Just got back from the fair and i can tell you now my husband and i our not so impressed. Its military appreciate day so decided to take my retired veteran of a husband for a first time experience at the fair we both got unlimited wrist bands which totaled to $60 not including $12 to get in for me and $10 parking fee and he was free. That didnt bother us as much as when we decided to go on all of the rides we realized that none of the operators that let you get on the rides DOESNT make sure that your safely secure before started the ride. For instance the rail that goes in front off you to make sure you dont fall out is NEVER checked i ask the operative person on several rides are you going to make sure im in.They all say the rail that goes over you will lock when the ride start in which it never did ON ANY of the rides my husband and i both had to hold down so neither of us would fall out safety on rides definitely a problem here. #Second no-one used height requirements for kids who were well under the height requirements WITHOUT an adult to ride with them. #Lastly something that really pissed me off are the workers that are at the carny games or stuff animal games is a TOTAL rip off. #First the workers are asking customers and i was one that they asked to throw a free dart at the balloons so their manager will think their working like really i didnt come here for this i came to have fun not save your butt and i dont even know you. #An employee decides to pop a huge i mean huge balloon which sounding like a gun and frightened all veterans and people that were in their and he laughed which can actually make veterans or army people think their back in war again with the loud noise. #In the ladies room Two young black teenage looking girls that were suppose to be working and were hiding in the bathrooms talking, texting on the phone and cursing.Professionalism is a must especially on a job.Did i forget to mention that they spent most of the day in the bathroom talking to each other and on the phone texting. # Lastly a older gentlemen working at the balloon popping carny games bamboozled my husband for $20 bucks he told my husband and i was standing right next to him to throw one free dart if my husband makes it he will give him 5 free tries and then youll get your prize my husband makes all of them.He told my husband "since i like you i will give you 5 more free tries on me". He makes all of them so why did my husband give you $20 if it was suppose to be free. After having this experience we will not be returning.

We have always come to the state every year but this year (2015) it wasnt as good as I thought it would be. Compounding that, I ran into an incident that kind of spoiled part of the day. We came on opening day, maybe thats where I went wrong... It was hot the day we went and I decided to purchase one of those soft drinks that "entitled" you to free refills during your stay at the park.. After paying the high price and asking for a refill a short time later, I was told they didnt honor that request and charged me $3.50 for the initial refill!? Whaaa...? Other vendors charged anywhere from $1.50-$2.50 for the refill. Arguing wasnt going to get me any satisfaction so I just went along & paid. What else was I suppose to do??? Gotta drink or spend more money "riding the cool ambulance to the ER for dehydration!" We all shared one cup and I guess I felt like we were a bunch of camels drinking from an "oasis!" When I returned home I wrote a complaint letter and received a response by phone about a week later. The lady said she was aware of the problem and has advised all vendors to honor the free refills. Eeee yaaa, a lot of good thats gonna do us... She said because we were there on opening day, there was some confusion ("almost $20.00 confusion throughout the day to have my cup refilled") and everyone wasnt on the same sheet of music to put it mildly. The lady was nice and said she would take care of us if we wanted to return but declined her offer. We still had fun and enjoyed our day while we were there. We tried a lot of new foods and picked a few lotto tickets during our stay. The monorail was a break from the heat and ironically we saw it during the nightly news when they had to pull people off because the train stopped over the midway! Not once, but twice.

Went to the fair on military appreciation day with my wife and first off we had to pay parking, unlimited ride wristbands, and let me tell you its not worth it. Yeah its nice to be allowed in free as a veteran but honestly this fair aint worth a penny. First off one of the employees decided to pop a big balloon in the building which to alot of us veterans will remind us of being in attacks and all the employee did was laugh. So then we decided to get on the rides which were very unsafe and all about the money not safety. Safety must have went out the window cause on rollercoasters and other rides cause none of the operators checked to make sure the latches were safely secured nor making so what happened we literally had to hang on for dear life and make sure we both didnt fall out while the rides were in motion. Well overpriced foods and drinks. As well as ripoff carny games that people hustle money and all of them want to try and chase you down. Beware of them as these ripoffs will scam you and basically give you a small McDonalds toy and make you pay them after the game and be their billboard so you can help scam others . Well I will tell you this advice one dont be scammed by the carny games two take your money somewhere where you will actually be treated like a human and not just another dollar sign. Also the pictures is way overpriced so if you and your loved ones want to do pictures do them anywhere but here cause you can get alot of pictures for alot better priced then one way over priced photo. Last but not least this fair is not worth any money being spent on and will never be unless you love being scammed out of your hard earned money. As a veteran im very disappointed with this fair and will never go back to this fair.

We cannot express how very disappointed we were with at the California State Fair Brewer’s Festival yesterday. It was the dark spot, on what was otherwise a great event. There were six of us that attended, two of us as designated drivers. We entered at 4:30 and asked at the gate if the four that purchased the twenty dollar wrist band that were advertised as “Taste 10 of California’s award-winning beers from the Commercial Craft Brew Competition in a 5-ounce souvenir mug that’s yours to keep” would have enough time to taste all ten. We were told that there would be plenty of time. We shelled out our $90 for what we thought would be a great time. It was anything but. It took them 20 minutes to get to the first taste and then they headed straight to the next line where they stood for another 20 minutes to be told that the vendor had run out of beer. Of the twenty or so vendors there, our group got to taste three beers while standing in the hot sun for an hour and a half before the police came in to usher everyone out. I went to the front gate to ask about getting a refund for the tastes that were not available to our party that had paid and was told, verbatim, “that is just how it goes; you’re just out of luck”. It ABSOLUTLEY was not the “amazing opportunity to sample some of California’s finest microbrews”. It was an embarrassment to the Brewers Guild and the California State Fair as a whole but even more to the personnel department.
