Be VERY careful when you check movie times for this theater. Maybe this is a problem with AMC in general. I got to the theater and the movie time I wanted had been changed. I had checked the night before for the movie times for the new Ninja Turtles movie. I didnt go to Fandango or any other 3rd party site. I went directly to AMCs site. I made sure to check for the new Friday night movie times and didnt make the mistake of assuming Thursdays time would be the same. Their site gave the wrong times. As a result, I showed up to the theater "on time" with my 3 year old who was super excited to see the movie. When I got to the front counter to purchase the tickets, the guy informed me that the next show wasnt until 2.5 hours later! This ruined the day. The later movie time did not work for us and I had to leave with a very disappointed 3 year old.

Since AMC Metreon 16 is the only theater in San Francisco that has true IMAX, you can imagine how crowded it can get. The location is perfect so if you have some time to kill while in Downtown San Francisco, you can just walk down here and find something to watch. Lately they have started reserved seating for movies getting screened at IMAX so that people do not have to wait 2-3 hours and rush to get good seating. Their IMAX screen is huge, sound system is amazing and you can really enjoy the movie. They do NOT have a dome so dont expect to see documentary movies at this IMAX. Dont bother finding street parking around here. You can park on the Mission street garage just across the street and avoid the stress of finding a parking spot. There is also a pretty decent food court downstairs and also Target if you need something on your way back.

Where I come from the cinema/movie theatre is a place of meeting your friends getting excited to watch your movie. Maybe having a chat, deliberating on popcorn or not.....where are you meant to do this in this complex?? No seating while you are waiting for your movie. You are relegated to sitting on the stairs hoping you dont get balled over by the last movie that is finishing or the floor. The state of the toilets was not even healthy and to top it off we had a mouse running around our cinema. What a depressingly lackluster place. The reclining chairs were the only plus. I dont mind paying a little more to have the movie theatre an exciting place its meant to be. What a terrible impression of your facilities to see movies America.

I went here to see the new Star Trek movie very recently. Overall, this theater is pretty solid. Easy location in SoMA, convenient to public transportation, pinball machines and you can order your tickets online. I wish the armrests lifted up...and that the seats were as comfortable as those in the Westfield Mall, but overall — not a bad theater. Granted, get there early as the seats get pretty full early on, but even in our neck-breakingly-close seats we had a good experience. The only weird thing was that when I went to grab snacks the snack stand closest to the theater was all out of pretty much everything — candy, sodas, pretzels. Shouldnt they be able to just simply refill those items nearby? Just a thought!

AMC Metreon is a large movie complex near Market in San Francisco. It sports an IMAX screen with 3D capabilities as well as many other venues for showing movies. The staff is generally friendly and helpful when I have visited. Movie tickets can be bought both at the theatre or on the internet. Both options have worked fine for me. There is also popcorn and other snacks available for purchase. There is plenty of parking available nearby if you drive. Since it is right next door to the Yerba Buena Gardens there is ample opportunity to rest out doors if you arrive a bit early (naturally assuming good weather). There is also a few dining options available in Metreon (these are not part of the AMC complex though).

The staff was extremely polite and professional. The venue was cleaned intensely after every show. Caution as other patrons have nominated themselves as the most important people of the world. Leaving huge mess after the show. Contacted the manager for ticket reimbursement after a kid continued to kick my seat for an hour until he managed to kick me in the head. After alerting the parent 5+times, decided it was time to leave. There werent any empty seats to just move. While waiting to speak to a manager several people just steps in front of me demanding to be taken care of first. The staff remained calm and settled each incident professionally. Recommend attending off hours.

Today was my first time ever watching a movie in this AMC! My boyfriend and I watched London Has Fallen and thought the movie was an average action movie with predictable scenes. Back to the cinema itself, I would say that this is an average cinema. Its conveniently located near shopping malls and restaurants so thats a plus! Its also near MUNI / BART stations! Whats really awesome was that I found out that tickets were only $7 before 12pm on all movies excluding 3D and IMAX every day! I originally had discounted tickets from work and the employee told me that its better for me to purchase these. Definitely coming back here... Because I still have the discounted tickets LOL.

Stupid layout. You have to leave the theater to get concessions and wait in line to have them check your ticket to get back in. NEVER enough staffing. Went there for a movie marathon and they only had two people at the concession stand even though they knew that the entire IMAX theater would take breaks at the same time! Unfriendly staff and cant be bothered to help a customer. Parking in nearby parking lots. Inadequate security in the building. Our movie let out after midnight and the building had no security and as patrons walked out the street people walked in and started harassing us as we left. The only good thing is the the IMAX theater seating is reserved seats.

I like this movie theater and I would highly recommend you all to go to this one! In 2013....The only tiny issue is that there are way too many talkers & whisperers in the auditorium. It was annoying but I didnt want to make a scene as to tell those to be quiet. Meanwhile, there was this homeless guy that was causing a major disturbance before the movie even started playing as the lights were down there were teenagers that were moving ten rows down to get another seat to get away from him which I do not blame them for doing. Then I hear this other guy telling him, "CAN YOU BE QUIET?" Frankly that was all the experience Ive have had during the late evening hours.

This is it! Contacting a corporate this time! No matter how modern and reinovate your theaters are, the customer service level and the rude savage attitude and low professionalism of your employees will keep this theater in my least favorite AMCs...too bad every time I come here to re consider it gets worse and worse even a manager didnt say apologize acknowledge my complain and was indifferent about it and then followed me in the theatre to check of my ticket again!!! Im a stubs member and this is extremely embarrassing in public!! Im contacting AMC corporate about this for you need a new management team.
