So, reading these reviews and a couple words of mouth, when we wanted a good hamburger, we headed to Nu-Way. This night it ended up a mistake! We entered and didnt even get anyone to our table for at least five minutes. When the server arrived, she was polite and said she was sorry that it was so busy she couldnt keep up. I noted about a dozen or so people. We ordered our drinks and a wings appetizer for myself and she ran off before we could order the cheese sticks. She brought a glass of wine and a sample of the local brew, I approved, asked for a big glass of it, and tried to order our meals… but she ran off. Ten minutes passed, no beer, no server to take our main order. She then came back to write down our appetizer order, apparently 15min ago she never wrote it down. She also told us that despite it being "wings night" no one thought to thaw any out, so it would be quite awhile before we got our appetizer, IF she ever actually PLACED the order… We had been there over 20min. I still did not have a beer, our order was never placed, and they didnt have their special anyhow. All of this at 730pm on a Wed night. She said it was because it "was so busy". Yet, I watched a person at the bar hold up an empty beer can and he had a full one in his hands in 20sec. Plus several others get refills not too much slower. Since it took 20min to not get a beer, we didnt wait to see how long it would take to thaw our food. Im new in town. I guess it shows. Keep on going to No-Way locals, I guess you are the ones who get good service. Ill keep going to Wild Wing Cafe. I got a beer there in 2min. Our wigs in 5min. And our burgers before we finished our wings. The server was friendly, fast, efficient and had a LOT more than 15 people to wait on...

The Nu-Way is a recent guilty pleasure that weve stumbled upon. Thats funny given its across the street from the parking lot of my Church. Many of the members of my Church are locals and are familiar with the Nu-Way. A joke of mine is that if there is no risk of food poisoning, I"m not interested. A reference to my wife finding my fondness of gas stations sandwiches a disgusting habit. First of all the interior. Know its a grill during the day and a bar at night. I guess that leads to the charm. Severely in need of an update, but that would ruin the ambience and I want it to stay exactly as it is. The only negative is that one winter I set in the area to the right and it was so cold I could see my breath while inside! Other customers were also complaining. The staff always friendly and a bit outnumbered. Its a cramped environment behind the counter and they work around each other with ease. The grill itself tiny, maxing out around just over a dozen or so hamburgers. They are fresh and expertly prepared, not a squashed patty like the chains. Ive ordered the gooey, delicious mess that is the VanDangs White Trash Burger. Tried the Secret Bands Trailer Park on toasted bread last week. Ive had others, but theyre all sloppy and equally delicious. The fries are good, but I favor the onion rings. Not too bready or oily. Usually a special and weve never had anything bad. Get there before the rush, because at any time expect a wait. I for one dont mind, because the wait is worth it.

Delicious burgers and cheap drinks. I decided to check out Nu-Way because Zagat recognized it as having the best burgers in Spartanburg. As a huge fan of Ikes, I couldnt possibly see somewhere else in burg having better burgers. After going, I was not disappointed. Nu-Way burgers are moist, and somehow crumbly in the best way. The Redneck Burger with chili and pimento cheese is velvety and luscious. Though the burgers are smaller than Ikes, theyre at least on par if not slightly better. You cant go wrong with either. Surprisingly, the fries at Nu-Way were notably good. I usually consider fries an after-thought as nothing more than filler. The Cajun fries were absolutely delicious, though. Seasoned enough to have a mildly zesty bite, without coming across too heavily salted. Being a bar at its core, Nu-Way has a good selection of spirits and beer, with everything being extremely reasonably priced. We got 3 beers, 2 burgers, and fries for around $35. Worth every penny, I could see this becoming a regular visit. Decor, while not at all an important part of a good restaurant, is certainly something to mention. Imagine a house, built in the 1970s with the terrible wooden interior walls and drab carpet, inhabited by a redneck with all the NASCAR memorabilia hung everywhere, and then turned into a bar. This accurately describes the interior of Nu-Way. Just ignore the aesthetics and enjoy good food and cheap drinks.

Pathetic. Coming in from out of town I eagerly awaited the chili cheeseburger. I got a refigerator cold bun that engulfed an oversized meatball. The chili added was brown water. Fries that I paid an extra dollar for (didnt care for the American tradition of cheeseburger and chips) were lumped together and lukewarm. Wife got a grilled cheese where the bread was a tiny bit warmer than the cheese. Same deal on fries. Boys got a Po Boy, Reuben and chicken sandwich. 2 out 3 liked it but not the lumpy cold fries. 12 patrons and 5 working on a Saturday right after noon. Took 45 minutes to get our order so time to prepare was not an issue. 4 soft drinks and a water netted a $60 bill. $12 a person for the fare described above. Someone told me that the NuWay recently changed ownership and food distributors. I dont know about that. I just know that its changed and as a result, so will I.

The food is good but last 2 times we went we we left after being seated an hour later still had no food. The waitress never came and checked on us the inside looks as if its falling apart. I watched an employee make sweet tea it was disturbing. She dropped the thing she was stirring it with put her hand up to her elbow on the tea to get spoon she was stirring with. Needless to say we left havent been back since.
