One of Long Beachs newest theatre venue on the campus of California State University Long Beach. The 23-year-old performing arts venue is just slightly over 1,000 stadium seats and is utilized by several organizations year-round. The major problem is that the small seats can only fit a 130 pound person comfortably. Anyone that is larger would find the seats to be extremely uncomfortable! Also, there are no centre aisles which can require you to walk by 30 seats/people in order for you to be seated. The numerous stairs to each row certainly doesnt help the physically challenge and/or children/older adults.

I recommend taking the Bart if you are going to watch a show at this theater. The civic center stop is just a few steps away. We have seen two musicals at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. The restrooms get crowded fast, but just go to the ones downstairs if you are in a hurry. I have sat closer to the front and also towards the back. Both seats were great, but obviously saw more details closer up. We already had our tickets when we arrived at the door both times, so we just walked in and the usher inside the theater help us to find our seats. The stage and props were amazing for both Mama Mia and BOM.

A wonderful venue for musical theater and other preforming arts. There are long rows with no aisles. To exit during a performance or while audience members are still seated requires deft maneuvering and the requisite excuse me... The womens restroom generates a long line, especially during intermission. The line moves quickly... thankfully. Named after the [1970s] brother/sister pop duo, The Carpenters. The venue features gold records, Grammys & music equipment belonging to them. Coffee, snacks and other items are available during intermission. Easy parking... Quick exit.

Mary Poppins was one of the very best performances Ive seen. The sets were great, the choreography fantastic! Im a season ticket holder and look forward to all my visits to the Carpenter Theater.

Great performances by the Musical Theatre West group. We have great seats. The ladies room line moves pretty fast. And there is lots of parking!

Really great venue, $7 for parking kind of sucks but they are capable of some really great shows here.
