I have been in Richmond for 5 years now and my two favorite productions that I have attended were both at the Firehouse Theatre. The first was the Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity and their newest production The Boatwright. I like that the producers never shy away from a piece that will challenge or perhaps alienate their audience. This historic theatre brings fresh stories, sounds and sights to its patrons every single time.

Easy access on West Broad & largely easy parking for productions. Allow an extra 8 minutes in travel time for comfortable free parking. The building is a good choice local theater, provides local ales for purchase at intermission & allows for creative dramatic arts. $20 tickets support the artistic team & building. Try it once with a favorite show & youll know by experience.

Ive been to several performances at Firehouse (American Idiot, Maple & Vine) and plan to go to The Boatwright. Great cozy environment with small bar and the historic building adds a tone of charm. The productions are very well done and the Theatre offers a lot of variety. Cant beat the quality work you can see for the price.

Potential for great theatre, run by a joke. Seating is a mess and when a man throws at customers "I run this place" to impose authority on patrons that are genuinely confused on the seating. (For my part, was told to sit in seats marked reserved, werent reserved for me...). Too bad, owners can ruin venues...

In addition to a few main stage productions each year, the Firehouse offers "hyperactive programming" with something for everybody. Cabarets, comedy, poetry, magic, all kinds of music - check the website for whats new. The theatre is intimate and all the seats are good.

Interesting mix of traditional plays and musicals with the "Fringe" series - burlesque, magic, radio plays. Something for everyone. The director is really trying to make a rounded experience for all.

I like that this space retains a classic visage but is actually comfortable when attending events.
