I live less than 2 minutes walk from the location, and eat there constantly, as well as have the occasional beer from the tap. (I recommend the nutty brown) The atmosphere is hipster without the usual arrogance that accompanies it. No one really bothers you or is loud, its actually great during the daytime for a casual beer and watching something on your phone or laptop with the free WiFi offered. The staff is what makes this place. The super chill people that work here are the reason I keep returning, and they stay with the same staff members, as no one seems to be leaving or disgruntled. Keep it up¡!

Shine used to be my favorite coffee spot in Sacramento. I frequently met with friends and clients there. But when the ownership changed, so did the ambiance. Gone were the overstuffed sofas, quirky lamps, old fashioned chairs, and the wonderful funky, unique, combo Boho/Victorian parlor feel of the place. Now its just so-so, almost utilitarian - not a place I would want to meet with a friend/colleague/client and chat. The coffee is fine, but the atmosphere is lacking for me.

Love this place. They have a great atmosphere and provide a mixture of seating for people either socializing or working. The staff are wonderful and engaging. They even remembered me on my second and third visits. The prices for coffee and drinks are a little expensive, but pretty good quality. They serve Temple coffee I believe. They also have different events throughout the week which is pretty cool too. Definitely a great place to grab coffee and meet up with friends.

As part of my neighborhood bike rack improvement program, Corey Früh sat down with me last year and filled out the City of Sacramento application on the spot. Not only is this place cool. but its become the center of a very vibrant Mansion Flat hub. Good music, good food, and a place to hang with friends. And now there are racks all over this corner. So people can cruise on in and park their ride safely and securely. Thats what living in the city is all about.

"Well, Im here and Im hungry" I said to myself as I ordered the $10 Turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich. As I waited for my lunch, I was equality entertained by the crazy homeless guy outside and the patrons inside glued to their laptops or cell phones. Oh Boy - Here it comes! The most pathetic excuse for a sandwich I have ever seen. One layer on Turkey, scant bacon, and a barely noticeable smear of avacodo. I gave it 2 stars, because it supports local musicians.

The owner is incredibly rude and seems to hate her customers. The coffee is bad and the pastries are stale. Dont understand where all the hostility is coming from....uh, I want to spend money here???? thats a bad thing? I quit going. So glad google exists-YELP deletes any negative comment about this place for some reason....pays for advertising maybe???

I Love Shine. I only wish they hadnt switched from the best coffee ever (Terra Nova) to the ubiquitous and mediocre Temple coffee. They serve as a great little venue in the evenings, live music and poetry. They also serve kombucha on tap, beer and wine and light fare including breakfast and brunch items and vegan pastries. Also sometimes pop up dinners!

This place is exactly what my son needed. A cool place to hang out have coffee, eat & enjoy local music especially Jazz. At 17 having an all ages place w/ free music during the week & bands with a cover charge on the weekend is priceless. On Thurs night they even have a jazz jam session where you can get up on stage & play your instrument

Under new ownership! I love coming here. Temple coffee served, great selection of teas. I love their cold brew. I also enjoy the kombucha on tap. Great ambience! I also forgot to mention the myriad vegetarian and vegan options this place has :)

Its going to take me a while to get over the crunchy bug that was in my chai this morning. (It was about the size of a pincher, cant say for sure given the dismemberment after I spit it out - see photo.) Boyfriend likes the breakfast burritos.

First time visit, but already its obvious that this place is a HUGE find. Im sitting at the bar, drinking draft kombucha and watching The Joy of Painting, and I cant picture a better atmosphere to be working on a Saturday.

Im not a coffee drinker but have enjoyed a few breakfast sandwiches and burritos items from Shine from time to time. I do like the building and space shine has created. Others I know seem to like their coffee and teas.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Thursday around 2pm. They had great food, music, coffee and lattes. I would recommend the "Shine" to family, friends, locals and visitors to Sacramento, this is a nice place to eat.

What a cool place! Theres art and games and booze, and its bring your own food, so its a perfect spot to hang out with friends and be creative. I love that you can rent poloroid cameras! Definitely coming back soon.

The atmosphere is so comfortable that we absent mindedly spent several hours there talking over our Temple coffee and handmade panini. Were now regulars!

The 8.50 sandwich was not worth 8.50. They have a great atmosphere and a nice variety of beer on tap. I would like to see one of their Live nights
