I feel very weird about this place. I want to love it, because the atmosphere is great, whether for a show or for a meal, but I really cant say much good about their food. UPDATE: Ive been multiple times recently and the food is consistently average or below and REALLY overpriced. The menu doesnt quite explain the dishes, so you get weird surprises sometimes, and on more than one occasion, details have been different than what was stated in the menu. Ordered a dessert that was stated to have raspberries, but it came with blackberries instead. NO mention of this change. I dont really like blackberries and the small, incorrect dessert cost $6. But the serious glaring problem here is the SERVICE. Last time, it took 5 minutes for the guy at the host stand to get us and two other couples seated. There were empty tables. They werent that busy. It made no sense. Waitress really was not up to par either. One of the few places Ive ever tipped less than 15% based on how bad the service was. Its kind of shocking how many problems such an expensive and nice restaurant can have. I would not recommend Clementine.

Really disappointed last night. Weve been to Clementines a lot. The only consistently decent thing on the menu is the burger. BUT...they have new menus (aka - prices went up). They took our favorite burger and jacked the price up $2 (was $8.95 bacon avocado cheeseburger...now its $9.95 bacon cheddar...plus $1 for avocado). So instead I ordered the salmon dinner entrée. It was $16.95 and about the size of an appetizer. I was starving when we arrived...so I left still very hungry. I mean, really...it was the size of the salmon they put on the salads and charge $4.95 for. This isnt an upscale restaurant that can get away with a small sized meal...they dont even have the free bread, etc to go along with it. Well definitely be going MUCH less often. In addition, there was a large group there from Johns Hopkins. Thats great and all, but they were extremely loud. And it was disruptive to everyone else when they clapped/applauded every 3 minutes. Of course, Im sure Clementines doesnt care since thats where they made their money last night. They shouldve been in the basement.

Every time I go to Clementine to hear music, I remember why I don't like going to Clementine to hear music. It has the potential to be a great place, but it isn't. They could do small things to make the atmosphere better. It is waaay too bright in there. They never turn down the lights during shows. It's weird and distracting. Also, the seating and standing areas are awkward. If you don't get there super early to get a table, you are standing, which would be fine, except that there really isn't anywhere to stand where you won't have to continually move out of the way of servers and people trying to get through. At a recent show, rows of chairs were set up in front of the stage. So that area, where most venues would have as a space for people to stand, had the awkward feel of a school play. It is also really hot in there when its crowded. I tried a few times, but probably won't go back anytime soon. Unfortunately, it seems you still have to go to Charlottesvillle to see music at a decent venue.

I was harassed by the owner. I went to a concert with a friend a few days ago and the bar was full to capacity. We had been sitting at the bar for about an hour when I got up to go to the bathroom. On my way back I was grabbed by the hood on my jacked and yanked backwards. I was pulled face to face with a man who told me that I needed to leave. He claimed that he saw me sneak through the backdoor. I explained to him that this wasnt true - I pointed to the seat at the bar where I had my tab open. He called me a liar and proceeded to argue with me. I started to walk away and again he grabbed me by my clothing, shouting "what part of that wasnt clear?" I had to find a waitress that could vouch for me. After my case was made, he stormed off and offered no apology. I went back earlier today to make a complaint and found out this man was the owner. The first rule of customer service is that the customer always comes first. This apparently is not the case at Clementines. Im waiting on that apology, bud.

I ordered the new York strip steak with bliss potatoes, chimichurri garnish. ($20) The steak was prepared well and the potatoes were seasoned well. The meal was supposed to come with Tabasco onion rings. These were forgotten until the end of the meal. I asked for them and the waitress gave me a two dollar discount. I realize they were a little busy, but the abrupt discount and the wobbly table wore on the experience. (either moving the table entirely onto the carpet or adjusting the table legs should fix the problem.) The meal was fine, but the overall experience lacked passion and came off rather cold. It was like a cafeteria with high-end food. This is where places like Jack Browns have the upper hand. (easy food, good times.) I will try them again. I once had a goat cheese quesadilla there, and it was magnificent. I hope that my next trip shows the both of us at the top of our game. Salud.

My family and I highly recommend Clementine! We have enjoyed eating there a couple of times now - the atmosphere is great, food delicious, fresh and wonderfully unique menu options. We were extremely impressed this past weekend when we visited for dinner. Somehow our appetizer never made it out prior to our meal - we had both our waiter and I assume the manager/owner of the restaurant both apologize to us and we did receive our app during our meal. We were grateful for the acknowledgement and apologies but did not expect what came next - our meal was fully taken care of for us! We were very surprised and thought they went above and beyond!! We will certainly continue to frequent Clementine when we are in the area visiting our son and we encourage others to check out this great restaurant - truly, the food is delicious and service exceptional! Thank you Clementine!! -Kris and JP

Ive been to this restaurant for lunch, dinner, drinks, live music and private parties so I have seen almost all aspects of this place. Some meals I have gotten here have been outstanding while others are not very good. For instance, the Reuben sandwich on the lunch menu is amazing but the veggie burger on the dinner menu falls apart and is too dry. When is comes to drinks theyve got a excellent selection at reasonable prices. The live music cant be beat. They are always having talented musicians come in and the sound system they have in there is killer. Ive been to one private party and all the food was excellent. The party was located downstairs which offered a very relaxed, classy and conversational setting. Thus, I would recommend this place to anybody who is in town for a visit, college or 30 years of being a resident of this fine place we call Harrisonburg.
