Today, May 3rd, 2016. Mostly overcast with short periods of sun. My sister and I hiked Wahkeena trail up and over, then down to Multnomah falls overlook and Lodge. everything was do-able but the very rocky trail did give us pain in the feet. Also, It would be great if there were clearer direction signs that included direction and mileage between Wahkeena falls and Multnomah falls/lodge. And I dont mean road mileage, but trail mileage. I had to use Google Maps on my phone to take the correct path at trail intersections. One disappointing trend which we found unacceptable was the litter left behind by fellow hikers. We carried out plastic water bottles, candy wrappers, drink cups and orange peels left behind, or tossed into the woods by others. There needs to be reminders of the "leave no trace" policies which real hikers live by. Stop leaving your trash on our trails and if you cant, stay home! Other than these annoyances , the hike was fantastic and would recommend it.

-Winter Review- 0.2 miles to the Wahkeena falls and you can leave your car in this lot and walk over in the trails to the FAMOUS Multnomah Falls in 0.5 miles. I would only recommend going up to Wahkeena Falls for folks that can climb or get on their hands and knees. During the winter, the water freezes over the rock causing it to be very slippery, so please be careful! Its a short uphill walk, but Wahkeena is beautiful giving you a close up view. If youre a first timer to this trail of wonderful waterfalls, go see em all. It doesnt take very long at all. As for the trail to Multnomah Falls, it is located at the base; so make sure to head back from Wahkeena Falls back to the parking lot. The trail is beautiful and goes along the old highway without the danger of getting run over by a speeding car. The walk is EASY and only 0.5 miles! PS. dont litter along the trail, nature thank you!

While you can view this falls at a distance, the view gets better the higher you climb. There is one of the historic rock bridges where the trail crosses the creek. When you get to the base, you can head back down to you car or continue with many options. One of the most popular options is to follow the trail up past the top of the falls and drop down the Multnomah falls trail. This option will take you past three other falls on your way to Multnomah falls. The trail follows Wahkeena creek up the hill and then you can follow Multnomah creek down. They are both pretty enough to have you doing to grab a picture quite often.

If you are going through the scenic route of falls for some good photos these falls probably offer the best opportunity for this. There is a bridge really close to the falls so you can take a really nice photo there. There is a nice trail that connects Wahkeena and Multnomah so if youre having trouble finding parking at Multnomah you could park at Wahkeena and take the nature trail over like I did. The hike to the fall wasnt bad at all it had a pretty big incline which is rather typical. I would definitely recommend seeing this fall!

Parque con espectacular caída de agua, es un área natural muy bien adaptada para su disfrute. Cuenta con áreas de descanso y una pequeña área comercial, además de senderos para quienes disfrutan el ejercicio en la naturaleza

Pretty waterfall visible from the road. The lack of 5 stars is because there was an awful park ranger (or something like that) that YELLED at my father from across the road that he was walking on something he shouldnt have been? Looked like ground to me. It was unclear, but the man was incredibly rude and continued yelling at us. Ruined the whole thing. Seems like people arent welcome at this one...

The star is for the view. I hate everything else about this trail, from the constant uphill, to the rocky and muddy terrain after the paved section ends (youll slip if you go anytime close to rain), to the unclear labeling of trail network (thanks for the loop detour back to the area I was trying to leave!). Be sure to bring a can of raid.

You can see quite a bit of this waterfall from the road, but to truly appreciate it hike up the trail to the bridge which crosses in front of the waterfall. Its a beautiful hike and a truly beautiful waterfall up close. If you have time, go further up the trail to Fairy Falls. Its a gorgeous hike (pun intended). You wont regret it!

A nice place to view waterfalls, for all levels of outdoor abilities. Parking right at the lower falls. A bit if a hike up hill to the next fall that you can walk behind. Up more for another two. The path is well maintained, but be careful. There is a memorial for someone who fell. Enjoy the view, but stay clear of the edge.

Cest tellement frais, et beau là-haut...Mon ami et moi avions emprunté le sentier menant jusquau début de la chute. La vue est superbe, impressionante...

Awewome hike. First part is very accessible, by when go up and do the entire hike, its more challenging with great viewpoints and other waterfalls. The devils rest viewpoint was too high up in the mist to get a good view sadly enough when I joked up there... But I would still recommend it.

Definitely worth the short walk up the path for the first falls alone. Its fairly steep but only .2 miles and very pretty all year round. Opt to go another steep half mile for some gorge views and the upper part of the falls. Head in for Fairy Falls or to take the full 4.8m loop.

The hiking trail is paved almost all the way to the top which makes for a low stress hike though the trail is quite steep. The hike is less than 2 miles to the lookout (which is beautiful!) and only a half mile to a beautiful of the falls from their base.

We saw the falls on our way to Multnomah Falls in the car. When then did the Multnomah Falls hike and completed the loop which ended at Wahkeena Falls. Its a very beautiful waterfall and you get a better view if you do the hike to the top of the falls.

This is a fantastic hike. There is a good like stretch where you are hiking up along side the water fall. The view is great. There are several other trails that connect with 420. This way if you feel like doing a longer hike that is an option as well.

Beautiful waterfall. Its not extremely crowded as Multnomah Falls so it was definitely more enjoyable. You can get very close to the water for pictures, just be careful not to slip and fall in. Very beautiful indeed. Must see!

A great set of Falls often overshadowed by Multnomah just down the road. If you have a little bit of extra time continue on the trail to fairy Falls and youll surely be rewarded.

Another beautiful waterfall to visit in the Gorge. Take the short walk (up to the right) to the bridge for another great view. If youre up for it, continue on up to Fairy Falls.

This was a great stop off of the "Historic Columbia River Highway" for yet another beautiful waterfall. Bonus: The Picnic Area near the parking also has a clean bathroom!
