My husband brought our sons aged 11 and 8 to this museum while we were on holiday from Ireland. Both boys had such a good time there thanks to their very nice guide Frank. They talked about Frank and the museum the entire weekend .., thank you so much for making my boys feel very much at home and for taking the time to show and explain everything to them. They have told all their friends about Frank (who they both think is awesome) and we couldnt recommend this museum more highly for kids and adults too.. An afternoon well spent you wont be disappointed ..

Love it. I have never had the opportunity to see the old next to the new when it comes to firefighting. This small museum is downtown and well worth the short walk. The history of the San Antonio Fire Department is deep and the docents love what they do. Ask a lot of questions or just enjoy. It is well worth your while. They let us in for free. They said "You are free today." I purchased merchandise and gave a donation on my way out. It is a must visit on your trip to San Antonio. It is a stones throw (literally) from the Alamo.

This is a wonderful museum, especially if youre a firefighter! There is so much history in this place as well as old equipment, very educational. Its ran by volunteers, that are beyond helpful. We visited during the week, so we had a personal escort, Walter. Hes full of knowledge and very humble. We really enjoyed ourselves. There are activities for children to keep them entertained. As of our visit it was free, but they will start charging a small fee Feb 1st. Make sure you leave $$ for a donation.

This museum is amazing. The day we went it was manned by 2 wonderful & knowledgeable retired firemen. Its got different areas set up for adult and even kid learning. They have put so much time and work into it..its just amazing what these people who donate their lives to protect others are now doing for the community. Visit this museum. Pay your respects and honor these silent heros. Thank you, for each of you are a gift.

Great little museum, lots of history about the San Antonio firefighters and their beginnings. Good information, great pictures. The sections on specialties (arson, hazard, etc...) Are tiny but informative. Theres even a section on women firefighters. The volunteers that run it are retired firefighters. They were working on making the entire museum air conditioned when I stopped by.

Great exhibit and history of SA fire. With our 2 firefighters touring the museum, they really liked the comprehensive amount of equipment shown and the history. They had 2 nicely refurbished fire trucks on display as well! Great for kids! We had a blast taking pictures with the cutouts in the back room! Very friendly staff!

Wonderful, thoughtful, and helpful volunteers gave our girl scout troop the best tour! Knowledgeable and patient, they answered questions, shared experiences, and let us all try on gear. Amazing history captured and displayed, Im definitely adding this to our list of places to take visitors.

Great little museum that has a lot to offer. it is free, which is nice, the staff is amazing and knowledgeable. I think that all of them are retired SAFD. all of the old fire trucks run and are used in parades, and their is even a great childrens play area.

Right downtown, just behind the Alamo, and lots of cool history if you are interested in firefighting. Easy to miss, though, and on the very edge of downtown, so youre unlikely to stumble upon this place unless youre deliberately looking for it.

There is a lot of history here, and there are fun things for the kids. The staff consists of local fire fighters and some from around the country. It was nice catching up with old friends.

Great place to take your kids! My two year old was absolutely floored seeing multiple fire trucks up close (and a couple that he could climb on). Best thing of all is that it is FREE!
