Ive been going to GL concerts since the early 70s. Gord, like all of us has gotten older and has lost a bit of the quality his voice once had, but it was still like seeing an old friend in an intimate setting like he portrays in singing the song on "Susans Floor" The food was great. Now the reason for only 3 stars. I had the "seared 26 oz Porterhouse steak with homemade garlic mashed potatoes & asparagus As I said, great food. I did not appreciate the automatically added 20% service charge to the bill that did not apply as a gratuity for the fine service the waitress gave us. That was an additional 15-20% charge, making it a service/service charge for 35-40% on top of the food bill. Show tickets and food and drinks for 4 people was a little over $700.00 I dont think its fair, but that didnt ruin the evening for me. What was extremely frustrating was, after tipping the hostess an extra $30 dollars for a better seat, we were moved to a long table cram packed with 2 dozen other people. I asked about the bigger round tables near us that were empty, and seat 8 people and asked if we could move there. We were told you have to buy all 8 seats at the round table even if you only have 4 people. Ok fine if this is their policy. But, as soon as the concert began, people from the bar wandered over to the empty tables and sat there because the tables was not sold. Several people got up from one table and moved to another empty table which indicated to me they were not assigned that table. Between times some got up and moved or left, other people from the bar walked over to sit in the same seats. Now I know $30. 00 to the hostess isnt a lot of money, but it seems like we should have been allowed to sit at that much bigger table, considering how much money we spent. My final, and most serious complaint was the obnoxious loud talking going on by people standing at the bar, while Lightfoot was performing. One guy, who probably had a little too much to drink began literally screaming GORDON GORDON GORDON GORDON, while a soft spoken Gordon Lightfoot was attempting to tell the rest of the audience a story. Finally a woman a few table away firmly and loudly asked the shouting man to STOP. She, like the majority of the audience had had enough. Why doesnt the Rose have some time of security detail to stop or remove this kind of disrespectful behavior? We paid a very expensive price and should not to be subject to, or berated by boorish uncouth classless individuals that couldnt hold their liqueur. In a crowd of several hundred people, maybe a total of 10-15 were making the venue less than pleasurable for the rest of the paying customers. I doubt that Ill ever go back to the Rose, unless I see or hear that these particular types of behavior will be dealt with in a serious manner on behalf of the well behaved paying customers who came to enjoy this Gordon Lightfoot performance. Thanks for listening, Respectfully, Garry

This venue is the mutant hybrid of a cafeteria and a rock club, embodying the ambiance of the former and the sweaty blocked walkways of the latter. Let me count the ways: 1. The central ventilation system is not operational so it was a good 95 degrees inside the venue. 2. The inadequate industrial air conditioners placed next to the stage are so loud that they out human speech on the PA. It was impossible to hear the artist speak in between songs. 3. Being industrial air conditioners, they created a suction which pumped air right from the kitchens so the venue smelled so strongly of cooking oil that our hair and clothes still smelled of it when we got home. This also made me wonder if carbon monoxide was in the mix as well. 4. Ticketing was extremely disorganized, understaffed, and the folks working at the fold-up table where they gave out wristbands (odd for a venue like this) were extremely rude. This was probably because they had no planned protocol for any normal issues expected to come up over the course of a normal evening. The woman at the tables only discourse was to stop the line, inform the people in the line behind us that it was our fault, and wait for five minutes until the only staff-member capable of putting out fires came over and pushed a button for her. 5. Karaoke didnt have a microphone. The one good thing about this place is a bartender named Glitter. She put her heart and beautiful voice into making a really fun scene after the show gets out and the venue wont even let her use one of the damned mics. This is a music venue for gods sake. They have lots of microphones. 6. There is seemingly no security and a second unmanned entrance relied on the honor code for entry. Perhaps the security personnel were undercover and plain clothed? We had tickets, but it seemed like a handful of neighbors were taking advantage of the honor code. The benefit of this is that we were able to grab seats in the bottle service section without any problem, which probably made some of those folks wonder why they had spent the extra money.

This Rose has too many thorns. Beware this classic upcharge venue. 1. Never buy tickets for anything here beforehand. They are the cheapest when you buy them right before the show. ($75 beforehand or $50 at the show, you decide.) 2. Beware the many upcharges. Tickets are $19 for the show? Awesome! Oh, an $11 fee for this and another fee for that gets me to $50?! Not so awesome. 3. All orders come with an automatic 20% tip charge built right in. I looked at my receipts and its not even shown. You have to ask about it. The receipt just just the subtotal and a space for more tip. 4. Guard your drinks. We all went to the dance floor (15 feet away) and when we came back all our drinks were gone. Many were almost full. When we complained enmasse, they did offer to replace the drinks, but apparently this happens a lot because the bartender attempted very watered down / iced up / all mixer no alcohol drinks as replacements. When my mob revolted, they fixed it. The drink heist was attempted two more times after this even with me watching over them as the others danced. 5. The band we saw (Boogie Nights) played for 90 minutes. Perhaps Im old school, but my group paid $50 - $75 to see this cover band. Either the price is too high or the performance too short. Skip this place, less you be fleeced.

The Rose is a disgrace in all aspects from food quality to management and customer service. It leaves much to be desired as a bar / restaurant given the steep prices charged for generic cold food and diluted drinks. As a music venue, the Rose lacks proper setup and positioning of their sound gear, leaving much to be desired in terms of sound quality. Among endless abysmal traits, the Roses demise comes with their lack of professionalism and neglect towards customers satisfaction and well being. They not only violate(d) numerous health codes such as allowing drainage pipes to clog and backwash sewage water in the kitchen floor, knowingly continuing to operate the facility for a week without access to hot water anywhere in the building, but worse, management allows it all to go on as long as they can coordinate with the rest of staff to keep these violations quiet. Avoid the Rose for the sake of your enjoyment, health and ultimately, ethics.
