Let me begin by saying that this is a beautiful course....well the front nine is anyways. I purchased my round two days prior with golf now and had a 1 hour drive to the location. I was initially allowed to go out alone and then paired with three Asian people I had never met and that did not speak a bit of English (If you have ever golfed you would know its not exactly fun to golf with zero interaction) I returned after a 17 minute first hole because of the group I was placed with had such slow play. This brings me to my next point, there was no marshal and it was made known to me before the round that there was no marshal yet they insist on pushing foursome after foursome out onto the course wit ha rule of only two carts per hole at a time. I was placed behind another threesome of Asian players that made it blatantly obvious that they did not want me in their group and did not want me in front of them. The starter let them go out in front of me and according to my stopwatch they took an average of 15 mins per hole. The group took shot after re shot after re shot. I am all for learning the game but not at the expense of a 3 hour front nine which is what I experienced I gave up after the front and went home. the greens were well kept the fairways are very narrow and houses line the fairways. unless you are a great technical golfer and extremely accurate have fun losing balls for the slightest mistake and worrying about hitting peoples houses. (I am a 15 handicap) The course could be a great difficult but fun experience if there was a marshal and the course was not trying to get as many people out on the course to make up for them discounting the rates for the day. Bristow Manor is just down the road and they are likely to get my business from now on.

I went with the 3 star rating because they were rude. The course is beautiful and they’ve really tried to clean it up a bit and make it more scenic by chopping down some shrubbery and trees. So the course itself is a +4 star play, however the starter was a __ and the front desk kids were busy checking Facebook or Snapchat to make eye contact and provide a sliver of customer service. I have never felt so terrible as I did after the starter treated me like a second rate citizen because I told him i knew where the 1st hole was unknowing that they changed it so you start on 10... Only way Ill go back is if I have a free round card or theyre running a special because for the price i could go to to one of the other courses in the area and be treated like a human.

The experience today was one of the worst I have experienced at any golf course. Malcom at the pro shop was very rude and condescending from the start. The first hole showed me why Malcolm was so snappy when asked about the course conditions. Throughout the round I saw more grass growing in the bunkers then on the greens. Course conditions were abysmal through all 18 holes and the only thing well manicured were the lawns surrounding the course. To top off all of this our cart battery died and it took them 45 minutes to get another cart out to us with no apology whatsoever! Do not waste your time playing this course as course conditions are horrible and the customer service is just as bad!!!

New management has made a big difference. The staff was friendly, course was in very good condition with various improvements underway, and the layout is challenging - if not tricky. Reasonable rates are not hard to find if you branch out beyond weekend mornings, and the food served in the 19th hole is well above average. The course does require some local knowledge as there there many blind tee shots and small greens. As a result, it often plays slow, but if you are with friends, enjoy the views of Lake Manassas and enjoy your round.

Very poor service. Played a round in the morning and had booked a second round for later that same day but they made a big fuss about letting us play the entire 18. Told us that replays at this golf course are 9 hole play only. To add insult to injury, this course doesnt have replay fees! Ive played far better courses in MD, Musket Ridge, Little Bennett, Whiskey Creek, Lake Presidential come to mind, that offer replay fees. Unlikely to make the 1 hour drive to play this course again.

I was very pleasantly surprised. The other reviews here are truly out of date. I played mid May 2014, and maybe it is just Spring time, but the course was really nice, and everyone I talked to from the pro shop, to the starter, to the bar tender, was very welcoming. The course is pretty straight forward, but not easy. Some of the greens are maddeningly small, but that is more a knock on my skills than the course itself. The price was very reasonable for what you get.

A new okras bar in Gainesville. A beautiful setting around the golf course. Light and open planned bar and restaurant with the feel and friendliness of manassas the flagship. When was the last time you could sit in front of a fire on comfy leather sofas watching sports on TV.? Service and food are what you would expect from such a quality driven team. where they make you feel like the king or queen of Mardi gras

Played at Virginia Oaks yesterday. A couple of the holes were very challenging...hole 9 is a beautiful water logged par 3 but not so easy to hit with wind blowing from right to left...another one I liked is hole # 10, a very long 621 yards par 5...very tough. The greens were in terrible shape but looked like work is being done to restore them...might be a good idea to play when the course is completely ready.

Was advertised as $45 when we booked, were charged $60... Plus 5 for a tiny basket of old dirty range balls, the range itself was rather dismal.... Course was poorly maintained, and the back 9 took about 3.5 hours to play because of a massive holdup... The marshalls if they have them must have been passed out drumk or something. I will never play at VA oaks again.

Probably the worst kept golf course I have seen. About 6 greens were in ok shape, but the rest of it was really bad. That being said, the layout was entertaining. The course had some cool looking holes, and the price was cheap. I dont plan on going back until I hear it is in MUCH better shape

Had a coupon very end of last year because the course was in such terrible shape. Coupon expired on 3/31...came today and tried to use it and made the argument that it was only good for winter months...they didnt seem to care...this place has terrible customer service...

The tee boxes are in good shape, the fairways are too thick (its like first cut of rough for every fairway!), greens were tore up here and there. Its better than Reston in terms of layout but the up keep is not the best.
