I was pretty unimpressed with the tour, house, and grounds. I feel there are better places to go for a more concise and informational tour in the Nashville area. The museum that visitors view before the tour has a LOT of facts to take in and I was not sure what I was supposed to get out of it. Travelers Rests website advertises Mississippian Indian mounds but they are no where to be found (apparently the house is built on top of one?). The house was used as a railroad office so its not as authentic or ornate as some of the other Nashville historic homes. The tour was okay but we spent a lot of time in some rooms and glanced over others. Overall, there are just better places to go for the same amount of money.

I attended an event at Travellers Rest in October and was amazed with the beauty of the historic plantation and the friendly and knowledgeable staff members who work there. I loved how Travellers Rest worked with the caterers of the event to create a unique (and delicious) menu. For example, the entree utilized bourbon sourced from the plantation grounds - very creative! Travellers Rest was the perfect setting for an intimate night of history, great food and terrific company. I would definitely plan and/or attend an event here again and highly recommend it to others!

I am a teacher and went with my middle schoolers to tour Travelers Rest. They offer different types of tours that focus on varied subject matters. We chose the tour that focused on slavery. Our tour guide Tonya was very sweet, incredibly knowledable, and oftered a perspective of slavery that helped my students to understand that all human beings (regardless of skin color or whether they are male or female) deserve basic human rights. I HIGHLY recommend the tour on slavery.

The wedding venue is great for price and extremely beautiful. The staff is absolutely terrible to work with and not friendly at all. There are sooooo many rules that you have to follow the day of the wedding that unless you have a planner, it is almost impossible to have a stress-free day. They are very demanding on getting everything they need (paperwork - payment etxc.) but we are still waiting on our deposit check that was mailed out over a week ago.

Both the house and grounds were fantastic. You start in the museum with a video and artifacts which gives you an idea how the plantation came to be and what happened to it during the war. The house if full of furnishings of the time. The slave cabins go into how the slaves lived and worked on the plantation.

Our tour was informative and enjoyable. Our tour guide Kelly did a great job explaining rooms and lifestyle from eras gone by, without going long on explanations. The tour from start to finish took about 1.5 hours.

We had a great time on the tour today. Great place for a history lesson on the Battle of Nashville. When you go ask for Kelly, she is a great tour guide.
