Its been a while since Ive been here. The last time I was here the food was good, not great. Since we have so many great resturants, and I mean really great, in Charlottesville, Rapture isnt very high on the list. What they do have is great outdoor seating, wonderful for people watching, decent drinks, and fairly good food. Ive heard that brunch is very good here, but I havent been. This is the place to go if you want nightlife. Although their dance floor is tiny, its always packed. Music is good, and there are pool tables. If you dont get there early you wont be playing pool however. I dont like that they make you pay so much for the cover charge, imo. You can go to the bar, play pool, and order wings (I recommend them!) without paying the cover charge. But if you want to dance, they charge you. I think thats unfair... Its not like youre in NYC and theres a great dance floor, theres not. So Ive never seen the point of paying to literally use the tiny dance floor. You can just dance in the regular part of the bar.

Rapture appreciates the diversity of Charlottesville and welcomes all who also appreciate it. Thier general manager is the best on the mall, bar none. This is our "Cheers". Bartenders, wait staff, and kitchen staff are all on point and good people. Typical downtown pricing with better than average food options and a very friendly staff. We have enjoyed everything we have ordered, from.blackened catfish and shrimp & grits to the wings, burger, and fries. Resteraunt and lounge by day, bar and mini-dance club at night/weekends. A lot of local service industry pros tend to come in before/after shift... Thats like a southern BBQ place with fire trucks and police cars in the parking lot (i.e. the best bar around). Also, we love the Saturday bartenders. They really do a.great job.

Me, my Fiance & mother went to Fridays After Five & decided to eat at Raptures. There were no tables outside so we went inside & had to change our seats twice cause of all the smoke(fog machine) coming from a birthday party upstairs. My Fiance ordered a burger well done & we waited over 40mins for our food & the burger came back so raw it was bloody. Once we told the waitress we were not paying for it she said it was bloody because we didnt give them enough time to cook it? How much longer than 40mins does it take to cook a well done burger?? The waitress only came to the table to take our order, give us our food & check. I will NEVER go back to this place again!

I would describe ecstasy as a wonderful bliss, which is not what Ive experienced at Rapture so far. My trips to Rapture have been with a group of friends, and circumstances usually have me eating at home, so I have no opinion on the food. Unless you catch a drink special, theyre pricy, and sometimes the drinks do indeed come with flies/hair/etc. However, our recent experience with a rude waitress in the back will probably halt any future visits here. Maybe she was just having a bad night, but you can get a good drink anywhere in Charlottesville, so I recommend getting one somewhere with less attitude.

Rapture is a multi-level venue with several bars, pool tables, spacious dancefloor, laser lights, visual projection system, and massive sound system. The upstairs level houses the DJ booth and a large modern lounge, both of which overlook the dancefloor. Downstairs, theres more lounge space, plenty of room at the bars, and the giant dance floor under a sea of laser lights. Rapture continues excellent restaurant service throughout the evening, so you can grab dinner out front on the mall, then head to the Club and dance through the night!

Downtown meat market with smallish dance floor and DJs playing the usual tunes. Generally overcrowded on Saturday nights, with longish wait for drinks. Gets rambunctious when guys outnumber gals -- thats typically when arguments and fights break out. Pool tables and a closed-off patio where you can smoke. Food is average, though overpriced like most C-ville eateries. Open late. The cops will tell you they are called there fairly often to end disputes and haul drunken assholes off to county for a free night in jail.

Ive lived in Charlottesville for most of my life, and Rapture is by far one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is amazing. Their fish and chips are a staple on their menu and you cant go wrong with them. The burger is superb, and the hillbilly egg rolls are genius. Weekend brunch is the best around - their bacon is literally the best bacon ever. If theres a chefs special you should try it, and the soup of the day is always on point.

The worst sausages Ive ever tasted. Cheese whiz on pasta? But worst was the chicken. If you are going to deep fry something it needs to be on the menu. I dont care how much of a "southern thing" it is. In the end no one apologized. The manager came out and acted as if it was our fault for not knowing that the roast chicken is also deep fried. In my opinion, this is the worst restaurant in Charlottesville. Nay, in all of Virginia.

We had a party of 6 on the patio on a very busy day. I knew they were slammed and perhaps short-staffed but everyone was very attentive to us. They kept our waters full and checked on us many times. I was really impressed with the service considering how busy they were. The servers also seemed to maintain very pleasant attitudes which a nice change from some restuarants in town.

A $16 cheeseburger and $15 fish and chips, for the price, considering Im not rich, I was expecting something delicious and unique instead we got slow service and mediocre bland food. The fish was super fried almost burned, and the cheeseburger was average. If youre going to charge that much for food at least put some effort into it

YUM. Fish and chips are incredible. Their fries are absolutely amazing. We love sitting outside and taking in the sights and sounds of the downtown mall while we eat. Rapture has been a favorite of mine since 2003 when I was pregnant and craved their crabcake sandwich.

Walked up on a quiet Sunday, sat outside. Wine selection was not deep, but good quality. Servers were exceptionally friendly & helpful. Food was fantastic, done to perfection, highly recommend the sausage-stuffed rock barn pork.

Great place to go for drinks and eats with friends. The music is usually great and the dance floor is always filled. Dont bother waiting in line for bathrooms- there are facilities available downstairs.

The food is okay and its pretty affordable. The brunch tends to be better. The place turns into a bar/dance club at night but it can be a dicey atmosphere.

Just had a Sunday bloody, sweet potato tots and house fried bologna but it was all pretty good. Some great outdoor dining with plenty of shade.

Charlottesville Staple. If youre here long enough, you will see everyone you know. Say hi to my ex-girlfriends behind the bar.
