AMC Bay Street 16 is a part of the AMC chain and is located in Emeryville, California. It offers a variety of movie options including IMAX screenings. However, based on customer feedback, there are several areas that could be improved for a better movie-going experience.

This past Saturday (09/09/2017) we went to see the 7:15 PM showing of IT. I have to say that this was without any doubt the worst movie theater experience of my life. I know that people tend to be a little louder during horror movies, so I was already expecting the occasional screams and a little bit of chatter after a scare in the movie. But during this movie people were talking literally throughout the entire movie, and Im not talking about little whispers here and there; people were having full blown conversations; LOUD conversations! The audience was so loud that I was often straining to even hear the movie. In addition to people talking and being loud, they were also constantly getting up and walking around, and kids were sneaking into the movie (normally I wouldnt care, but there were so many to the point that it was disruptive). We were pretty upset because we were really looking forward to watching IT, but the experience was completely ruined. We were in utter disbelieve that the theater management did absolutely nothing to handle this situation. We wont be returning to this theater. Ever!

I live halfway between here and Century Bayfair in San Leandro. I MUCH prefer Bayfair. - Parking is a nightmare, getting in and especially getting out. - And they charge to park. Fail. - Neither the employees nor management seem to give a damn about the place. - The food is crappy AND overpriced, even by movie theatre standards. - And the prices keep going up. + Restrooms are clean + Theatre is usually clean Too often somebody in the crowd is loud, or talking, or crying. Too often Ive noticed parents bringing their young (less than 10 yr old) children (sometimes less than 5) to violent and/or sexually explicit R-rated movies. Thats not the theatres fault, but the deterioration of manners and common courtesy has reached a tipping point such that I dont want to go to the movies anymore unless the movie is at the top of my must-see list. We used to be FREQUENT movie-goers, but the theatre experience has deteriorated. I dont feel like a valued customer, just a vessel from which to extract money. And AMC does nothing to enhance the experience. Increasingly Im watching movies and TV series online.

IMAX and AMC got together to deceive the public and take big bucks from the public by advertising films like Star Trek to be in IMAX. After you have paid for parking, and youve paid the big IMAX bucks, youve waited in line and finally get to enter the theatre, your jaw will drop when you see the tiny screen. You will know you have been ripped off, but you wont want to ruin the evening for your friends or your date. So you sit through it and try to forget that you just got scammed so you can enjoy the movie. But inside you know that you will warn all your friends never to trust the IMAX brand again. This kind of bait and switch is likely to be a sign that IMAX corp. is going under. Their stockholders should cash in now before they completely disintegrate. As for AMC Bay Street 16 -- ehhh -- shame on them for their part in the duplicity.

Bay st Movie theater has a good setup but the wrong people working including management. The popcorn and food sucks and who ever does the line ups of the movies showing must be a illegal alien they whole thing is terrible. Theres new films out right now but they choose to bring back old movies everyone has already seen and fill a slot. Another example is having 2 slots for the same movie but one is 3D its terrible. They also have a customer issue of telling you to go 2miles across the area to another theatre which is very rude and obnoxious. One more thing when your paying for parking be careful they may make you pay twice once by the machine then by the toll when exiting those bastards are no good also the rule which says you dont have to pay under 1hr is false and thats false advertising. BAY ST MOVIE THEATER SUCKS !!!!!

This was my second visit, and I decided to go during a prime time to see if things were any better. After forking over about $40 for IMAX 3D tickets for my wife and I, we find that once again the seats are filthy, and it appears no one bothered to clean up the theater. Also, the IMAX screen here isnt your standard IMAX screen, its barely bigger than a general movie screen. I went for snacks, and waited in line for 42 minutes. There were 50 people or so in line, and two employees take care of orders. There were a few others behind, slowly moving around appearing to be busy. The location is great for this place, but I wont be going back. Id rather give my money to a place that has employees who care and keep things tidy.

I went to see Arrival, a movie that I had been craving to see for months. To my shock, the staff at the entrance couldnt find information of my digital ticket. So I asked if I might check whether I had a seat; if not, I didnt mind sitting in the hallway. But the staff denied my entrance. For the first time in my life, I filed a complaint, and a lady on the line soon found my purchase history. I asked her to speak with the staff, who then reluctantly let me in. I enjoyed the movie as expected, felt grateful for the ladys help, but was somewhat hurt by the indifference of the staff. Ive never rated anything 1 star, but decided not to swallow my anger today.

I recently went to go see the screening of deadpool and I dont know were to get started. The food was expensive and cold and they only gave 3 chicking strips. And the movie was unwatchable due to the fact the a person in the back was making figure with the projecter the hole move. And lastly I left my wallet so when I got home I called to see if they found it. After call 38 times they finally picked up when I asked if the found it they said no "without asking anyone" I asked if he could take a second look. Once I said that he hung up. I called even more times only for the guy not to answer. Never going their again

In my opinion parking is a hassle here - crowded and really tight spaces. I usually try to find parking outside of Bay Streets parking structure. If you DO park in the structure, make sure you get your ticket stamped inside the AMC at the Validation station. Itll give you 3 hrs free. Other than that this theatre is pretty cool. It sits above Bay Street so it looks pretty cool, and inside is relatively clean and well-kept. I could complain about the prices being expensive, but I feel like thats the story with all theatres nowadays, so no point. Never saw an IMAX movie here before, but apparently its no es bueno.

The movies they play are good and there isnt any problems ever. The staff are pretty normal(AKA ALL OF THEM DONT GIVE ABOUT ANYTHING, THEY DONT DO CRAP AND THEY DONT GIVE A CRAP). The popcorn situation is awful. Its like they never clean out the older popcorn. Ive thrown up about 3 times from eating that popcorn and have had to go to the hospital for food poisoning. I recommend you, yourself bring your own popcorn. Other than that, all the snacks are fine and they have good selection of beverages as well. But EVERYTHING IS OVER PRICED BY LIKE 20$!!!!!
