I really enjoyed the Toledo zoo. Well go again. Probably in 2019 or 2020 after the science museum reopens. One of the best things about the Toledo zoo is how close you can get to the animals. You can also see the whole zoo in a day, but it still has a good variety of animals. The worst thing about the Toledo zoo is the food. The food isnt very expensive, but its terrible. Absolutely terrible. There is a Churchs Chicken and a Marcos Pizza around the corner. Dont drive past them. Stop and eat. I had the worst burger Ive ever had at the "Carnivore Cafe". It was cold and tasted worst than a day old reheated McDonalds burger. Admission is a bit expensive. It cost our family of 4 nearly 100 Canadian to get in. Well definitely go again, but well bring our own food. For sure. The other negative thing I have to say about the Toledo zoo is that they lack wifi service for patrons. They should offer free wifi. The giraffe experience was a lot of fun. My family was very happy to feed the giraffes. The train ride was ok. I think wed do it again. There is also a carousel. I dont think we would bother with that again. I think wed spend more time at the splash pad and playgrounds instead. It was easy to move a stroller through the zoo and they had plenty of stroller parking for places that strollers were not allowed. A lot of fun activities for kids to do. We didnt get to see any shows or anything like that, and the science museum was closed. I gave the Toledo zoo 4 stars because their food was really, really bad. Definitely the worst burger Ive ever had. No matter how fun the zoo was, they lose a star for that burger. I should have taken a picture of the burger. Lol

Great value! Folks living in the vicinity certainly benefit from a great rate for an annual pass (effectively the price of two visits) to this zoo that features respectful exhibits for the animals coupled with a broad range of entertainment for visitors that include keeper-talks, animal shows, etc... One cool feature here - and its becoming commonplace in a number of zoos across the U.S. - is the tree-line / zip-line that attracts "adventurers" of all skill levels. In this case, it traverses the African plains exhibit. Pretty cool. Brought son/daughter to the zoo and we tackled it all in about two hours (an accelerated pace, no doubt, but we felt good about what we took in) without attending any of the many shows that were scheduled. One this I really like about this zoo is the collection of WPA structures found throughout the park. Proof positive of the enduring value of thoughtful government programs executed during periods of national distress. It seems as thought most of the original buildings have that WPA look. Heres an interesting fact. In 2014, USA Today ranked the Toledo Zoo the "#1 Zoo in the USA" - Fascinating. I wouldnt have thought so myself although it is a very good zoo! - (Perhaps they factored in accessibility, affordability, etc.) - Ive been to the San Diego and Miami Zoos and thought they were superior - but they also draw from considerably greater population areas so thats perhaps an unfair comparison. Regardless - this is a GREAT zoo!

We love the Toledo Zoo and especially the aquarium. Weve renewed our membership three years in a row. Both of our toddlers enjoy going to see the polar bears play and touch the stingrays in the aquarium. It can get congested on busy days and during the summer be a miserable experience for parents, but I think that goes for all zoos. Go during the spring or winter when its a bit warmer and youll find much more enjoyable. Theres stairs and an awful ramp you have to climb to get to the park, and a tunnel with zoocentric music to endure. I havent looked for disability friendly options but Im sure they have them. The ramp is certainly wheel chair friendly. They just got a dingo, tiger, and a couple other animals next to the sloth bear and across from the flamingos. That exhibit was updated and its awesome! We went last week and all the animals were out playing, even the sloth bear. We love him the most. And of course the educational aspect is worth mentioning. They have a ton of information and we learn something new every time. The animals seem well cared for and healthy. They do rehabilitation as well. The bald eagles are injured in the wild and cared for by their vets.in a luxury bird suite during their stay. Overall a great zoo. Not to big but not too small and definitely one that cares about their animals. This is a picture of my oldest the first time she went and the sloth bear the first time my second went.

Took my family to the toledo zoo. Parking was easy enough to navigate with no attendant at the kiosk. Upon purchasing the ticket 2 adult and 4 child tickets they then tagged on $7.50 for parking. After walking through the first park of the zoo we found the walking deck where we were told to park our stroller. Ok, no big deal. Then walking on the the deck with my children we were asked if we were going to pay to feed the giraffes we said sure they didnt say they charge you $12 for 10 pieces of lettuce sorry Im not paying that. They said we couldnt see the giraffes if we didnt pay to feed them (it cost me over $100 to get in the door plus parking pretty sure I paid) now my kids are unhappy because they have to get back in there strollers after not seeing what we paid to see and it all could have been avoided if the kid that told us to park our stroller would have told us I had to pay for stuff that grows in my garden so I could feed a giraffe. What is my admission and parking paying for? The other exhibits are worth mentioning. The park itself is clean and well kept and everything was easy to walk to.

Its a nice zoo and nice animal enclosures. Ive been to better ones but rarely can you go wrong with a zoo of this proportion. When I was there the animals were very engaged. very busy playing and eating. rarely was there an exhibit that the animals were hiding or looking lethargic. Toledo zoo has neat Art drawn on the interstate overpasses that are visible not only when you are driving under them but also when you cross the interstate to go to the other side of the park. I also thought it was neat as you go over the bridge you abruptly come upon a bald eagle enclosure no more than an arms length away from the walk way. They have a nice Food court and outdoor tables and chairs overlooking an animal enclosure featuring giraffes and other african ( I believe) animals on the other side of the interstate. I recommend it to anybody passing through or who lives around the area but I highly I recommend the Cincinnati or the Columbus or ESPECIALLY the Brookfield Zoo in chicago. I havent had the luxury of going to Lincoln Park yet so I cant say.

Love the Toledo Zoo for its architecture and its size...one of the smaller, easier zoos to navigate. 1. We were there at open - 10 oclock and left at 2:30. We had seen everything, ate lunch and the boys played on the playgrounds. 2. A little let down that so many enclosures didnt even have animals in them. The entire science building/area was closed for renovation and aside from what the map said, they no longer have bats. Which is one of my sons favorite things to see. 3. It was also hard to locate anyone working there! I dont know where the employees hang out but it wasnt in a visible area...there wasnt anyone around to ask questions. 4. There were also a lot of kids in dangerous situations bc parents didnt watch and again, lack of employees. ..one teen was actually walking up on top of an uneven fence at an enclosure, he could have easily fallen in but there wasnt anyone telling him otherwise! We had a nice enough time but dont know that were in a hurry to go back.
