Solterra is by far one of my favorite neighborhood gems. Not only is the wine delicious (especially the red cask wines) but the staff always ensures a wonderful experience every time my friends and I come in. Arnold, the manager, is so sweet, and goes the extra mile to make sure birthday celebrations, family gatherings, and even a Friday night happy hour is an exceptional experience for his guests. We are wine club members and Solterra occasionally hosts very fun member parties with free food, and tastings of the new release wines. The food is also delicious- especially the lamb sausages and the patatas bravas. The ambience is lovely with local art hung all over and windows that open to the fresh air. They also have 2 outdoor patios and a huge warehouse with tables where they make the wine. Go for happy hour too which is all night Monday, and every other day from 4-6 with a ton of discounted tapas and $5 wines. You will not be disappointed!

Solterra Winery and Kitchen opened about 2 years ago on Coast Hwy in Encinitas. It is housed in a gorgeous building that serves as a barrel room and restaurant. The Winery is the run by wine maker / owner Christopher Van Alyea. What I ate... Olives ~ Citrus and herb marinade Seared Octopus ~ Octopus, orange mint smashed fingerling potatoes, and pickled jalapeno. Note ~ This is a knockout dish. I don’t know if it’s on the menu all the time but if it is eat it. The winery produces three labels of wine Christopher Cameron vineyards ~ Which uses grapes from Van Alyea Ranch in Dry Creek Valley Sonoma County, CA Costa Azul ~ Sourced from the northern and central coast of California. Solterra ~ Grapes from San Diego county, Temecula, and northern Baja, Mexico. I really like the Solterra 2011 Vognier from Escondido, CA. I find it a really interesting white.

Ben, our bartender/server, was On. He took care of the entire bar at lunch time and we never felt neglected. Our wines and delicious food was served right on time. He even helped out a mom with 2 toddlers and never missed a beat. Of all the wineries i have been to, his descriptions of the wines we were tasting was spot on. Even describing the flavors as they hit my tongue...talk about synchronicity. The food was sublime. Id suggest the scrumptious lamb burger (never had lamb before and it beats down beef). If i ever come thru here again, this is a must stop.

Fantastic tapas and wine bar. Great service, stylish but laid back atmosphere, and right on the coast highway. We had some nice easy electric guitar ambiance live music during our recent dinner. The food is thoughtful, delicious, and well prepared. Especially delicious were the beet and stone fruit salads, the charcuterie mixed plate was awesome. The grilled octopus was fantastic. The risotto and scallop dish was stellar. We will definitely be going back to this place to taste more and relive some new favorites!

Amazing!!!!! Absolutely love the ambiance, servers and food/wine. We drove by and the setup caught our eye. This place beat our expectations. We had the cheese board, cauliflower, charred steak and the grilled octopus. Worth the drive for the charred steak and wine!!! They let us bring our pup in and sit outside. Come before 5 for 6 tastings for $10 bucks. Definitely get Ian as your server, hes great and full of knowledge on wine and food!

Some friends and I stopped by here recently on a wine tasting tour and had an excellent time. The facility is nicely split between the active winery on the left and the restaurant/bar on the right with some fireside seating out front along PCH. We were impressed by their huge selection of wines, great variety for a younger winery. Definitely recommend you check it out!

My wife and I had dinner and drinks recently. There was a fairly decent wine selection. The tapas were pretty good and certainly hit the spot. It was pretty packed when we were there and yet we were well cared for. Im happy such a hip restaurant is finding its way in north county.

Big fan. Its definitely a bit on the hipster end but they have a friendly staff who are helpful and quite knowledgeable about their wines (and food). And its also a very cool setting. Great place for a night out or a light tapas lunch. Highly recommend.

Excellent little spot to stop while cruising the Pacific highway. Excellent wine selection thanks to the wine maker sourcing quality grapes from far and wide. The food was excellent and the location is super convenient. We will be back.
