The venue itself is small and intimate. The acoustics are decent, and the bar fair. The problem with the place is the crowd. People were talking throughout the entire concert. I asked some people to stop talking, and they said, "No, were going to keep doing this the whole night". Pretty immature, IMO - and sadly, I think theyre likely to be a regular problem. I probably wont go back unless theres some band I really want to see. If talkers dont bother you then by all means go, but I cant really recommend the place if you want to listen to music. I think thats a shame too because hate not being able to support local businesses.

My expirience was possibly the worst ive had in charlottesville. I came in with my friends around 9 oclock and everything was great until the manager came over and demanded I show him I.d after the bartender younger lady had already I.d me. I told him that I HAD ALREADY been I,D he told me i could either show him some I,D or get out. I told him i would do it but that it was extremely rude. Later I talked to the comedian Mark norman who told me he had been treated disrespectfully by the same manager. I forget the managers name but he is shorter probably mid 40s graying and very bad attitude,

Went there for the first time for a concert. It had a really cool atmosphere, and the concert area seemed to be designed for concerts by people who thought about the space and how to make it so everyone could have a positive concert experience no matter where you were standing/seated. I loved the benches along the columns and the walls - they allowed a short person like me to see above the crowd as well as offer extra seating without cumbersome chairs. Not a super-great draft selection, but sufficient for the evening.

Caught Peter Bradley Adams show here. Have seen his show at other venues throughout Va. Something bout the acoustics in small cavern area..made it one of the most personal entertaining evenings in maybe forever. Everyone was polite, meet & greet for drinks after show, i think we closed the place. But were never told we had to go. Not sure what happen to others ratings here? Maybe the attitude you recieve is same as one you give? treat people like humans theyll for most part treat you same.

This is one of the places that makes Charlottesville great. Literally an underground club where you can see up and coming artists in an intimate venue without spending a lot of money. I have probably seen at least 20 bands here and have not once had a problem with venue. Support live music. Take a chance on something new. Kill your TV.

The sound engineering is awesome. I played there a few years back when it was managed by someone else. Now the place is developing an identity...as a small music hall. Seriously great place to catch intimate music and have some fun.

Doors opened at 7. No one was allowed out of the cafe and into the stage room for nearly two hours. Brand new (2009). Very small and enclosed venue. Sound was cluttered. Great location in Cville mall.

I quit attending shows there on my own nearly 6 years ago, due to the rudeness of the manager who got mean about me using the venue phone, (I didnt have a cell phone then). I wouldnt recommend it.

Ive been here a couple of times and while its not bad, objectively, Im not a fan, really. I dislike $7 cans of beer, its weirdly claustrophobic, and the room has big blind spots.

Ive sen a lot of great shows here. The place is small, and there are posts that can block sight lines, but that has never stopped me from enjoying the shows.

Cool interior, funky location (kind of underground). Venue very bare bones, no-fuss, big wide area. Good for more intimate performances feel.

Funky down home venue featuring awesome performances in the most intimate setting outside your living room.

Extremely rude manager like everyone keeps saying. He doesnt deserve to be able to treat people like that
