I was traveling from Pennsylvania to North Carolina with 3 adults and 5 children (infant, 2, 3, 6, & 9). We needed a place to stop about halfway so we could picnic and stretch. We happened upon this gem and we are so glad we did! The scenery is beautiful and the staff is welcoming and friendly. We had fun looking around at all of the stuff in the gift shop and the kids enjoyed seeing the wall of honey bees and interacting with the mechanical tree and squirrels. Outside, we were treated to a "train ride" all around the grounds and we even got to see some goats! We were unable to make it to the caverns because of time, but we will be going back and I would highly recommend this stop to anyone looking for something fun to do with the family in Virginia! Thank you to all of the wonderful people there and for being the first highlight of many on a fun, family vacation!!!!

This is one of those places that you hear about and arent quite sure why they exist. Its quite weird. Admission is free. The place has a lot of older farm equipment to look at along with plenty of odds and ends. Theres a stage so apparently they have live music at times. Google lists it as a wedding venue, but I cant imagine anyone getting married here. We stopped here since its part of a trio of buildings tied to the Shenandoah caverns, but there wad nothing at the yellow barn of interest to myself or my kids.

Anything thats educational and well maintained such as this is getting 5 stars from me. We stopped here after the cave tour to check it out. They have a live beehive inside that the kids spent most of their time at watching the bees work away. The collection is of random well preserved antiques. I honestly enjoyed all of it and would highly recommend stopping in if youre in the area.

Great time passer. Kids (9-19 years old) enjoyed looking around. Nick nacks everywhere, wine testing for adults, and toys to look through for the kids. Although we didnt purchase anything, staff asked where we were headed next and then even suggested local restaurants when they learned we were going to eat.

I wouldnt have stopped at the Yellow Barn if I hadnt heard they had goats, rabbits, and chickens (sounds like a petting zoo, right? Its not). It was free, so thats nice, and Im sure its better in warmer months, but I wont go back, even if we do the caverns again. Its an overgrown gift shop, thats about it.

Went here a couple of years ago and had a ton of fun. Now that my son is old enough I would love to take another trip out here to both the caverns and The Yellow Barn. To me it is much more enjoyable than the more famous Luray as that has become so commercialized.

Admission to the Yellow Barn is included with admission to Shenandoah Caverns. It is worth looking at since its free and there is a pretty nice gift shop area there! The barn just has a bunch of different things to look at and it doesnt take long to go through.

Neat stop on your way to or when leaving the caverns from across the street. Interesting artifacts from a bygone era. Very friendly staff! The little ones will love to put a quarter in and watch the multiple trains circle overhead. Really neat place to visit!

We had our wedding at this location and it was perfect. Emma was extremely helpful and flexible in helping us out. We couldnt have asked for anything else. The location is wonderful and an experience itself.

Strange gathering of items to display but it has a nice countryside touch. It is free.
