Had heard that this course was challenging, so wanted to try it. Nice fall day and no one on the course. Trying to instill a love of the game in my boys, so I thought it would be a good opportunity. Wrong choice. Taking our time and talking about shot choices and strategy, we were off pace (2 hr 30), but without anyone else out, didnt think it was a problem, or wed have played more quickly . On the ninth tee box, we got berated by the pro shop employee. Totally unprofessional, totally unnecessary, in tone as well as in timing. Even if correct, not the right way to handle it. Too many other great courses in the area, like boulder Creek, Fowlers mill, grantwood , Gleneagles, ellsworth Meadows, etc to waste time on a place to feel unwelcome...

Am totally shocked at the other review i read,I play in a weekly league there plus additional rounds during the week and have never experienced any of what the reviewer described.From Bob,to Pat the Caddie Master,to any and all their employees,to the constantly fantastic condition of the course,HVCC is surely the closest Ill get to being treated like one of the pros.All I can suggest is for the reviewer to give them another open-minded try,had to be a bad day,surely hell change his mind.

This place is run by at total a$$hol e I will say nice course but not worth having to deal with Bob to play though he is usually in the proshop bitc*ing at his employees or yelling at customers cant see how they keep this guy. Must either be the owner or family business. Sorry but stay away is best advice to be given many other nice places in the area.

Great Donald Ross layout. a couple of these reviews are way off. I have always been treated great at Hawthorne. The rangers and staff are always courteous. Took my wife on the course for her first time ever, she does not play, had a great lunch. I joined a league there and we are certainly treated extremely well.

Iteresting course.....hope you like shot shaping because there isnt a straight shot on this course.....can definitely tell why the members left i wouldnt want to play that course everyday or more than once year for that matter.....in good shape and pretty well maintained just not exactly the most fair course

Beautiful course with great views, mature trees, flowing creeks. This course provides cold water along the course. Friendly staff, great prices, good food. I highly recommend this course!

Having our wedding here. Great course (both golf and food). Interior could use a remodel. Make sure to check out the overlook for the 9th hole and look for the rabbit.

Fairways are tight, rough is too high at spots Bring extra balls if you spray them. Greens hold very well. Bar area is clean and selections of beers decent.

Played this course as part of a work golf scramble. Course was well laid out and provided a fun day of golf.
