The Artful Dodger is a very trendy place to meet people for drinks and enjoy some music or dancing. They constantly have eclectic art from both artists local to Harrisonburg and outside of Harrisonburg. The lighting is always perfect and the booths are comfortable and can usually fit four people. There is one circular booth that can sit 5+. There are also high tables for when there isn’t a DJ or band playing. The Dodger has different events from week to week and the crowds they draw in are usually very mixed, in respects to ethnicity, age, sex and sexual preference. The big problem with this place is that their food is overpriced and not quality at all. I’ve ordered burgers, sandwiches, nachos, and a variety of other appetizers and main dishes and it’s never been good. The drinks are appropriately priced and I believe there is a Happy Hour but I haven’t made it to one yet. I keep coming back because it’s a pretty popular place in Harrisonburg and the service is pretty good but, like I said, food is not good.

Nice place to relax, meet friends, enjoy coffee, listen to music. I really like the atmosphere. Latte was strong, tasted great. Enjoyed listening to jazz from the JMU school of music. Wait staff seemed busy and distracted, not as friendly as Id expect. Was loud due to crowd and band, but still a nice environment. They have outside seating where they allow dogs. Close to downtown free parking garage.

We stopped by here as a group of four. The sign said wait to be seated, so we did... After some time we decided to ask the bartender. He told us to sit anywhere. The only table we could find had not been cleaned off. We sat anyway, and figured someone would be by soon to address it and give us some menus. After about 20 minutes of being ignored, we left.

Im not too sure what the hype is all about. It is trendy and well decorated, but the service is terrible and the coffee is way overpriced (not to mention 1/2 full. Thats right. I paid $4 for a 1/2 cup of coffee). The food is decent and cheap and great if you are on the go. I suggest take-out for lunch but skip the coffee. It really is terrible.

Probably one of the best places to go if you are in Downtown Harrisonburg... From the amazing art gallo, enhanced by locals, To the wonderful food and coffee. On the weekend, its a local hot spot for tearing up the dance floor with amazing Djs who spin throwbacks to todays hits/trends. A variety of great drinks! Dont forget to start a tab

I went for brunch and had a breakfast sandwich. They put the tiniest sprig of parsley on the plate. The mimosas were good and hard to beat at $2 Sunday brunch price. I felt like the waiter could have been a bit more attentive, I had to leave for work and I had to go up to the counter to ask for my check.

Terrible service. Waited for over 20 minutes and a server never came by, while others received service outside who came in after us. We left before anyone came over and no one seemed to bat an eyelash. Rude employees. With all of the great options in Harrisonburg, dont even bother with this place.

Terrible service every single time Ive been here. After the first time I thought "maybe it was just busy, Ill give it another shot." Ive since gone bad two times, and both times have been equally as piss poor. Unless you have 2 hours of time to invest into waiting for food, chose somewhere else.

A great place to hang out no matter who you are. Service can be slow sometimes but all the servers a really nice. Weekends can be a bit crazy but its normally pretty calm. For being a coffee shop/bar they have decent food and the prices are good compared to the rest of the surrounding area.

We took our daughter and her friends to Sunday breakfast this morning and everything was great. Wish I knew dogs were allowed as I would have brought ours. Should mention it on-line? People working there were friendly and the food was very good. Will definitely eat here again on next visit!

Went out of the way to patronize a local establishment while traveling, found it to be average. Nothing negative to say but nothing about the food or service would drive me to make my way downtown to eat there should I find myself in need of a lunch spot in Harrisonburg.

Excellent find. Got a Cubans and fajita sandwiches to go and went back to hotel and ate them. We could only finish Cubano, but ate fajita for lunch on the road the next day. Even cold it was delicious. Will definitely make this a regular stopover when going through VA

Trendy little place with a nice atmosphere. Suprisingly good food too! The staff was more than friendly and generous- people you could just have a conversation with! Overall, a wonderful place to go and have a nice meal or a few drinks with your friends.

In a slash and burn town like Harrisonburg, this is the single place downtown with some authenticity. Looks and feels like a 90s coffeehouse, which is why I love it. Their food is absurdly affordable and drink specials are plentiful.

Daily happy hour specials. Mix of clever cocktails, Virginia focused taps, and coffee drinks makes it great for your whole crew. Generous outdoor space is one of Downtown Harrisonburgs best, with excellent people watching.

Great coffee, funky atmosphere, inexpensive. Takes on different personalities depending on the time of day and day of the week; Ill go here often for lunch or to spend a morning working outside on when the weather is nice.

DO NOT COME HERE. Got here around 11, the food did not come out 1230. The waitress (blue hair) only checked on us one time in the span of an hour and a half. Awful service, awful wait times.

I have never had a bad experience here. The food is good, the drinks are excellent, and the dancing is always a good time. I recommend this for the cafe during the day and the bar at night.

A lively downtown bar/restaurant that offers a wide selection menu, all day breakfast and Lucas roasting coffee. A particularly welcoming bar for people from every walk of life.

It was a neat place. I asked my brother in law to take me somewhere out of the norm and we ended up here. It was quite and the art on the walls was neat.
