Esposa and I came here on our first of three days of wine tasting in Sonoma. I picked Hartford Family Winery solely based on Wine Spectators recommendations. Good choice! STAFF: 5 stars. We arrived a few minutes before out appointment and our hostess warmly greeted us, asking for a little time to finalize things. She sat us outside on the patio where workers were busily improving what is already a gorgeous facility. The hostess was very friendly and guided us without pomp or circumstance through a Library Zinfandel-only tasting. We sampled 5 Zinfandel reds and got a little extra Zinfandel Port at the end. She was low-key and shared some of her personal story with us, making us feel at home. FACILITY: 5 stars. Gorgeous. Lush greenery outside and nice architectural touches throughout. The view on arrival is fantastic! WINE: 5 stars. Excellent. Each Zinfandel was excellent in its own way. Some stood out more than others. All were luscious and fruity without being overly jammy. Tannins were just right. We purchased one rated 95 points by Robert Parker and joined their allocation list for future releases of the Hartford Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard Zinfandel. NOTE: If youre new to or "afraid of" big bold reds such as Zinfandel, this is a "safe" place to start. Hartford makes them approachable and enjoyable.

Meh. Ok wines but nothing I was willing to buy. Their employees need a lot of training! The girl hosting our tasting was scatterbrained and full of all kinds of misinformation. We ended up about a mile away in Forestville at Joseph Jewell winery which is certainly worth a visit for their amazing Pinot Noirs. All of these wines are rated 92 points and above and are winning all kinds of awards! Definitely recommend adding this destination!

Beautiful out of the way location. The wines were very good and looking forward to our delivery. The tasting experience could have been better. Unfortunately we arrived as they were presenting to a group of distributors so we had to settle for a corner of the tasting room. Our host was pleasant but not knowledgeable about the Hartford wines. Poor communication from the winery on our delayed shipment, but worth it for the wine.

This was my second visit to Hartford Family Winery and it will not be my last. I highly recommend the Library Wine Tasting. Cant say enough about the staff, quality of the wine and the overall experience. My sincere thanks!
