A friend and I went to the Urban Lounge for the first time the other day, and though there were a few issues in the beginning, we really enjoyed our time. Its a small enough place to feel comfortable, and close enough to the stage to really appreciate the music thats playing -- if, of course, you already enjoy the music thats playing; otherwise, youll likely find yourselves bored. With those few possible exceptions, the Urban Lounge is a fine place to watch good musical groups perform. We didnt sample the drinks, however, so I cant tell you much on the selections or quality. Do yourselves a favor and attend a concert there so you can study the bar and judge it by your own standards. As for the staff: I have read a bunch of reviews here that condemn them, and I cant understand why. I didnt interact very much with them, but when they needed to get by a tighter crowd, they softly moved people out of their way and asked politely to move aside, so one cant really ask for more. Perhaps those who complain about them just need to complain about something. Either way, I didnt notice anything at all wrong with the ones who worked there. I very much recommend The Urban Lounge, but thats me. Im pleased that more and more of the groups I listen to decide to perform there.

The crowd was very rude and nasty. Lots of people hugging and saying I love you, then being total jerks to everyone. I now know what people are talking about when they say someone is "fake." A bartender was wearing a shirt that said "I love mormon [ dirty word for female genitals]." Im not Mormon, but I found it extremely offensive and derogatory to women in general. There was no crowd control, people were so loud we could not hear the opening act whatsoever. The musician commented on it twice and no one shut up. I went to the counter to complain and the same bartender said there is no way to make 800 people shut up. They could have at least tried, made an announcement on the speaker. Why did I pay $30 to go to a concert I cant even hear? Finally, the drinks. They were not good. I tried the soda and beer on tap and both were foul. I think they had bleach in the ice machine, because thats what the ice and drinks tasted like. After those bad experiences, I ordered a drink without ice and it tasted the same, so Im not sure whats up with that. Offensive staff, douchiest people Ive -ever- met, and terrible drinks. Why in the world would I go back?

I have been looking forward to see Yann Tiersen in concert for months (due to the fact that I have been a devoted fan for 5 years now). For some odd reason, I was told that he was playing at the Venue, which I went on believing. Today I found out that Yann Tiersen is playing at the Urban Lounge, which will now allow me to the concert because I am under the age of 21. I believe (and so do all of my family and friends) that I should be able to attend the concert because of how long I have been a Yann Tiersen fan. Please respond. P.S. I do not mean to rate the Urban Lounge (because I have never been) but I can see that if I dont rate, my review will not be read.

We are at the Beatles tribute now it is mayhem. Absolutely no organization and seriously no seats literally there are 15-20 bar stools and 5 booths and about 150 people standing around if your having a tribute concert have a place for people to sit The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 or none is because we came to the RISK podcast and it was fun organized started within reasonable time Definitely have to rethink our next time coming here

I like this place because its right in my neighborhood, they get some pretty good bands and the bar service is outstanding. However, even in the middle of winter is about 100 degrees inside, also, there is pretty much no security to speak of. When I saw a Red Fang there a couple months ago a woman kept leaning on the stage and touching the lead singer/bass player and nobody did anything about it, you could tell he was getting pissed.

Ok so the owners of this place are on top of keepin local, great sense of community, really shows bands that salt lake can throw down. They could have a better selection on beer, and keep the bathrooms cleaner. But the sound is always PERFECT, which I wouldnt say for any other venue Ive attended in salt lake. Since all the good acts that come through utah Urban books, perfect sound seals the deal.

My friends and I were in a bind for tickets after having planned a whole trip down from Jackson. We idiotically didnt think the show would sell out, which it did. The staff over at Urban Lounge were great to us, showing us great hospitality and flexibility for a couple of out of towners. Rad atmosphere, cool people, good shows.

Hey over rated, you miss the old homestead where they turned a blind eye to drunk driving? Let us know where they let you drive drunk so we know where stay away from! PS this is a good venue when the owner/operators show up on time. We waited 2 hours for them to open up, the band didnt even get to sound check!

Such a great small venue! We saw Joshua James here and had a great time. You can easily see the stage from anywhere in the room. The bar tender are nice and super fast. The crowd was a little loud during the show but that has nothing to do with the club. I will definately be attending more shows here.

They didnt accept credit cards when I went, and did cash only, but did have an atm inside. The bar was pretty clean. We went for a concert and it was great. It was intimate as it was a small area so we were close to the band. Standing area on most of the floor, but there were booths to sit in too.

For me this pretty close to an ideal venue. The venue books solid acts and the capacity still allows for a relatively intimate show experience. Sound is usually dialed in really well, great beer selection with fair prices, and good-sized patio for getting some air between sets.

Between waiting until after 8 to get in the door then waiting an other hour for the show to start. Seating is a joke. A few bar stools and tables. When we came to the Risk podcast it was great and organized. But if this the M.O. for most of the shows we will not be coming back.

This is a great venue for intimate shows, the staff is always cool with me, but Im not a dick to them, the venue has seen some huge improvements since I first started going here 13 years ago, and the drink prices havent changed! Cheap drinks and fun times!

People were being loud and very disrespectful to the band that was playing. We could hardly hear the band at all. Nobody did anything about it. Why bother paying money to see a concert here that youre not going to be able to hear or enjoy?
