I must say that customer service at Crescent Ballroom is not a priority for the manager or her staff. After making the bartender aware that the person in front of me cut in line, I proceeded to give her my order. As soon as I broke eye contact with her to let my friend next to me know she was ready to take her order, the bartender rudely stopped serving me and took the order from the person who cut in front of me. I clearly brought to her attention that I was giving her my order when she stopped giving me her attention and boldly took the order of the person who cut in line. The bartender told me I was not giving her my order fast enough so she just took the next order in the middle of my own. I decided to talk to the manager about how rude her bartender was to me and my friend. She told me she could do nothing about what happened. She told me that they are very busy and her staff has to move fast. I let her know that I would at the very least like an apology from the bartender. She told me she cant do that because she cant "Mother" her and make her apologize. Eventually she offered to have the bartender talk with me. I again let the bartender know that as a former bartender myself, good customer service is essential for your business. This bartender had been taking my friends drink order all night long. For her to say that I was taking too long to order does not justify her behavior. When I served customers all night long, I pretty much knew their drink preference. I was very clear with my message to her and very precise when the manager of the club interrupted me and demanded that I "Stop yelling". Its a bar. It is loud. I was not yelling, however my tone was a bit sharp and my inflection was stern, but I was not yelling at anyone. I wanted my message to be received without misunderstanding. The manager continued to interrupt me while I was talking to the bartender. The bartender eventually did apologize, but I then had an issue with the manager insisting that I stop yelling. I continued to remind her I was not yelling, I was projecting my voice so both she and the bartender could hear me. I decided to end my evening and make my exit early. I will not return to this establishment in the future. I will also stop recommending this venue to family and friends

2 stars overall. 1 star for allowing underage people and 1 for playing some solid punk between sets. This place is ghetto when it comes to keeping kids away from the alcohol. Using a barrier to create an L shaped under age zone and keeping that contained by "bouncers". One of these bouncers specifically was just a rude prick. Avoid the squat fat bald one with glasses. Most other staff was A+. Back to the division of the -21 and +21 topic. The person in control of this needs to re-think it. Wrist bands for under 21 wrist bands for over and hand stamps all over the place. I was watched all night long. Every time I went to the rest room and washed my hand I was watched. I guys they think it is just too out of character for punks to wash hands or -21 for that matter. 1/3rd of the floor was designated for -21 and really just overly dangerous for no reason. I have been to many punk shows and this one hand to be the most dangerous Ive ever seen. I was even at a 600 person + Negative Approach show in Oakland on 4/19 where 30-40 people were in the circle pit. The style of the circle pit wasnt even the problem. It was the excess bouncer pressence using their L shaped and ghetto wires together barricade to keep the circle pit up front. There were people getting their heads slammed into stuff and necks whipped back left and right. Dont book punk bands if you have no clue what your booking. If you do though, worry more about the safety of the kids and less on the convenience of the bar. So much wasted space. Less than half of the attending crowed had beers in hand. The other 3/4ths were put in unnecessary risk. I can only judge this place from an un-carded visitor from out of state. I was there for some punk bands on 2-22-14. I prefer to avoid alcohol so no need to have an ID in a circle pit.

WARNING!!! CONCERT PATRONS BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!! THEY ARE DISHONEST AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I bought 2 tickets through for Todd Rundgren, which sold out, for this venue through Stubhub 5 days ago. We arrived an hour early, showed our tickets, and had our small purses searched twice. We entered the ballroom and ordered a cocktail then were told that food had to be ordered back out in the lobby. So we went back to the lobby area, found a table, ordered food, ate, then returned to the ballroom entrance, 6 feet from where our table was. We were told that we had to have wrist bands in addition to our tickets that were supposed to be issued to each of us outside where our purses were searched. Neither of us had been here before so just did as we were told. We showed our tickets to everyone including an unprofessional, rude, manager named Michelle but were refused entrance. They reviewed their security cameras and halfway through the concert offered a wristband as they obviously realized that they made a mistake. By this time, our evening was ruined. I will NEVER EVER go here again and will dissuade everyone I know from going to such a dishonest and unprofessional place. Stubhub is aware that our tickets were legitimate and that is was the fault of Crescent Ballrooms manager. Stubhub is willing to return all of my money plus send us to his concert in California on July 11. Unfortunately I have to work so will not be able to attend. I was so looking forward to hearing one of my favorite musicians from my childhood. What a huge disappointment!!! So sad.

I have always been a fan of the venue. Went to an acoustic act with Eddie Spaghetti the other night and the house audio guy blew it for us. Many left the small room in the first few minutes and couldnt return. Most of my group, (which included 3 world touring audio engineers who make a living mixing sound) spent the night outside at the bar unable to handle the irritatingly loud and poorly eqd acoustic guitar and singer. I wish I could have told Eddie there were at least 35 more people that came to see him but spent the night outside because the mix was obnoxious. Im all for a loud rock show but this was just stupid. Also, ask the bar if you can buy some earplugs and they will give you a used set.. one that is soaking wet and the other one has some Sharpie writing on it. Last but not least, We dropped more than $250 on a number of drinks/food and the bartender couldnt care less about the service or the order of people waiting for drinks. Summary: Bring some ear plugs, hope for a touring engineer, and eat before you get there. If you want a drink be the annoying drunk guy that pushes his way to the front of the bar and waves at the bartender till he serves you. Dont bother keeping a tab open, they wont remember who you are or what you have been ordering. 3 Stars.
