Mill Valley Golf Course has a few pros and many cons which lead me to rate 3 stars. Pros: -The only golf course in the area -Friendly staff -Great price (18 bucks via golf now for 9) Gorgeous scenery (and im not joking the redwoods on 5 tee were spectacular see photos) Cons: The incredible difficulty of the course shown through due to the conditions it was in. Including: -Rock hard greens -Little to no signage on where the next tee is (i got lost for 15 mins trying to find 6 tee and literally walked into a old abondoned camping ground to find the 7th tee) -Extreme changes in elevation (this is a bit of a nitpick but having to hoof this nine on foot put me to bed by 8 that night) -Rough by the greens is longer than Oakmont on a US open year -I was unable to find yardages for any hole except for par 3 teeboxes making 2nd shots really difficult -But the creme de la creme of bad is the fairways. Ever wonder how hard it would be to play a course with only rough and no short grass? Come to Mill Valley! I hit 4 out of the 5 of the par 4 fairways today and found myself unable to find my ball twice and the other two times it was half buried leaving no chance to hold those rock hard greens. -All in all i shot 45 and felt accomplished but not as much fun as i hoped for. In summary if you come to Mill Valley do it for the sights because they were top notch. Just dont get your hopes up on breaking par.

This is tough......as I think you must consider the horrible weather we had this winter and the effect it had. But as it stands today in early April, the conditions, specifically in the middle of the fairways and just off the greens, are the worst Ive ever seen. The starter said "youll lose some balls" and said hed warned others as well. But I didnt think he meant in the middle of the fairways! He was right, I lost at least 3 in the fairways and several other times I had to hunt for several minutes to find them (see pictures for proof). That being said, I was so impressed with the natural beauty of the area! The redwoods, view of Mt Tam, and even a deer feeding near the 8th tee. If this course was well maintained, at least the fairways, I would feel very differently. There were a few holes that made no sense: the direction of #4 is confusing and the yardage is way off, and the tee box on #6 is ridiculous as its so short you need an 8 or 9 iron, but the overhanging tree is so low you have to punch it to keep it low. Ive included several pictures so you can judge for yourself. In the end I would rather take a jog through this course for exercise than play golf on it, but its only $21 so I guess you get what you pay for.

I have been golfing for over 15 years now and I have never had a worse experience than i had at Mill Valley. The course was in terrible condition and they have the most unprofessional and rude staff I have encountered, not just at a golf course but anywhere. I wont get into all of the details but at one point the "ranger" insulted my father in laws golf swing. If the owner/manager of this course reads this review I want them to know that I will be writing a similar review anywhere I can. If you were thinking about golfing here dont bother. Like I said the course is over priced and under kept. Save your money or go to a real course where at least the employees will appreciate your business and youll be able to play off of grass.

I love this place. I have very fond memories of learning to play on this course and enjoying it the same way everytime Im there. Its a fairly easy course, so dont be expecting to see and PGA pros hanging around, and the clubhouse is pretty minimalistic. But, it has some of the most beautiful scenery surrounding it as it sits in a valley up against a mountain. Unfortunately as its a public course, it is subject to city funding and sometimes suffers from poor maintenance. But, that hardly detracts from the enjoyment.

Mill Valley Golf Course is a hidden gem in Marin. A short 9-hole course (Par 36) that will challenge every aspect of your game weather your a scratch golfer or high HCP. The course is well maintained and the greens are in great condition. Despite the experience others have had the course has been under new management for over a year. Golf Pro Doug Acton, PGA Professional Trainer (and also hold the course record) teaches lessons at the course.

A beautiful and challenging 9 hole course in the hills of Mill Valley. Very well maintained with a nice variable terrain and wildlife running about.

Great place to hit a quick nine. The course offers a great variety of challenges, and is certainly one of the most beautiful courses around!

The tee boxes are almost all turf mats, and the course is a maze trying to figure out one hole from the next. Not a great golf experience
