We drove up and the scene was just tranquil and peaceful. It was trees everywhere and greenery. They had a tennis court where people were playing and people were gathered outside the pool house waiting to get in and cool off. We parked and walked down the trail anxious to see the animals. They had a good mix of animals alligators, tortoise, owls, bald eagles, black bears, bobcats, wild turkeys just to name a few. They were pretty spread out so bring your walking shoes. The dens were clean and you really couldnt smell any foul smells. The day we went it was almost a 100 degrees so some of the animals lazed as a result of that but they still were a beautiful sight to behold. There was several zoo attendants tending to the animals that could offer assistance if need be. They had a photo shoot prop there that we took pictures within for a souvenir. There also was clear visibility of the animals which made it easy to take pictures of them. There was a wooden bridge that connected it all with benches along the way to take a break or take in the scenery. I brought some bottled water and it was definitely needed. Although the whole zoo was shaded with the trees it still was pretty hot. They had animal identification signs in front of each enclosure to offer visitors basic animal information such as scientific name, niche, diet, range and life span. The day we went it was moderate traffic flow since it was on a Thursday afternoon. Our family enjoyed it and honestly felt like we got a mini workout from walking from cage to cage. I would definitely recommend this zoo and walking trail or even the pool and tennis court for your enjoyment.

This is a cute, little, public zoo open to the public. You dont pay anything to go in and walk around. All the animals are rescues and seem well taken care of. The enclosures looked tidy. The zoo walkways were clean, and they were playing Jack Johnson in the background. It was an overall enjoyable experience.

A wonderful place tucked away in Athens. It was a relaxing learning experience for us. Info cards to learn about the animals and you learn all their names. We loved it and will definitely visit again.

Its a free park and tbh honest I thought I would only see a bird or two but they have eagles, gators, owls, bears, a bobcat, and a few other animals. Great place to go for a walk.

Great little zoo to bring the kids to explore the wildlife of the State of Georgia. Also use to be a great date location to show off that youre in touch with nature.

Great place for everyone. They have injured/rehabilitated wild animals that cannot be reintroduced to the natural environment.
