour) and a great shopping and eating area too. Ill be back next year.

This is a review for their catering service. Ive been to two weddings now here where Im not impressed by this place at all. I get it, its the SGV area where you cant expect the world but this place isnt all that cheap either. They dont offer too much in terms of service and to be honest, being asian myself, the service is pretty disappointed. This is what took the cake. At my last friends wedding, they were putting away the food to be boxed so that the guest could take it. So I go up to get some food. Ill admit it. Im getto fabulous. So it turns out one of the employees asks me if I took the box in the area. I said yes, she tells me she already claimed it. I mean really? I even clarified if I took it from the wrong stack. NOPE! Confirmed! She expected to take home food from a clients event? I mean.. Are you serious lady? To make it worse, another of her homegirls comes up and says, yea, shes a lady you shoudl give it to here. I work in the customer service industry myself and was like really? Its not about the food but how unprofessional that was. The staff needs to be trained better. This falls on the management.

Even though I didnt stay at the hotel but I happened to pick a acquaintance from the hotel late at night, When I got home, I realize I left something accidently therefore I called the hotel and ask kindly if they can look for it. The guy who answered didnt even ask what I was looking for then put me on hold without asking my permission. they when he came back he said there was only a lighter. I asked him to look for it at a certain place but they were not helping at all. Anyways, so I had to drive back at night and look myself at 130 in the morning in winter. Since I still have a lot of things lining up the next day I really dont see why they could not help me out.

Came for a banquet celebrating Chinese new year and Vietnamese community association. The event was mainly staffed by the association. The staff only served food (not sure if the food itself was catered or prepared by the staff). None the less, the food served was lukewarm. The food itselflf was bland, but as I previously stated, it may have been catered. Anyways, during the banquet getting staffs attention was difficult. They acknowledge us when we waved, but simply walked away and didnt come to the table at all. Do not recommend attending banquet dinners at this location if possible.

I cant believe the very dry ,cold ,old, looks like 1-2 day old food when we arived at SAN GABRIEL HILTON BUFFET. This really upsets us and ruined our day. Ver very few selections of food ,Lobster was like a rubber that you have to struggle to bite and swallow it. They let the people go to the line and theres not enough food. The design of the place was like when I was watching the movies of BRUCE LEE when he was still alive. Sorry to say but very poor reviews to us. Please make the food better and you;ll be okey because staff are friendly and nice.

This location is a shame to Hilton chain. I booked 4 rooms with my diamond membership for total 36 room nights at this Hilton San Gabriel Hotel. I was told I only get 18 vouchers for breakfast, and I was told this is their policy. As a diamond member, I stayed at countless Hilton chain hotels before. This is the first time I wasnt offered free breakfast per person per night. This is very disappointing. With a new Hyatt being built right next door, guess where I will stay in the future. I hope this review helps you make the right choice.

Beautiful lobby. Modern tech includes key tap required to operate elevator and digital key on your phone app. Free bottled water at check-in at the registration desk and in-room is a nice amenity. Free fruit plate in the room is another plus. Soft music playing on the clock radio when you first walk into your room is an unexpected but pleasant surprise, except the clock radio has many small buttons and can be difficult to turn off music if the guest does not read English. And this hotel attracts many non-English speaking visitors.
