We went to the Valentines Day tango dinner. The first appetizer was cheese and pickled vegetables. The second course was a well seasoned chicken empanada. The highlight of the evening was the main meal- a small steak covered in a mole like sauce with a tangy green an potato salad. It was extremely memorable. The live music and tango dancing was a real treat. I would recommend sitting closest to the kitchen. The wait in between courses was a little longer than I would have thought, probably because there were only two people working the floor. Overall, we had a great date night, and we will be coming back. I would check the menu and cost of food before heading over. We paid $190 for two people and a bottle of wine. Its actually not a bad value considering food and entertainment!!!

I recently had dinner on a Friday night and found this restaurant to be romantic and full of the passion of Spain. The service was attentive and friendly. The show was full of passion and filled the room with energy. The food was delicious and authentic. I had the European meat and cheese plate and the paella. The paella was the best I have had since my mother passed away. Mmmmm. So good!!! I will be going back for more real soon.

Super cozy atmosphere (Bravo Paula), Excellent flavored cuisine and sangria, Attentive Staff, and Top Notch Entertainment (Wicked Flamenco - Luis Linares in this case, traditional guitar player Alejandro Pais Iriart and 2 fabulous Flamenco dancers delivering unending energy, style and emotion). Spent a Great Relaxing Saturday evening, Thanks to Carmens de la Calle and Staff - a Unique San Antonio Nightlife Experience.

No presumptions, no apologies, everything about Carmen’s says chill out and enjoy. If you want hype, go somewhere else. If you want great tapas, drink and music...this is it. The Tapas are perfectly blended to bring out the most surprising flavors. Each dish was art on a plate. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in and had a great time every minute we were there. All of this before the great music starts!!

Hidden Gem. Loved the Flamenco dancing and the food was great. Come prepared to pay cash for the cover charge. Not having cash seemed to throw everything off kilter for the staff. They ended up holding our credit cards at the bar as a compromise. Owner is great but needs more wait staff. She is trying to do everything herself and its too much. The show was fantastic. Definitely would do it again.

Excellent tapas! I have yet to have anything here that I didnt like. Their sangria is great, too, and the pitchers are very generous. Music here seems to alternate between jazz, world music, and flamenco, all of which has been good. It has a very cozy atmosphere; however, its pretty small inside, so seating can be a problem if you come with a large group (unless you show up early).

This is definitely one of my favorite places in San Antonio, it is very eclectic and cool without being pretentious. The food is amazing, I absolutely love the paella!! It reminds me of one of those restaurants in New York (without the price tag) that only a handful new about. Also they have a flamenco dancing show on Fridays.

Expensive, and the owner was not very nice and a bit controlling. Could be a really cool place if owner lightened up and also expanded her menu. The meat and cheese dish was phenominal. We spent $90 for two eating and drinking, and had to stop on the way home to get more food because we were still hungry.

Wow. Walk 5 minutes away from the river walk and GO HERE. A very nondescript exterior belies the spanish-moroccan interior decor. Great date or chill spot. Food is amazing, and sangria pitcher is Texas size. Live music is a real treat. One of the most unique spots downtown.

Quick walk from River Walk. Staff was super friendly. The sangria was tasty. The flamenco music and dancing was terrific. We stayed for both shows! If you have never experienced a Flamenco show and even if you have, give Carmens a try, you wont be disappointed.

We used to go to this place every 2-3 months for a number of years but recently the owner was very rude to us when we told her that the website show times dont reflect the actual ones, she was very dismissive and didnt care to apologize.

The service at this place is absolutely horrible. The door lady is awfully rude. Its sad b/c the food is good and the environment is nice but I will never go again. I left embarrassed that Id taken people there.

Came for the sangria and sweet empanadas with ice cream. The sangria had ice and was nothing special, but had a kick. Just a hint of fruit. Nice atmosphere.
