Terrible security! Do NOT go here! We went to see a concert on our honeymoon. We paid for premium tickets in the seating section. We spent the first half of the show trying to hear over the people behind us. They then started bumping and hitting us in the back. We asked them to stop, and by this point several other groups were turning around to glare at this group. Security was nowhere to be found at all. We put up with a bit more, but when the drunken screaming started to include spitting, we had to leave. Others next to us that also paid more for seats had left before us. We hoped our first night out as a married couple would be, at the very least, pleasant. Unfortunately we went to the Jefferson and suffered nothing but disappointment. On the way out, we saw four "security" guys hanging out by the door. I wish they actually had been watching what I paid them to watch. I will never again go there and would suggest you do not either. Youll just waste your money.

I went to the Jefferson for the first time on Memorial Day to see the Of Montreal show. I was the designated driver, so I was not drinking. I approached the bar and asked for a simple glass of water to quench my thirst. The bartender then informed me that it was impossible to give me a cup of water. She then offered to sell me an incredibly overpriced bottle of water, which I refused to buy on principle. She even had the gall to say that ABC regulation prevents the bar from serving water. As a former bartender, I am pretty sure that the ABC actually mandates that they serve water free of charge to anyone that asks for it. I went downstairs and received the same treatment. The show itself was great, but it was hard to enjoy it in my parched state. I recommend that any human that enjoys drinking water avoid this tortuous venue if at all possible.

The check in staff is very rude. Im 25 and the person looking at IDs asked me if I had any other id, as if my drivers license wasnt enough. I told him I would not be drinking anyways and he proceeded to harass me over it and ask for another ID. Then, when I went to ask about additional restrooms because the line was long at the upstairs one, the person stamping hands wouldnt answer my question and just pointed me back to the same restroom. Despite there being a sign for additional restrooms downstairs.

Our visit started off with the door guy rudely pushing my husbands hand off the door when we didnt know where to go after purchasing our tickets. He later apologized. Still, that was really something given that were not people who go looking for trouble and we were there as a special night to get away and have some fun. From there, the event was not what we expected and seemed disorganized. We left early.

One of the most surprisingly affordable venues on the East Coast in consideration of the volume of quality talent they host. Staff and security has been most pleasurable to interact with and needs of the crowd have been handled seamlessly. Policies on checked coats have changed recently as have what temperament of guest theyre willing to tolerate. Theyre sturdy.

Worst venue ever. Had to arrive a hour early to fight for seat in balcony so that we could suffocate. No A/C, no air movement. Was told by staff, "Oh, its always like that!!". Ever heard of air handling? Ever care? Ticket price outrageous for this treatment. Wouldnt return even if the Beetles got back together.

Going back to its original intention as a performance Theater, The Jefferson is now a vibrant state of the art Rock Club. Boasting an incredible sound system & an amazing experience for patrons. The Calendar already full of great events... The best time folks have ever had at a show in Charlottesville!

Small venue in CVA but the location is awesome. Most bars were closed by 11 pm though. I wasnt a huge fan of how the venue was set up though. You walk through the bathroom/bar to get to the stage. The bar overlooks. The stage feels a little like a boat deck.

This is one of my favourite venues for live music. They also host dance parties every so often which are always fun. If the bar upstairs is crowded, the one downstairs usually has less of a wait.

Hey, they got the decibel level RIGHT this time for Love Canon on Friday! I like NOT having to use my earplugs, and on NYE I needed them bigtime, and forgot them.....shortening the evening for me.

Disappointing experience. The seats are cramped (and Im only 52") and the sound is distorted. I had travelled from Dayton, Ohio to see a favorite band (The Mavericks), but left after 5 songs.

Great bands come through here! The angled floor in front of the stage is a great idea. Plenty of room in the balconies too. And the tap selection in the bar is surprisingly impressive.

Overpriced drinks and a lazy staff. A very very lazy staff... Especially their "security" team. There are much better venues in the area. We wont be returning to this one.

Great venue. Lots of options for viewing and its easy to get drinks without missing the show. They could use an ATM as the particular merch guy was not accepting credit.

Went for the first time last week to see Wale in concert. Alcohol available and plenty of security. The space was large, yet had a comfortable feel.

Small spot for concerts but then again it makes the sound awesome and the view great even from the back. Also drinks are affordable.
