Ive followed this theater since it was under construction and the owners would come to eat at the restaurant I worked at across the street. The owners are incredibly friendly and nice, as are the rest of the staff. The decor is a mix of nerdy and classical cinema that manages to mesh well somehow. They offer typical theater fair, plus things like hot dogs, sandwiches, coffee, wine, alcohol and fine chocolates. As for the theater room itself, its well appointed with reasonably comfortable chairs. However, what keeps my husband and I coming back and makes it our preferred theater is that we have NEVER had a disruption or annoying viewer at any movie there. The seats are not all filled, and the crowd that goes there seems to genuinely want to enjoy the movie in silence like considerable people. There is no annoying talking, cell phones ringing, or the lady with the oversized hat sitting right in front of you. Just people who want to enjoy the movie without distractions, like you. This is how every theater experience should be!

Pix movie theatre is absolutely adorable and wonderful opportunity here in Albany. They only play one movie (maybe two) each day but its totally worth it. The movie theatre prices are awesome, and for those who have cash on paypal and do not know what to do with it, PIX accepts it. The staff are super friendly and the concession stand is varied. They offer everything from wine, beer, frozen bananas, hot dogs, sandwiches, and house made truffles. I also tried the hummus plate last night, it was a very generous portion and it was also quite good. The food is inexpensive and better tasting than a typical movie theatre. The theatre is also cozy and very inviting. As you are leaving, mints are offered at the door. You feel like royalty when you go there, oh, and to add that the main lobby is super cozy and full of couches, tables, and good books to read. I hope that more people support this adorable local business, I would be sad to see it go.

My wife and I love the PIX Theatre! We are always promoting it to people we know. Really fun food and deserts, concession and ticket prices are close to half of Regal and Carmike. The picture and sound quality are very good. The best part are the events like big bowl games, the Superbowl, Oscars night (formal wear, red carpet, drinks, etc.), classic movie anniversaries, series finales and holiday shows. They are always a blast and the special concessions are frequently themed to the show! The owners, Rod & Denise, are very friendly and very knowledgeable about film. I could talk about movies and life all day with them. If you are looking for a great movie EXPERIENCE (decor, food, hospitality, quality of show) at a more than fair price, look no further than the PIX Theatre in downtown Albany! (Go local business!)

The only downside to this theater is that it gets movies towards the end of there run-time at a regular theater. This does mean that you only pay $7 no matter what time of day (compared to $10.5 elsewhere). Concessions are extremely reasonable and quite broad! You feel like youre in a small cafe. The decoration is fitting and feel nostalgic. I wish I could just hang out to read or chat. Excellent service. The showroom is well kept. The screen is smaller than most Ive seen, but doesnt detract much from the overall appeal.

The nostalgic atmosphere, the wonderful and so helpful staff, the memorabilia, not only makes this place a place I like to frequent, but worth waiting for top of the line movies! To be able to have a beer, popcorn, food, etc.. While watching a movie , reminds me of home, and the prices for tickets are good around the one third of what you would pay for at a regular theater. Thank you pix theater for making so many nights memorable! And dont forget the mints served up after the movie!

The Pix is a beloved theater in my household! It is such a charming place to see a movie. They offer a nice array of films, including a good bit of family picks. Occasionally, a throwback movie is thrown in as well! The concessions are fabulous too...and at fair prices! The lobby is a fun place to hang out before the movie, with various games/puzzles set out. Its really the perfect spot for a date night or family outing. I rate this place high in atmosphere, quality, and value!

The people are friendly and the prices are beyond reasonable. It is a small theater so it doesnt handle crowds well. Very slow concessions simply based on not being equipped to handle the number of people. Make sure you get there very early to ensure you have a good seat. If youre stuck near the front, the seats angle back and it feels a bit like youre in a roller coaster making its way up the incline. Very different from the typical stadium seating.

The best local DT Theater. The decor is amazing. The owners are wonderful people with a passion for the cinema and great eats for both adults and kids. They have the best movie theater popcorn I have ever eaten. Come here for a great night out or a special date. Old movie posters are for sale as well as portions of movie strips. This is the real full cinema experience.

Went to Pix for the first time this weekend--what an amazing experience! No "big box" feel of other movie theaters, incredibly friendly staff, more-than-fair prices, and superb environment. Possibly my most favorite feature was that the bathrooms have speakers that play the movie so you dont feel like youre missing out when you have to go! Cant wait to go back!

Wonderful downtown Albany theater run by dedicated movie lovers, Rod and Denise Bigner. Great atmosphere, lots of interesting food items, and all at reasonable prices (relative to local multiplexes). Theyve also teamed with local James Beard-nominated restaurant, Sybaris Bistro, for a special movie date night dinner. We love it and go as often as possible.

I went to see Trolls here. For the end credits they had a disco light going in the auditorium. It was a fantastic touch. The lobby feels like a coffee shop. They have free WiFi. The seating is reasonably well sloped. This is the best theater that Ive been to. The theater only has one screen. Thus they only show one movie at a time.

An excellent single screen theater for a date or family. The lobby is very relaxing so feel free to show up early to your movie and play some games or admire the old movie memorabilia. The prices here for movies and for their food are very affordable. The nachos left something to be desired though... like everything.

Theater was really quaint and well kept. Food items were quite good. My only gripe is the seating was very uncomfortable for big people. The armrests dont fold up and your hips get mashed the whole time. If your movie is great then youll tolerate it, but if not, be prepared for a long night.

Amazing service and they are very clean! My only compliant would be that the armrest do not fold up so could be a tight squeeze but still very comfortable seats. They gave these little mints out after the show which was quite a surprise and a great experience overall! Will be coming back!
